How do i gain a better vocabulary?

Step one is to concentrate on everything you say. focus on the point you want to get across, and form an eloquent and organized statement to achieve your goal.

To expand your vocabulary there are many tips and tricks that will help you. one is to read book at an increasingly higher level. Harry Potter and Calvin and Hobbs are fun, but they wont teach you new words. One good source for new reading material for a high school student such as yourself, is the local Junior College bookstore. They will have books and reading material designed for first and second year college students, so it will likely have a more elaborate vocabulary then the materials you are currently exposed to.

Another good habit to form is to work on using new words specifically. Think about the things that you say; then find new words to express the same statement. Instead of "this coffee is good" you could say something like "The flavor of the coffee is robust and aromatic." go into detail. Rather then saying a general statement, try and describe the feelings behind the general statement. And before you know it-- instead of saying "My vocabulary sucks. I honestly think i dont talk in a well orderly mannered fashion. How do i talk like i'm very intelligent? I'm 15. Try not to be a jackass about it.. Just help."

You will be able to say something like "I feel as though my vocabulary is inadequit. I believe my speech is disjointed and often unclear. I wish to sound more intellegent, and to better narraite my opinions. I am fifteen and have an honest and sincere desire to better myself and my communication abilities."

Good luck! I hope that helps.

Reading is a good way. Things you read are usually in context. Pick something that is slightly above your level and read a lot. This can work no matter what level you are at. If you are a beginner, read simple sentences from textbooks or some other source. If you are already somewhat fluent in a language, you can try newspapers or easy pieces of literature. Even native speakers have this issue. A lot of American students don’t have a very big vocabulary in things like science. Reading a bunch of books written for laypersons about science can help you improve your vocabulary. The first book might be tough, but after time, they will become easier to read.

There's no better way it should your way, the way you find it comfortable.First to be good at anything you need to push it. A skill is an art. It is a muscle. You need to work for it's every part. It's biceps and triceps and abs, work at calves and thighs. But then to push the muscle you need to have patience and love for it. Develop interest in improving vocabulary. Well then how do we do that? Simple, but not easy.Practice and interest development are interlinked. When you practice to make your vocabulary stronger ultimately you'll end up fascinating and flaunting your subject. And when you do it the other way round you'll end up taking it as a leisure activity. It's not something you need to find time for, it's works in the little tit-bits of your time-in the middle of the class, or reading a book, procrastinating on Quora. And if not that way I mean, if you want to spare more time on it then pick a dictionary for not more than 45 minutes a day and that would be more than enough. Don't you think that would better for competitive tests? The most easiest way I find is Pinterest.Tone vocabulary list.Words to describe sounds.Words with feelings.Writing tipsSorry for the inconvenience provided at places where the pictures are not clear but I assure that it's there on Pinterest with more clarity. And of course there's more you can find which includes shorter and easier to learn.

How would you suggest getting a better vocabulary?

My vocabulary became more complex and had more variety when I read novels. So i suggest you read some interesting novels (or at least good book) that you can understand, but still have a very small amount of difficult words. As you read the book, you will get the urge to search up the words because you don't understand what the word mean. Then later on as you talk and make conversation, those words you searched up will be in the back of your mind, and pretty soon before you know it you will use the word and will be used more frequently. It's kinda the same way how curse words become addicting to say. One day you say it for the first time, and then you end up saying it very often. The key is just knowing it in the back of your mind, and one day without thinking you'll say it.

The traditional way would be to start reading an English newspaper. It sure serves as a great means of enriching one’s vocabulary because you get to read articles pertaining to different domains (politics, business, marketing, sports, etc.), as a result of which, you learn words that could be used in various contexts.I would recommend watching English T.V. series flaunting good vocabulary, though. There are several benefits to this approach. First, not only would you get to learn new words, but you would rather find it easy to use them in your daily life because their usage over and over again in the series would make their usage look easy to you. Secondly, you’ll improve upon your rate of speech and your expressions while speaking, both of which add a lot to your personality. Now those are the two major advantages. There are more like you can improve upon your accent, also articulation comes in handy as the characters in such T.V. shows are eloquent speakers. Without further ado, here’s list of such T.V. shows.T.V. shows written by Aaron Sorkin, such as “The Newsroom”, “Sports Night”, or “The West Wing” flaunting rich vocabulary are a treat to watch. Others include, “HOUSE M.D.”, “House of Cards”, “The Big Bang Theory”, and “Sherlock”.Hope this helps, thank you! :)

You would need to know a broad spectrum of words:verbs!!! many of thosepersonal pronouns/ possessive articlesnounsadjectivesand many other useful words like adverbs ecetera. The question is so difficult to answer because when you get better at a language you will build up the number of words you know. But just knowing words will not be enough to speak German. In fact, German grammar is so complex that it needs to be studied and understood, so the words can be put together in the correct word order, in the correct case and with the correct endings. It really goes hand in hand.Take an A1 course book ( any of those will be fine) and have a look through the topics and the words. Then you will have a good idea about the words of A1 level. There are no words more useful than others, because it really is important that you can communicate in different daily Life situations. Usually the best approach is to learn Vocabulary along side sentence structure and also build writing, reading and listening skills at the same time. Just little by little. That is how language learning is most effective, because all skills are equally important. Not so much the number of words or the kind of words you know.

How to improve vocabulary?

improving your vocabulary takes time. i know two methods to improve it that i have and still use today:

1. whenever you come across a word you don't know, write it down on scrap paper. when you get home write the words and the meanings in a notebook. read through the whole (or a fair amount) of the notebook every night or every time you add a new word. this will create for you a repertoire of new words to use when writing.

2. sign up to www.dictionary.com word of the day. you will receive a daily email of a word and it's meaning. aim to use this word at least once throughout the course of the day.

good luck.

How do I utilize better vocabulary in my speech and writing?I am learning several new words everyday for a competitive examination; however, I am unable to subsequently inculcate a habit of consciously using these words in my regular speech and writing. Because of this, I am “functionally” still low in my knowledge of vocabulary. How do I overcome this?It sounds as if you do not have native English speakers to engage in conversation with. I think you will find answers to your question in the following topics:How do I need to study English to start speaking quickly and correctly? How can i learn and be fluent in English if I don't have even a single friend who will speak with me in English and correct me when I am wrong? How can I learn to speak English well in non-English environment?I want to improve my English speaking skills.
