How To Keep A Cartilage Piercing Open For 7 Hours

Can i take my cartilage piercing out now?

ok guys so i got my cartilage pierced on december 9th, 2011. to this date it has been roughly 7 weeks since i have had it pierced. little to no more crusties no more pain ( unless its like pulled hard or hit hard) and it moves freely.my piercer said in 6 to 8 weeks icould take it out and change it depending on how fast i heal. i really wanted to wait another month or so just to be surreee but im kinda in a pickle. i just went back from being homeschooled, to public school 2 weeks ago thursday. the new semester started today and guess what i have next? P.E! and our school has a pretty strict no piercing policy in P.E. for liability reasons and what not :( i have long brown thick hari which easily conseals it, but while running its flying everywhere and you can see my piercing. one option is to put part of a skin colored bandaid on it to cover the piercing but that doesnt always work.

but the even worse thing is if they catch you with a piercing they not only make you take it out and put in on this nasty germ infested cart, but they also deduct points from your grade:(

soo i was wondering if yu guys thought it was sfae to take it out? not for long of course, i only have P.E. 3 days a week. 2 days only 45 mins and the other day 1hr 30mins. so i would only have to take it out for that amount of time in the day and i could keep it in a sterila baggie. i could also put an actual WHOLE BANDAId on the piercing open hole, to conceal it from germs while im running.

but anyway can you guys give me tips on what i should do and if its ok to take it out or good ways i can hide it?? :) no rde answers please!

Is it okay to take my cartilage piercing out a week after I got it for a 4-hour volleyball tournament if I put them in right after?

If you can, try to put piercing tape over it instead.Basically all piercings need 6 weeks to heal before you can remove them, especially cartilage.I used to have a nose piercing, and even after two whole years of having it, it would begin to seal up after just an hour.Every person is different but, if you take your piercing out for four hours expect an extremely sore half re-pierce at best. Your body hasn’t gotten used to it yet, so will try to heal as quickly as possible. Your risk of infection is much higher too.A bit of tape will hopefully be ok, you’ll just have to be super careful not to get whalloped in the ear by the ball! :)

How can i keep my cartilage piercing from closing if i have to take it out for a few hours?

TAKE A SMALL COMB AND CUT TWO TEETH OFF AND REPLACE THE EARRINGS WITH THEM

How long can i leave my cartilage piercing out?

After it has fully healed (which takes 6 months to a year) you can remove the jewelry for a few weeks weeks before it will begin to heal closed. For a fully healed cartilage piercing to close completely takes months.

How long do I leave my cartilage piercing out? I have had it for about three weeks now and it recently got infected. Do I leave it out over night so I don't irritate it further? Or do I let it close and just get it repierced?

You shouldn’t do either of those. If you take it out for the night it will be closed up by the time you wake up. If you let it heal then re-piercing it will likely be more painful. You should be cleaning your piercing everyday with a mix of 1 teaspoon of sea salt to 1 tablespoon of water, and occasionally throw in 1 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide (about 1–2 times a week). Keep doing this until the infection clears up. If it doesn’t then it may mean you could be allergic to the type of metal, and try switching to the purest gold, silver, or titanium that you can get. If any of these don’t work you should get in contact with your piercer, as they may help.Hope this help!

When is it ok to leave out a new cartilage piercing?

Never. Well, wait.  After six to twelve months you can take them out for a few hours or a day to practice karate or appease your grandmother, but unlike lobe piercings, which can stay open for years without closing, cartilage piercings close quickly.  For some people that means a few weeks, and for some people it takes less than a day.To take them out for any time longer than an hour, they need to be healed.  Time varies with each person.  It takes me about 8 months.  Even when healed, keep an earring on hand in case the hole starts to look smaller.   Watch your piercing when the jewellery is out to be safe, and learn how long you can leave them out.  I got my first cartilage piercing in the 90s.  My ears are now full.  I've never left jewellery out for longer than an hour.  That's enough time to take everything out, leave the jewellery to soak, take a shower and scrub my ears, and put them back in.  But I'm used to having everything in, and look funny with 18  empty holes in my ears.  If I left them out, I'd worry.  You don't need to be as strict as me, but do be careful.  Start with 6 hours, then 12, then overnight.  And so on.Long story short: Healing takes six to eight months.  Wait until then to test them.  Watch the piercing hole carefully, and carry jewellery back up.  Everyone's body is different.  And remember: it can always be opened by your piercer or repierced in the worst case scenario.  I had my nose redone in the same spot with no trouble.

I've had an ear cartilage piercing for 5 years and I am tired of it. If I take out the earrings and leave them out, will the hole go away?

They way in which your body heals is unique to you, so it is impossible to know what will happen, until it happens. That being said, here are some tips. First, do not succumb to the temptation to stick jewelry back in to see if it had closed. You will likely pierce any healed tissue you have formed, sending you back to square one, and you will likely not even realize you did so. Also, be patient. Your body wants to heal your ailments, and you need to let it do so. Sometimes this means closing the hole completely, sometime this means leaving it exactly as it is. Regardless, with very few exceptions, unless you are looking closely as your ear, a normal helix piercing without jewelry is difficult to see, and that is the main point, is it not?Best of luck to you.

Need to take my cartilage piercing out, will it close up?

I've got PE tomorrow and I've had my cartilage done for about 4 months, is it okay if I take it out for an hour? I changed it a couple of days ago and the earring went in fine. I'm just not sure about the whole hour though. Is it likely to heal over or anything?

Thank you. :)

Can I take my cartilage piercing out without it closing?

mine only took 9 weeks to heal, but i'd recommend keeping it in as long as you can; i kept having to take mine out for classes and stuff from about 6 weeks onwards, and while it's possible to leave it out (mine would be out for about 5 or 6 hours at a time), it got a couple of nasty infections this way due to the movement of bacterica in and out of the unhealed wound; its the only piercing i did that with, and with my others (i have 8 in total) i kept them in full-term and never had a single infection.
