How to install windows 7 hard disk

How do I install Windows on a new hard drive?

Did you already insert and plug in the new hard drive? If not do so.Do you already have a windows installed on another hard drive in the same computer? If so, do you want to "move" your installation over to the new hard drive? If so then look for hard disc imaging / cloning tools - basically you'd be copying all the data (including the Windows installation and all programs) from the old HDD to the new one. You may need to have a boot-from-disc/usb OS to do this so you can read all the parts of your C drive. Then make sure your BIOS (i.e. bootup of your computer - press something like Del at the boot up screen, it should state what key to press) is set to boot from the new HDD instead of the old one. Or just unplug and remove the old one.Otherwise: The other answers simply state how you'd install it from scratch. Usually you'd either have purchased a DVD with Windows on it, or you downloaded an ISO file from Microsoft's web site. If the later you need to burn the ISO image file onto a DVD before you can boot from it. It may be necessary to change some settings in your BIOS so it tries to boot from the DVD instead of from the HDD.
