Hi this summer I'm going to Italy and I would like to learn a bit of Italien. Does anybody know a online thing (or another way) to quickly learn some basics in this language?

Fastest way to learn a Language?

I'm learning at least eight languages because I'm becoming a translator when I'm older.
You're not mad, I have the same goal as you, lol
I'm already fluent in English and Greek.
And I'm currently learning Spanish and Finnish. (I know the basics for both of those)
But I'm working on becoming fluent in them. After that I'm going to learn French, Italian, and Chinese (You gotta learn Chinese or Russain to become a translator :|)
The way I learned is talking to Finnish people on facebook and going online and reading their grammar rules and basic phrases.
Also if you need to hear them, I recommend youtube.
And there are websites that will teach you for FREE. Just google it.

ALSO DON'T GIVE UP!!! This can be really easy if you really want it!!
I forgot another way to learn is think like a "baby" I know weird right?
Cause when you're a baby you don't understand anything and you learn by hearing and seeing. Well do that with another language. Start going on youtube and watching shows in different languages, listen to their music, set your facebook in another language. And all that jazz.
I recommend no english subtitles. But when you do that it'll give you a head ache

What's the secret to learning a language fast?

I think that one is capable to learn a language much faster if he or she is passionate or enthusiastic about learning it. Think about it, if you love something you will naturally want to do that thing, and it will seem a lot easier to level up or progress in you language journey. Language learning won’t seem like a chore that you’re dreading.I have studied French from 3rd grade of elementary school up until 12th grade of highschool, because it is part of the Canadian curriculum.. but I don’t remember a single thing that I learned…. because I hated it … I just memorized stuff to pass exams and then I’d forget everything… Same goes for a lot of people studying Spanish in the U.S…. Many students to learn it faster if they don’t care about learning it in the first place.Factors that lead to faster progress in language learning:While it is true that you can’t make your brain work more or change the way that you naturally learn best ect. However, there are factors that will help you speed up your learning such as, being immersed in the language… The best way to achieve this is to go on a year abroad and take language classes at a language institute in that country. You will be able to retain and build on your knowledge a lot faster as you will be regularly using the things that you learn in class. If you can’t afford to travel overseas b/c it is quite costly the next best thing to do would be to make friends with a native speaker of that language, maybe you could befriend an exchange student, or join a community group. If the above option doesn’t work… go online to interpals.com, or italki.com, or any language exchange, penpal site that will allow you to connect with a language buddy…. you can skype them or text them for practice.STUDY DAILY!!! you need to do this so that you don’t forget what you have learned previously… you need constant reveiw!

How can I learn Turkish language fast?

Watch nice Turkish series. I’d recommend some, Muhteşem Yüzyıl as many like it, Aşk-ı Memnu, Cesur ve Güzel, Ezel, Hatırla Sevgili. This way you will immerse yourself in the language more efficiently.Buy a language book that has basic phrases and basic sentences, also some grammar for surviving. Also you can study through Memrise, a great language website and free. Then listen to Turkish songs, try to watch Pepee (Turkish cartoon character) maybe because its level of Turkish must be lower. Then you develop your Turkish abilities. One hint from me, it is called ‘Türkçe’ by its native people, us. So here you already have learnt a Turkish word!(Pepee çizgi filmi - cartoon)If you have Turkish speaking people in your town, talk to them. Or find some online. Natives or people who speak it nearly perfectly. If you have opportunity to attend a language course, go for it.Then do the things I said at the same time. Watch, read, speak to Turkish speaking people. Study more.It naturally takes one to two years for any learner to accomplish fluency level in the given language. Turkish is even harder if you are not used to its structure different than European-Latin-Anglosaxon languages. It can take more time or it can be the same if you study frequently.Good luck! Hope you will think it is worth it at the end! For me, I don’t think it is the most useful language in the world but it has a good sound, as many agree, and it is rich in including Farsi, Arabic, Greek and some French words, we have beautiful words. Our literature is rich too. Enjoy the ride!(Keep calm and speak Turkish!)

How can I learn a language faster, like a polyglot? What are the steps?

“Polyglot” is defined as someone that knows several languages, it is not mentioned how many for sure but we just know that it is “several”. So, in order to be able to know the language passively (to understand) and actively (to use) in short time, let’s say, less than 6 months, here are what I suggest:Firstly, you need to learn languages that are similar with the language(s) that you already know. This saves you a lot of time because they usually share lots in common, you will be able to understand even without learning it. Some similar languages are like Spanish & Portuguese & Italian, German & Dutch & Afrikaans, Indonesian & Malay, etc. Aim for languages from the same language family.Secondly, customise your learning material. What I like to do is to write several sentences about events that are related to me, such as “today I went to ….”, “I did ….”, “I was with …”, etc. and translate them to your target language (you need someone to help with translation because machine translation isn’t reliable)Thirdly, repeat them frequently. If you observe our daily communication, you will find out that we actually often say the same/ similar phrases, such as “Where is it?”, “Can I get it?”, “What is your…?”, “I think so”, etc. Focus on these phrases. Hint. You don’t need to learn words from certain field of study if you are not going to talk it. For example, don’t need to learn computing terms if you won’t talk about it.Fourthly, do #2 and #3 as often as possible and as you are increasing your vocabulary, you also can increase your knowledge by learning any related information. So, for example, when you are learning about how to buy fruit in the market, also learn about the names of other fruits and how to say the characteristics (color, shape, etc.)Fifthly, it is easier to understand than to use it actively (speaking/ writing) if you learn languages by yourself but don’t worry because you will be able to use it well quickly once you have the chance. It is because during your lonely study, your brain accumulates words and knowledge about the language, and when you have the chance to speak/ write, the task of your brain is shifted to pairing words. Most of the time, we can find people who are lost in the communication because they have limited vocabulary and knowledge about the grammar.

How do you learn to read foreign languages faster?

Copy.Yes, you read that right. It is a very effective method in trying to read faster in a foreign language, provided you don’t use a mouse to do that.I’m telling this only because it worked excellently, wiping away my invisible but heartfelt sweat that would flow in the form of tears (invisible) whenever I’d be asked to read a chunk of Hebrew text in class.  When asked to read, I’d be thinking of appearing like a fool that makes stupid mistakes. It was not an unbiased fear. I would often make stupid mistakes, such as:I’d misread a letter (Hebrew has two forms of the same letter, which often look very different or confusingly very similar to my dyslexic eyes),Get daunted by the length of letters strung together, in trying to guess pronunciation of the word (Hebrew doesn’t use much vowels, so a prior knowledge of words are necessary). Big words made me stop in my tracks as soon as I’ve only just started.Read something totally wrong.Read ridiculously slow owing to all or any of the above factors.A Hebrew teacher gave me the cure. It worked like a balm, soothing away all my fears, and smoothing up my reading speed by several couple of notches:So, pick up a pen, find a chunk of text in that foreign language, and just see and replicate what you see, as is. Do it several times, till practice makes perfect. When we are trying to read, our brain is trying to make sense of an arrangement of alphabets. For Exemple, it doeasnt mattar how I write oveer here. You can still meke sense of it. Btu yuo will proabalby mkae fun of it, or suggest edits, or tihnk I don’t knwo hwo to spell. What keeps us off from reading faster in a language is unfamiliarity with the alphabets and our fear to tread the unknown path as laid out by a by a string of newly learned alphabets; hence, we tend to tread carefully —we try not to miss each letter as we come across them, and get slow in the process. But we don’t remember that it’s not how we read in general, while reading in a language we are fluent in. We are just not conscious of the process as it happens. When you are copying (or writing) an arrangement of letters, it makes it easier for your brain to practice and internalize, the sequence in which the letters are supposed to occur. Not to mention, it’s also a good way to get the context of a specific word usage, and learn the spellings as well.Try it, and Happy Learning!
