How can I sleep less and study more without affecting my brain power and recollection efficiency?

My ideal learning schedule is:Wake up early.Study hard for three hours.Exercise while studying a bit more (Regular exercise changes the brain to improve memory, thinking skills - Harvard Health Blog).Eat, nap.Study for four more hours.Eat, nap.Chill out a bit.Review the day’s work for the hour before bed.Sleep.If you can’t do what needs doing in nine dedicated hours a day, you’re making mistakes somewhere and those should be corrected.

Why is my boyfriend still keeping his ex's painting?

My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year now, but the last time I was at his place I noticed that a painting of a girl in his bedroom had his ex's signature. I can't see the girl's head, but I'm pretty sure it's his ex. I know I may sound a bit like a creep, but they were together for almost two years and broke up a year before we started our relationship, so I don't see why it's still there. It's the only painting in the room and it's the first thing you see when you wake up. He told me a hundred times he was the one who broke up and that he's over her, but should I worry about it? I don't keep stuff my ex-boyfriends gave me, at least not in visible places. The painting just makes me feel really uncomfortable. Has anything similar ever happened to you? Please help.

I have a really, really bad memory. Help?

I have a really bad memory. I'm only 18, I don't drink alcohol or take any type of drug (legal or illegal), and for the past few years it’s felt as if my memory has been declining. I mean, I actually have to stop and think about what I did yesterday, and not only does it take me ages to do so, but I can’t even recall everything. Also, the memories feel so fuzzy as if I’m trying to recall something I did a year ago and not just a few hours ago.

It’s becoming a serious problem and I really don’t know what to do. My memory used to be great. When I first started studying Japanese a few years ago my “instructor” used to be so amazed at my ability to pick things up and actually keep them in my brain. I’ve been trying to pick up the language again but I’m finding it really hard to do so because nothing is really sticking. I feel like there’s some kind of wall in my head that’s blocking me from accessing my memories and recollections of things. Sorry if that sounds insane, but it’s the way I feel.

I’ve been diagnosed with dysthymia in the past, but I’m unsure if that has anything to do with it. Right now, I’m more concerned about what the heck is going on and how I can overcome it.

Can anyone suggest anything? I’ve been told to take Ginko Baloba, a memory enhancer, but I’m weary of taking medication, period (even if it’s really just an ‘herb’).

When I study, I remember everything. But during the exam, I forget everything. I can't remember a word properly and everything is shuffled in my mind. How can I improve my memory?

When you study something, concentrate and avoid distractions. Letting your mind wander somewhere else wont help.Avoid exam fears. Avoid thoughts like "what if this question doesnt come?" "What if the question I dint study appears in the question paper?"etc.When you study some answer make yourself believe that if that question comes, you will attempt it and write the best answer possible. Train yourself to believe in you. That is, what you study will definitely come in the exam. Because sometimes when we study doubtfully and even if the question appears, we tend to forget the answer because of the loss of interest and concentration while studying.Visualise what you study. Highlight the important sentences and concepts because when writting you will remember better and you will be able to visualise the answer. Trust me. It happens and I'v experienced it. Try this:Do this before going to sleep. Imagine you writting your exam.Visualise your confident and happy face and imagine that you are writting the exam really well.Visualise the way you write, the kind of questions you answer (including you exiting the exam hall and talking to your friends about how easy the exam was! It might sound crazy but believe me it works) and continue doing it till you fall asleep.Do this everyday.Trust me, you will see the impact on the day of your exam. :)All the best :) P.S: Let me know if it worked :). 20 Years old and bad memory problems?

It happens to the best of us especially when you deal with many people in a day or an hour. When you’re in a hurry or when you are distracted you’re caught off guard that’s when you forget. You need to build landmarks (Identifiers) with people so you don’t forget. Keep a memory pad with you with your co-workers names and maybe a picture and a brief about the person. You need to write everything down especially taking orders like an hour before lunch send a few emails out and coordinate lunch that way at least with email it’s written down you just simplify your list from the emails.

I use two separate pads one for my to-do and one as my phone log I mark them with a P/ for personal stuff and W/ for work related stuff. And then I have my daily list of stuff that needs to be done and I do the same I mark them with a P/ for personal stuff and W/ for work related stuff. For completed objectives I use a highlighter so I can read back what the item was that i checked off as completed.
