I keep trying to install with the link from the hp website. I have the printer plugged in, connected to my wifi, and plugged into my computer via usb. I keep trying to install the drivers but it keeps shutting down at the 'Applying Updates' step in the installation process. Please help! The reason they sell the low priced All-in-One scanners is that by buying one you become an automatic subscriber to their expensive ink cartridges. I use generic ink cartridges from Amazon that cost pennies, literally, compared to the brand name. They tend to clog up if not used frequently, so I no longer recommend them as an alternative. But if you don't plan on using the printing function, this might be a perfect workaround, because the machine will see that it has ink and work as a scanner. It will not work if it detects it is out of ink. It will beep and alert you to replace any empty ink cartridges before it will continue.
