How To Go About Asking My Manager To Schedule Me For Less Hours

Should I ask my manager why they cut my hours?

It s summer and a lot people come home from college like I did in the winter. About 5-6 people came back. A couple of them came back and got 30-40 hours. I was working about 25-30 depending on the week. They took me off the schedule for Friday which I usually worked 6-9 hours. Instead I saw that they added a couple people who just came back instead. I thought it was because I had requested off a Friday for because I had a small surgery but I m still not listed and it s been 3 weeks.

I now have 3 days off instead 2 to and work 20 hours instead of 25+. I will admit some of them now how to do more things than me but I ve asked and they won t train me. They ll basically keep people at the same position until they quit/leave and are forced to train someone else. Also I m not a bad employee, I work pretty hard and have gotten 3 raises since being there and I get along with mostly everyone. Anyways point is, should I ask why they cut my hours? I don t want to sound rude or needy but I d like to work more since it s summer and I m saving for a trip.

My manager has been scheduling me less?

I work a part time job as a courtesy clerk at the Kroger store near my house, I normally get 30 hours a week, but my manager has been scheduling me less. Last week he gave me 25 hours, this week I only have 18 hours. This is making me a little upset cause it s been going on for 3 weeks now. Should I say anything? Or does it have anything to do with the holodays? I m already not getting paid enough hourly, and they won t promote me unless I m 18 years old so I m stuck with minimum wage at that store. I ve been considering just leaving and going somewhere I can make more than minimum wage (I have a few hookups) but I like working in that store, and once I turn 18 I could potentially get a big raise like the other guys who used to be in my position. What should I do?

Can i get fired for asking my boss for less hours?

He might. However you have worked there long enough, he must like you as a worker. If you go to him and say: My classes are taking up more and more time and they are very important to me. Would it be possible for me to work F/S/Sun? If he says no, then you may have to look for another job. But he may want to keep you as a part-timer, if the schedule can be re-arranged. You could also say that in the holidays you could revert back to full time. But yes, the chance is always there that he says no can do.

Will I get fired for asking for less hours?

I am currently working two jobs, one of them is at burlington coat factory it is my second job and it doesn't pay as well as my first which doesn't bother me but when i was hired there i told them i only wanted to work 10 hours, and of course they immediately scheduled me for 15 which I was fine with but now they keep giving me over 25 hour shifts and I'm already working 20 hours at my other job so I am working 6 days a week. Will i get fired if i tell them i can't work the 25 hours they are scheduling me? I talked to the manager already she said she was going to change my schedule but she didn't because she said they don't have anyone.

What is the best way of asking your boss for more hours?

Tell him you u understand the companies situation and really feel bad about asking for more hours, but you are having a difficult time with paying bills. Is it possible to bump you u up to more hours? If she/he says no, then say, okay, thanks anyways, but if any opportunity comes up for more hourse, please keep me in mind.

After that, I suggest looking for other work if u need the cash. Technically, you were quoted 15-24 hours, thus they did indicate the range and you are being given the minimum hours.

Good luck!

My manager cut my my hours off?

f you scheduale an employee from three days a week to two days a week. What does that mean?!

I went from three days a week to one day a week. I even asked the manager once for more hours. She told me she can't because she hired new people and has to train them and even said she cut everyone's hours off and it wasn't just me. Then i asked if she could put more hours for me next week. She said yes but when i looked at the new schedule, she only scheduled me one day a week. She also scheduled people to three days, two days, one day or four days.I asked the other manager if i could have extra two days on Saturday and Sunday. She said yes. But when i looked at this week's new schedule. She put two days for me. But i work this Thursday and next Tuesday which means i still work one day a week. But at least she put two days for me. The two extra days i worked, there were new people that needed to be trained so i helped them. I'm so depressed. I need the money. I don't have any friends to hang out with so i just keep myself busy with work. How do i convince the manager to give me more hours. Do managers even like it when employees ask for more hours. What does it mean when managers do this?

I plan on telling her that i enjoy working at the resturant, i would like to improve in my job seeing as i started a month ago. I searched for a job for two years before landing this one. i'm not letting this one go without a fight.

What does it mean if a boss puts you

How do I ask my boss for less hours?

I started a new, temporary (2-3 month job) with my university last week. When I first signed up for the job, I was only going to work 12 hours a week and go to school. However, once school was over, my boss asked me if I would work more hours and I obliged, thinking it would not be a big deal.

However, now that I have started, I've found that the 32+ plus hours are too much for the following reasons: 1) I am studying for the LSAT, a very important test for getting into law school. However, I find myself either not having enough time to study for it or too exhausted to study for it when I get home. 2) I have back problems that are flaring up from sitting in my work chair all day. 3) The job itself is just difficult and is both stressing and depressing me. None of these things were issues when I was first hired. When I interviewed, I told my boss I can manage stress and multiple responsibilities, so how do I tell her that I am just over-worked right now and need less hours?

How do I ask my boss for flexible working hours?

I hope you have given him enough before you are asking for something. I mean if you have been very dedicated & committed to work & have produced good results recently, in that case you already have a good base to ask for it otherwise build a base first. If your question is only about the process then you can request your supervisor for a short discussion & explain the problem you are facing. Ask your supervisor for assistance & let him come up with the solution to change your shift timings etc. If he doesn’t come out with this idea of your shift change/flexible working hours then you recommend & see his reaction. He should not decline unless it will impact the business. Be prepared with expected objections & their solutions.Best of luck !!

Can you ask your boss for less hours? How?

It depends on why you are wanting to work less hours. If you are in school, and are finding the balance between work and school unmanageable, then many bosses will be highly accommodating - particularly if your field of study relates to your job.If you just want to work less hours because you have another job, then this is unlikely to be looked on favorably. As a salaried employee there may be pay issues if you start working less hours. There may also be be issues if you start to fall below the threshold for full-time employment. If you are paid hourly, and your reduced hours do not create problems in terms of coverage then many employers will be fine with giving you reduced hours as, essentially, a perk.I routinely reduce scheduled hours for employees, at their request, so that they can have more time for school, family, and other issues.

Why am I only getting scheduled one day a week?

As a long term retail manager I can tell you that employee scheduling is one of the most frustrating things about the job. Within minutes of posting the schedule you have people coming to the office to tell you that they can't work those days of they need more hours or less hours, etc. This is made tougher today as companies often want managers to keep all employees under 230 hours per week because there are health care cost implications.

As an employer here is what I did:
1. If you complained about the schedule all the time I would give you less hours because I got tired of the complaints and figured since you couldn't work when I asked you I would just make it easier on both of us.
2. If you asked for time off all the time I would schedule you for less hours.
3. If I had any security concerns or training concerns about you I would only schedule you if there were other trusted employees available to train or observe you.
4. If you were not working out I would reduce your hours hoping that you would get the hint it was time to move on. I did not need to resort to this very often.
5. I am not a mind reader. If you told me 6 months ago that you can't work on Tuesdays I am still trying to honor that and won't know that the need for Tuesdays off is no longer there unless you tell me.

So I would go to the manager and say this, "I noticed that you had my hours cut down a lot and if there are just enough hours to go around, I understand. However, if there is something about my job performance that is resulting in you cutting my hours I'd appreciate it if you would let me know so I can do a better job and if I fail at that, so I can know I should move on and look elsewhere."

Best wishes!
