Can you wash white clothes with colors?

Never wash brand new bold colored clothes with lightly colored clothes. The deep bold colors on on clothing is more likely to bleed onto lighter ones, more so when they are brand new. Washing in cold water can help but it isn’t a perfect solution. It is not a good idea to wash whites with colored clothes if you want your white clothes to stay white. Cold water washing will not make clothes bleed color like hot water will. Color transfer can still happen when using only cold water so it is best to keep colors and whites separated. But if you are washing along with old or faded color clothes you can take a chance, white vinegar in the final rinse (you can put it in the fabric softener dispenser or add it manually to the final rinse) will help to 'set' color so it is less likely to be transferred in future wash loads. 1 cup of vinegar per a full load (1/4 cup per small load, 1/2 per medium load) would be sufficient. If you dry them together, only turn the colored clothes right side out.Hope you find this helpful.Find out, how I know!!Lets Laundry | Dry Cleaning & Laundry Services | Free Pick & Drop

Oxygen or chlorine bleach, applied as part of the washing process when the yellowing or graying starts to appear. How do I keep white cottons white? Especially white cotton dupattas. They tend to get yellowish very soon. Within a month of buying.

The yellow colour could be due to a variety of causes:Minerals or rust in the laundry water itself.  The water is yellow before you even wash the clothes.Yellowish dust in the air.  If you rinse the clothing without any soap, and the water comes out yellow, then you are seeing simple dust -- you should not need to bleach the garments in this case.  Just wash with soap or detergent.Smoke and car fumes in the air, this is common in large cities. This type of soil when it settles on clothing is a mix of both dust and oil, so you need a good detergent (soap) to get rid of the oily component of the dirt.If the cotton is pure white then a small amount of bleach in the wash water can be used.  Make sure to rinse well.  If there are coloured decorations, bleach will fade the colours. If the dupattas are not pure cotton, but have polyester mixed in, then chlorine bleach will turn the polyester yellow!  So you need to be sure of the fibre content.So-called Oxygen bleaches are more gentle than chlorine bleaches, but on white clothes you can use either one.  Oxygen bleach is also called Colour-safe bleach here in Canada; I'm not sure if that is the same in India.  ALWAYS dilute the bleach according to the label.  NEVER use it straight.  I usually use about half the recommended amount of bleach the first time.  Just to be on the safe side.Indian brands for oxygen bleach are Skylab Vimoxi, OXO Brite, Biokleen oxygen bleach. Vanish has oxygen-based bleach as one of its ingredients. (Indian source) Oxygen Bleach and Chlorine Bleach: How to Use Bleach in Your Laundry
