How do I install SIM driver software in an HP EliteBook 8460P?

How good is the Elitebook 8460p to use in 2019?

Lovely if light.Mine runs on Windows 10 Education (Has all features in pro and enterprise versions, only the name is deceiving) and Arch Linux, has i5–2520M, 8GB RAM, 128 GB SSD. I use it for light tasks like browsing, reading, movies, etc. I do some android coding as well sometimes, but heats up a lot while building and running the emulator.I love this machine for its ruggedness. Though it weighs a lot, it has survived a lot of attacks from me. The glass track pad is simply impeccable. The keyboard is super clicky and feels so good to type. Boots up in just around 15 seconds (Thanks to the SSD). This has a SIM card slot, fingerprint reader, ExpressCard reader all of these usable even today! The fingerprint reader is just so comfortable to use. Another good thing is that this is a relatively famous machine, so you can get support for any problem you encounter on the internet. Opening up and cleaning or replacing the main parts are just a matter of pushing two buttons. No screws, no rubbish. Is it usable now? Yes, definitely. But heavy usage? It will start smelling burnt and I am not even exaggerating.

What is the best GPU to use for my HP Elitebook 8540w? I have already seen the supported list, but am looking for something better.

Do not go beyond the supported list. GPUs generate a lot of heat and if your laptop seems like it should accept the GPU but does not, then Foxconn engineers have determined that the heat will be more than their anemic thermal systems can handle. You will ruin the GPO in short order and until it goes you will be subjecting the rest of the laptop to extra heat and wreaking havoc with those chipsets.Go with a laptop that has a more robust thermal protection engineered into it and you will find your GPU options will expand. Of course this will cost more than a mass market Chinese laptop but it all comes down to want you want. Even if you did run your GPU of choice safely, the heat would clock it back and you would only be getting the GPU name not the speed you desire.Jerry ext. 11M-Tech laptops Technical Adviserwww.m-techlaptops.com

Why is the sound not working on my HP laptop?

There might be two reasons for that and they are:Your Audio Drive needs update. To update your audio Driver, go to Desktop, search for “My PC, This PC or My Computer”. Then, right click on it and select “Manage”. Then choose “Device Manager”>“Audio inputs and outpts”Click on it and update the driver. For this, you should have an internet connection.2. 2nd Possible Reason is that, you need to troubleshoot the Audio Settings on your HP laptop. You can check what is happening in it. For this, on the bottom right corner, you can see an audio speaker. Right click on it and do “Troubleshoot”.If there is no any problem with the audio driver, then, you need to change the new Speakers on your HP Laptop.

Can my laptop support more than the rated maximum amount of RAM?

The Laptop’s max RAM is dictated by the mother board, which is the HM170 Mobile, more info here: Mobile Intel® HM170 Chipset (Intel® GL82HM170 PCH) SpecificationsYou have only 2 DIMM slots and a max of 32GB by specs.Hence three things are likely to happen:The RAM works but only shows 32GB usable. The RAM works but Windows won’t boot or you BSOD.The RAM doesn’t get detected at boot, the computer beeps for error (RAM unsupported). These are the most common things happening, the 4th option being that a BIOS update was released and the limit of RAM on the motherboard was increased.

How can I determine if I am using an integrated or dedicated graphics card in my PC?

Right cick your screen choose screen resolution and then  cklick advance setting. Your infoemation needed will be appeared like this:This is my acer E1-451g AMD A8-4500. Unlike running dxdiag, using this methode make us know dedicated, shared and total graphic memery.Sometime, dual vga (ussually intel HD/nVidia) laptop can not be detected by using this methode, and just Intel Hd appeared in screen. Then, you have to use GPU-z software.  It will appeared like this:GPU-z provide you more information, but sometime the datas we get are not valid. Those acer E1-451g dedicated memory size above will be written as 4 gb instead of 2.5 Gb!!!!I prefer using this two methode than dxdiag, since dxdiag only provide information about total vga memory size.
