How To I Mount This Bolt Into Dry Wall

Wall mounted TV on adobe wall.?

I would not do it. Having lived in NM and in a home that was almost totally adobe, I know the holding power of the material. It is not really good. You would have to penetrate the adobe wall at least ten or so inches to get any purchase in the material, which is really dirt mixed with straw and sun dried into bricks. The long penetration could create enough stability to avoid the protruding end from "eroding" the holes you make, but you are risking the entire thing coming down sometime when you least expect it.
We hung pictures, but always made sure they were light framed, and we used wide threaded long screws into the wall with a pilot hole drilled at least 1/8th inch less than the diameter of he screw.
For heavier stuff, we either bought or made a stand for it, or we hung it from the vigas, the timber beams that spanned the ceilings. We got to where aside from being able to see the strands of wire, we could get close enough to the wall that it looked like it was hanging from it, but it was just leaned against it.
If you have plaster over the adobe, you might, maybe, be able to hang something that heavy, but it would depend on the depth of the plaster. In that case you would use a masonry bit at very slow speed on your drill to make the hole, which would be the same diameter as the bolt or screw you install to avoid the plaster cracking at the site.
Someone from the SW may have some better ideas, I am just relaying what our experiences were in a hundred year old house in NM.

Can I mount my TV into drywall without a stud?

I have a small, 8lb flat screen TV that I was hoping to mount to a wall in my room. I bought a tv mounting kit that tilts up and down and only realized afterward that I needed a stud finder and wall with a stud in it to hang this thing.
I don't own a stud finder and after wacking four holes into my wall, I was unable to find a stud (I knocked around the wall for a bit until I found an area to the left of an outlet that sounded as if it might have a stud behind it and used a long nail to hammer 4 holes about 1/4-1/2" apart with no success).
My question is, is it really necessary to anchor the TV mount into a stud if it only weighs 8 lbs including the mount, itself?
The screws for the base of the mount (the part that goes into the wall) are really big, so they won't fit into a typical drywall anchor if I were to pound a couple of those into the wall for extra support, so I don't really know what to do.
I'm trying to avoid going out and buying a stud finder that I know I'll never use again, especially when I'm not convinced the tiny area of wall I'm attempting to hang it on even has a stud in it (it's non load bearing and basically separates the bedroom door from the closet door).
Any suggestions/alternatives to mounting this in a stud?

How much weight can I hang from drywall?

Drywalls / plasterboards are very porous materials. This means that you can’t hang / attach anything heavy on the wall with only a screw or nail if you won’t find a stud. With that said, you need a drywall / plasterboard anchor that distribute the weight on a larger area behind the wall. The best product to use when hanging heavy items on a plasterboard / drywall is the Duck foot plasterboard anchor. It works for all kinds of plasterboards / drywalls, so you don’t need to know the thickness of your wall and the Duck foot anchor is super easy to install (you don’t need any special tools to install it). Each Duck foot anchor holds up to 50 kg (110 pounds) in shear load, so if you install 6 anchors in the wall to distribute the weight, it holds up to 300 kg (661 pounds). This is a link to the duckfoot website for more information: theduckfoot.com

How do I install a cabinet on a drywall using a toggle bolt?

To use a toggle bolt you need to drill a hole large enough for the toggle to go through while folded up. Probably the easiest way will be to place the cabinet where it goes and get it lined up like you want it, then drill through both the cabinet and drywall. ( I have benches that are the correct height to set on the counter and then sit the cabinet on them, shim it level if necessary.) You will need to use a washer larger than the hole you drilled. Once the toggle is in far enough to expand pull back on the bolt so that the toggle is pressed against the back of the drywall while tightening. There should be studs in the wall, at least every 24 inches, but usually every 16 inches. Unless it is a really small cabinet there should be at least one stud behind it. It would be much better to get a screw or two into the stud than trusting a toggle bolt. On the rare occasions I have a cabinet so small I can only hit one stud I will place screws in both the top and bottom of the cabinet and trust the one stud to hold it. I can see using a toggle just to keep it tight to the wall if the stud falls right at the very edge of a cabinet, but I do this for a living and the times I need to use a toggle are almost never. The last time I used a toggle bolt to hold a cabinet to the wall was over 20 year ago and it was a concrete block wall rather than drywall.

How much weight can I hang from a drywall ceiling with a toggle bolt?

I have a retractable projector screen that I would like to hang from my ceiling. I live in an apartment that is an all steel structure. I was told not to drill into the steel support beams as this would affect the sound dampening, but I am allowed to drill into the drywall (which they say is a double layer). The screen weighs about 20lbs, with an attachment point on each end. So each toggle bolt will have to support 10lb plus the stress of pulling on the screen to lower it. I stood there with my drill for about 20 minutes having second thoughts... i'm having visions on the screen coming crashing down bringing half the ceiling with it. Do you think the drywall can support the weight?

How to hang a dartboard on drywall?

So I play darts and have my own dartboard that I am trying to hang up in my room. I have the kind of board where the screw goes behind the bull, and it just hooks on to the piece in which you can spin the dartboard. I originally tried to hang the dartboard itself on the drywall but over a short period of time the screws will come out of the drywall. So I now have my dartboard connected to a backboard so I do not mess my darts up, and am wondering how can I get this on the drywall so it will stay there and not fall down. I am one of the least informed people about anything hardware related so if you do not mind please explain thoroughly. Thank you!

How do you fix cabinets to a drywall?

Floor cabinetsIf they are floor cabinets standing on the floor, then preferably by screwing through the back of the cabinet, into timber studs behind the drywall, (you may have to use a bracket) or using toggle bolts.Wall cabinets. If you are fixing wall cabinets, toggle bolts should be used sparingly.Finding studs. To find the timber, tap around wall lightly with a hammer until you hear a definite solid sound (use a piece of rag between hammer and wall to protect wall). A couple more taps and you will find the middle of the beam and which direction its facing. To be sure its timber behind the wall hammer a thin nail into the wall, you will know if it is timber or metal framework, If its metal then drill a guide hole smaller than the diameter of your mounting screw. The drill bit needs to be sharp, otherwise it will slip around on the metal, (behind the drywall). Or use special drywall screws which are self tappers, into the metal or timber. Then simply screw through the cabinet into the metal frame.Using toggle bolts. If you are unable to secure into the walls metal, or wooden frames, then you can use only toggle bolts.Woodworking: How does one fasten a bookcase to a wall? What's the difference between a drill and a hammer drill? How can I attach a wall clock with a toggle bolt? How do you drill into brick without a hammer drill? With a masonry drill bit.

How should you hang a deer mount?

If the mount is heavy, you need to spread the weight out on the drywall if you cannot find a stud behind where you want to hang it. I have two whitetail mounts on a family room wall. In both cases I went up into the attic and ran a short piece of 2x4 horizontally across between the vertical studs. I used this to reinforce the wall. and then ran a toggle bolt through the wall and 2x4, The mount hangs on the toggle bolt head.If you are mounting it on an internal wall where you cannot get to the back or inside the wall. Try to find a stud and put a deck screw or other wood screw into the stud that will probably hold it fine.If you cannot find a stud. A toggle bolt for drywall will probably hold if okay.Below is a toggle bolt. You locate where your mount hanger on the back side will be on the wall, use a drill or screwdriver to make a hole large enough for the spring toggles to fit through. I put a large fender washer (large washer small hole) by removing the toggle putting on the washer then threading it back into the toggleThe fender washer and toggle bolt is below. Then put it through your hole in the wall and tighten it. Now it might seem a bit wobbly in the wall, so tighten it up leaving just enough to take the mount hanger on the back. If you want to get fancy you can put another nut on before the washer, and tighten the nut against the fender washer to steady up the toggle bolt in the hole and hold the bolt a steady distance from the wall. The fender washer is to keep the bolt from falling into the larger hole in the drywall.
