How To Get Rid Of Silly/working Mistakes In Math

How do I get rid of silly mistakes while doing math?

The biggest sources of error: misreading the question. To beat that, read the question more than once.More importantly, once you have finished the problem, read the question again, paying close attention to what is asked. Only after you've verified that you've found exactly what the question seeks should you write your answer down.(This repeated question reading may become, by practice so fast, that you won't even notice it.)In short, Read problem - do one question - check that your solution is exactly what the question asks for - mark your answer - go to next question.Next habit to develop: write clearly. No misreading numbers, messing up signs, and so on - organizing ones work. (This can make one do maths even faster, since you won’t have to think 'what does this say' when looking at your own work).

How do I avoid my silly mistakes in maths and physics?

For more details follow on IES General Studies - IESgs or MECH - GATEMany times even a single mark would decide our results, especially in case of competitive exams. Below are some of the tips to be remembered before going to an exam. For the sake of better understanding I have taken the ISRO exam as an example.Silly calculation mistakesImpact:Marks will be lost in easy questions where average students will be able to scoreHow to avoid:Dedicate at least one hour a day for one week before the exam, mainly on numerical practice(better to choose from the known problems)Over excitement on known questionsImpact:This would blind our brain and we may answer the question without completely understanding it.If the question asked is similar to the questions we have already practiced, we may tempt to solve it in the same way. So there is very much chance of missing the twists, if any in the questionHow to avoid:Treat all questions equally.Even if question is very simple, please read the question two times, like we do for the other questions.Overspending time on one questionImpact:May not get enough time for other simple questions. It will take away your precious time. How to avoid:Stick to your division of time. In this case total minutes divided by 80 questions(90/80=1.125 min), but sometimes we can spend one or two minutes extra.Don't trigger your ego in the exams. Our aim in the exam is to score high but not to prove our ability to solve the difficult problemWhen can I go for extra questions attempt(flukes), other than known questions?Ans: In ISRO exam, cut off would be same for all, irrespective of the reservation. Cut off marks are 140,109 and 130 in 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively. So, on an average attempts should be more than 120 marks out of 240. So if you are not reaching that mark, then attempt more questions which are half sure. But again remember that it depends on difficulty level. So compare with previous paper and take the decision. As explained above, we can decide for other exams alsoFor more details follow on IES General Studies - IESgs or MECH - GATE

How do I get rid of the habit of making silly mistakes? Has it something to do with focus? Will increasing focus help in this?

You can never ever become high achiever if you are not built on a foundation of a higher ethics. If the ethical foundations are not strong, even a small shake will send a tremor in you. Every individual should understand his position, not only related to the company and team, but in a broader context related to the society and the universe in which he is living. Please understand, unless you are clearly settled about yourself within the broader contexts, you will be constantly shattered by even a small friction by your team. When your identity becomes clear with this broader contexts, the identity which you carry with your team will look very small, simple, easy. When you infuse the higher identity in your body it is health; in your mind, it is joy; in your consciousness, it is enlightenment.Always fight the lower level problems with the higher identity. Remember the higher truths about you. When you remember your universal responsibility and social responsibility, completing your office responsibility becomes nothing. Out of freedom you will play this game. Only when you believe in your higher identity, when you understand your higher identity, you will be able to successfully make everybody understand their higher identity. When you understand your business with the cosmos, and cosmos’s business with you, you relax from the fears which are constantly attacking you. Even if the whole world is in crisis, you are not in crisis. Because it will dissolve into you and come out as you.Source: Work from your higher identity

Since you are a fresher you they will give you more time to settle in. So till then you will have to commit more effort to make sure that you meet targets set before you, like thinking more on it. Embedded systems are pretty straight forward, you probably has to know the organization of your systems that inter connect your software and see through the assemblers that will do the communication between these. This is mind in action and you have to sit through learning your system. Put it simply you have to identify the architecture and work out the flows and the system functions though your assemblies which if embedded will automate the functions, if it is data gathering then that or if it is something else like robotics then that or if it is something else then identify that. Without proper planning you may not be able to identify with the big picture of your systems. Since you are new to this somethings might be not visible all possibilities, like sometimes you may not be able to write an interrupt handler or a system recovery or exception handler and so on. See these sorts of things that make the system work, make a simple design and try out with others who may be completing other parts of the project.
