How To Get Rid Of The Ayn/evil Eye

Ramadan, how dangerous is the Evil Eye ( Ayn Al Hasad) ?

Assalamu Alaikum,

B. How severe is the affliction from ‘The Evil Eye’?

It was narrated that Ubaid bin Rifa’ah Az-Zuraqi said: Asma (bint Umaish) said, “O Allah’s Messenger (PBUH)! The children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall I recite ‘Ruqyah’ for them?” He said, “Yes, for if anything were to overtake the Divine Decree, it would be the evil eye.”

(Hadith No. 3510, Chapters on Medicine, Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 4; Hadith No. 2059, Chapters on medicine, Jami’ At-Tirmidhi, Vol. 4).

The statement that ‘if anything were to overtake the Divine Decree, it would be the evil eye’ tells us how severe the affliction from the evil eye is.

C. Prevention from (and/or Treatment for) the affliction from ‘The Evil Eye’ – The ways which are accepted in Islam

People follow many ways in order to prevent affliction (or treat the afflicted ones) from the evil eye. Some of these prevalent ways are authenticated by Sunnah, while others are not. The Islamic ways of prevention from (and treatment for) the affliction from ‘The Evil Eye’ are as follows:

C.1. ‘Ruqyah’

‘Ruqyah’ refers to divine verses which are recited as a means of curing disease. It is an accepted way of treatment affliction from the evil eye. Refer to following hadith:

It was narrated from Aishah (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) commanded her to recite ‘Ruqyah’ to treat the evil eye.

(Hadith No. 3512, Chapters on Medicine, Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 4).

The same is also narrated in the hadith mentioned in previous section. However, in order to do this, one should have a sound knowledge of the supplications to be used as per authentic Sunnah.

C.2. Supplication of Ibrahim (AS)

Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan & Al-Hussain, saying: ‘Uidhukuma bikalimatillahit-tammati, min kulli shaitanin wa hammatin, wa-min kulli ainin tammah (I seek refuge for the two of you in the Perfect Words of Allah, from every devil and every poisonous pest, and from every evil harmful eye)‘. And he would say, “It is with this that Ibrahim (AS) would seek refuge for Ishaq (AS) and Ismaeel (AS).”

Salaam.

How do you get rid of the evil eye curse?

I personally don’t believe in curses but do believe that we attract to ourselves negative situations. Usually what we fear most we attract. In the Italian culture you “ break the spell “by placing a bowl of water with 3 drops of olive oil in it on top of the “victims” head and say a prayer. The prayer has to be learned by the healer on Christmas Eve. I am very understanding of rituals but this one is hard to fathom. I never participated in it nor would I ever.

What surahs are good to read to protect you from evil eyes?

Salam.

Recite "Surah al-Naas" protects you from evil doings. As well as "Surah al-Falaaq" And "Surah al-Fatiha" to keep away from Allah's anger and your evil eye to demolish.

Duas:

-I Seek Forgiveness Of Allah, (Who Is) “There Is No God Save Allah” The Ever living, The Everlasting And Unto Him I Turn Repentant.

-O Lord, verily, I am overcome, so help me.

-O Allah, drive the misfortune away from me.

-Recite this for worries of looking at something evil: O Allah, if my sins have blackened my face, I turn to You through Your prophet, Muhammad, the prophet of mercy, blessings of Allah be on him and on his children, (and through) Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, Husayn and the (rest of the) Imams (of the Ahl ul Bayt), peace be on all of them.

Also remember that Shaytan is making you do this, so recite this powerful dua:

"Outhzobillah Himinish Shaytanhir Rajeem"

Allah! I seek protection from the accursed Satan!"

Do Ayn Rand's books promote selfishness as a virtue?

In a manner of speaking, yes. As others have pointed out, she wrote The Virtue of Selfishness, which would appear to put the matter to rest. But she is widely misconstrued on this point. She herself made this clear when asked about charity, which she is assumed by many to oppose. What she was opposed to is being coerced -- physically or mentally/morally -- into being charitable. Rather, if one believed charity was important, good, moral (etc.), then one should be free to pursue being charitable. As many economists have demonstrated using mathematical models and an array of experiments, individuals can be both self-interested and act in ways that don't accord with base notions of "selfishness". The most obvious daily example is the sacrifice parents make for their children, even forgoing pleasurable experiences to leave resources behind after their death. Or, somewhat less commonly, volunteerism. But to Rand, this IS "selfishness", so long as one makes an individual decision to pursue it, as opposed to being told that it's the only moral course of behavior, or having personal labor and capital conscripted by The State or community. She chose "selfishness" partly for its shock value. It is more accurate to term it "self-directedness", "self-determination", or simply "unfettered personal liberty of thought and action". But those wouldn't open up people's eyes. And to think she picked up English as an adult...
