How do I send a letter to my friend in juvenile hall?

She told me she went before and to write her a letter because she gets really lonely and i feel for her because she really is a good person, so the mean answers aren't necessary. Anyways,I don't know how to address the letter. I tried looking it up and it says something about you have to address it to the inmates number?? Can't I just put her full name and the address of the detention center under it? Thanks.

How can I find out if my friend is in juvenile hall?

So I've heard that one of my friends is in Juvie but I'm not sure if it's true. I called them and they said they couldn't give me any information about him or if he's even in there. They told me I had to ask in person, I can't go all the way over there, especially since if I asked my parents to take me they'd freak out! How can I know if he's in juvie or not? I don't have his parents number, or adress, or anything. I don't even know his parents name, I don't have his phone number either.

Can you write to someone who is in juvie?

Most juvies allow juveniles to receive mail, although it is not required. Parents usually have to give permission to allow certain people to writing. So, if your friend is in juvie, you may want to ask their parents to add you to their mailing list. They can usually write back if they are allowed to have mail. But, you should also know that the guards usually read the mail, so you can't cuss, talk about illegal activity, gangs or the person's case. To find out if they received it, you would have to ask their parents if they received it. The juvenile detention center can't tell you if the juvenile is there, so they won't be able to tell you if they received a letter.

My friend went to juvie for 18 months when he was 14 years old...?

I used to treat kids coming out of Juvenile Detention here in Virginia, and it can certainly help, harm, or make little difference depending on the teen. I've seen some really difficult kids turn their lives completely around after serving short stints in Detention which is the best possible outcome. However, there are cases where kids come out angrier and more defiant than when they first went in (much like adults serving time in prison, but on a lesser scale). I think it just depends on the teen and their issues, the Detention Center they've been assigned to (let's face facts, some detention centers are better than others - i.e. less incidents of fighting & sexual assault among teens), and whether or not teens receive adequate therapy while serving their time.

Hopefully your friend was able to use his experience in juvie to better himself : )

How can I find out what jail my friend is in?

Go to jpay.com you can usually find somebody from there

Have you been to juvenile hall? If so, what did you do to get there?

No, I’ve never been to “juvie”, as it was called when I was a kid. However, when I was in high school, a friend-of-a-friend who was absolutely gorgeous, looked a good 3 or 4 years older than her actual age (15 or 16), and was into using drugs and dating lots of boys, told me that “When my mother feels like I’m out of control and she can’t handle me, she drops me off at juvie for a few days to give herself a break.”Yes, in those days, parents could actually do that! Her mother was a single mom ( single moms were unusual in that era and that socioeconomic class—circa the early 1970s in a working class neighborhood), and I’m sure this girl WAS a lot to “handle.” However, I doubt being thrown in with a bunch of juvenile delinquents was terribly helpful to my friend-of-a-friend.Edited to add: my controversial answers seem to be edited out of most feeds, including the feeds of my followers. Does anyone know if your parents can SEND you to Juvie?

No, my parents pulled this crap on me too. You have to break the law, or be deemed a juvenile delinquent. Her parents can take steps to get that done, but it's the judicial system that sends kids to juvie hall, not parents. They wish! If that were true, the world would be a much different place. A lot of parents have a hard time keeping their kids under control (like the punks that join gangs and such) if it were that easy to send them, the crime rate wouldn't be so high and gangs would be extinct. They can send you to military, boarding or catholic school. Most don't unless the kid is going way beyond normal teenage behavior, they like to use it as a threat to scare you into behaving. Trust me, It's a crock of $hit. I would have been there. Her mom is just scaring her, esp if this is the worst she has done. Her mother just wants to make sure she she won't do it again. Try and google Juvenile detention center in you're town and see what the requirements are. You will see, she is safe.

I look it up for you, like I said, you have to break the law. Juvie Hall is a prison for minors. No where on any juvenile detention website I looked at had sign ups or registration to send their kids in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_detention_center

My best friend is in jail and expelled from school?

I think that you're being a good friend. It's hard to tell people that your friends with someone who threw a kid threw a window, but I think that your very understanding. I'm used to this (well...sort of) we have a lot of fights (normally girl fights though) and one girl ended up in juvie for punched and teacher in the nose and breaking it! Throughing a kid threw a window is WAY more serious if he was in the hospital. Is that kid okay? Anyway, I say two to three years in juvie. It can't be more than four a lot. Probably more a like two in half years. I hope that helps!
