How To I Get Better With Computers

Why are computers better than books?

The knowledge from computer is infinity. Not only getting knowledge, I could also join and give my knowledge to people around the world.
Another reason is that books are very expensive nowadays. To get information from computer is cheaper.

How do i make my computer run faster?

There may be two reasons why your PC is running slow.
1. You havn't cleant up your PC for a long time.
2. You have got a virus or spyware on your PC.
You may search http://answers.yahoo.com for answers
I suggest you to run a virus test firstly with your virus scanner:(if you don't have virus killer, you may try Bitdefender, it is the best:
1. Firstly, update your virus scanner database
2. Then run the scanner and check whether you have virus on your PC.
When you find viruses, Kill them!
3.Then Restart your Computer.

Now you'll find your PC is faster than before,
If not.
You may definetly need to clean up your PC.
Here is instructions about how to clean your PC: http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Your-Computer
1. Download a nice PC cleaner from http://www.pc-registry-repair.cc
(System cleaner is a best choice)
2. Run the cleaner and clean up your PC.
3. Restart your PC

How do i get my computer to handle better graphics?

Change that 1680x1050 resolution to something like 1280x800, or lower if you can stand it. It'll reduce the graphics demands on the video card.

The 8400 -- nvidia cards start with a number that tells you the series of the card -- in this case, 8 -- higher is better, but after 9xxx, it goes to 2xx. So 240 is better than 9400, and 560 is better than both 460 and 240. Sometimes you get letters after this as well -- the GS -- they're not so important. Anything below x60 (or x600) is usually bad for gaming.

1G (1024 MB) of memory is about minimum now for newer cards. 460+ is still OK, but just barely.

DirectX 10 is... complicated. Think of the number as the level of special effects it supports. So 10 is better than 9, 11 is better than 10, etc. Also look for OpenGL 3+. Again, higher numbers are better. Same idea as DirectX.

What are some good ways to get better at computer science?

I guess I can only talk about how I did this, and hope that this strikes a chord with you…First, a lot of reading. I am an avid reader. Not Microsoft manuals because they are dry and 40% of it is practically useless… but perhaps books about how to write operating systems in general… and practice writing an emulation of one. Perhaps get a copy of Visual Basic 6 and try writing something in that (before this software has no assistance on the Internet)… this was probably one of the best programs Microsoft ever sold (until they replaced it with VB Net, which is not nearly so intuitive). Try building a PC. It is expensive, but if you are careful and do not have 2 left hands and you are exceptionally careful, you should have success. And then load the computer with Linux. And set up a Web server. Add Samba (SMB) services, and configure that correctly. ok, now you probably know a lot about Computer Science. Of course this is only about 1% of all there is to know, but it is a lot more than most people know.

How do I get better at problem solving in computer science?

Alright… listen. What I am about to tell you might seem ridiculous or a joke, but it is NOT.You get better at problem solving by solving problems. Now, again… this is not some sort of triviality. Problem solving is an ability. For ALL your abilities you get better the more you are using them, and there are no shortcuts for that. You get better at playing the piano by playing the piano. You get better at lifting weights by lifting weights. You get better at running, by running. And…You get better at problem solving by solving problems. So grab a book like the Kleinberg and Tardos, and go over ALL the solved problems in it. Try to read it. Not to skim it. If you see something that you do not know what it is, because of, say, symbols that you are not comfortable with, then do not proceed. Stay there until you know what the hell you just read.Once you understand all these problems, that are already solved, start solving the problems that are not solved. Do not wait until your instructor assigns you some. Solve all of them.It may sound intimidating but consider two things:First, it is the only way.Second, the more you solve the easier they get, the easier they get the better you feel, so let's eat beans for eve… sorry… I meant to say that as you are solving, you will be getting better, and each next problem will be much less intimidating than you originally thought. Eventually, you will be so comfortable that you will perhaps be tempted to skip the remaining ones and move to the next chapter.DON’T. These problems are like antibiotics. You need to have the entire course even if you feel better before you are done with all of them. They all demonstrate something different sometimes some detail or nuance that only THEN you will be able to appreciate. They are not there like some sort of WoW grind quests. They matter. Now follow this advice and you will become a highly skilled problem solver. Guaranteed.

What is that one strategy to get better at Computer Science?

First you need to have zeal about learning new things.Second start with basic programming thrn OOPS then data structure and then Java. Master these and you will conquer any programming language. There are tonns of videos on YouTube explore them. Do mini projects yourself to get practical experiences. That's all

How do I become a better computer scientist?

You have at least two questions.  Let's look at each of them in turn...What does it take to be a good CS student? You didn't say, but I suspect you are an  undergrad, and probably early in the degree track.  At that level, you succeed by doing well in your classes.  Outside of that, by the time you're a junior, you should have written substantial things in at least 4 programming languages, including a functional language and an object oriented language.  Furthermore, you should be constantly finding reasons to design and create programs ("I need to add some numbers? I'll just write a little program to do that for me") and for learning new technologies. What does it take to be a computer scientist? When all is said and done?  Read lots of academic papers, do original research, write lots of academic papers about your research, write convincing grant proposals to get funding for more research, convince grad students to work on your research, rinse, repeat. How can you get motivated to do these things?Well, why do you want to be a computer scientist? What do you actually want to do?  Why do you want to do those (other) things? I suspect you are doing this not because you love the subject, but because someone told you to study it.

Does eyesight get better if you stop using the computer?

Right now I'm saving up for something extremely important so I'm on the computer quite a lot (online job). When I have enough money, I plan to stop using it. I'll use it only for about 1 hour a day (right now sometime it gets up to 15 hours).

So my eyesight is obviously getting worse, but I do eye exercises that sometimes seem to help. My question is, if, say, in about 4 to 5 years I stop using the computer, will my eyesight get better? For example, when I look in the distance after being on the computer, everything is blurry but it gets better in about ten seconds. So can my eyesight get better?

I'm 15 right now if age makes a difference.

Is it better to get a barebone kit or start from scratch? (computer)?

Your layout is all compatible and will run modern games, but you will probably need to buy optical disc drive, fast hard disc drive and 64-bit windows7 and suiting cabling, thats about 170 dollars. You also might need this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812119008. As for the barebone or start from scratch... thats up to your preferences, not much of a quality vs. price difference there. Dont forget anti static wrist strap btw. . Have fun.
