How can I get maximum speed of WiFi when multiple users are connected?
If you have access to the router, you can use a feature that is built into most of them called QoS or Priority Settings.Qos can be implemented in two ways; you can either configure a single IP which is given priority or you can prioritize traffic based on its protocol (http/Voip/Bittorrent..).Log in to your wireless router and navigate to a section that says 'QoS'/Priorities :From there, you can set a specific IP, traffic from which will be treated as of high priority over the others.
Is it possible to limit wifi speed without QoS on router?
I have a Sky Hub SR102, I would like to limit the bandwidth of some wifi connected devices, but I have not found any QoS setting on the router, and as far as I read on the internet there isn't any. Nor custom firmwares that could solve my problem. I'm not very familiar with networking, is there any way to solve this?
In my college people connected over WiFi get a limit on maximum speed which is the same irrespective of number of clients. Can I bypass this restriction?
It is possible to do this, but I would suggest you invest in a good internet connection rather than indulge in something illegal that can harm your career in any way. When I was in college, we had poor internet connection. Everyday I would dream of having a good internet connection, but had no options. Now you can easily get a 3G connection from multiple service providers. BSNL is going to upgrade its minimum speed to 2 Mbps from first of October. An unlimited connection with 2 Mbps speed will cost you less than INR 800.Alternatively you can do what I did, and that is wait. I waited till I got a job, got a 16 Mbps - 200 GB connection.
Is there a way to set speed limiter on a device connected to wifi?
I hope you meant "How to limit the bandwidth for different devices that are connected through a single WiFi connection without disturbing other devices' allocation?"It's real simple.Every router company has it's website that controls it and it can be operated by your login and password you have given while setting up your router. For example:If you are using a router of TPlink;Open http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinklogin.net.If it asks for the login provide your Login and Password you have assigned at the time of initial set up of the router.. It's usually admin:admin. There you will find all kinds of stuff written which will only make sense if you are at-least a naive student of this subject. If not just continue. Find your way to DHCP settings. There you will find DHCP Client lists. Open it and you will find all the devices that are currently connected to your router with their IP Addresses and details.Copy the IP Address you want to alter your bandwidth and make your way to Bandwidth Control settings. There in Bandwidth control rule settings, paste that IP Address in IP Range and then adjust Egress and Ingress bandwidth settings depending on the speed of your connection and enable your settings. You can always change them back so don't worry about that!
How can I limit internet speed of certain devices connected to my wifi?
Actually this depends on the type of router you are using. Most of the routers have bandwidth control function but, they will allow to control the speed of all connected devices at once. Login to your router >> Check for Bandwidth Control Option >> Enable and set bandwidth. Assigning different bandwidth to different devices is not possible directly. So, there is an hack to do so.Set DHCP server to Off. (Now you need to assign IP's manually to each and every device.)Now configure rule as above. Make 2-3 rules ! Ex: for Ip range 0.100 - 0.105 speed will be 1Mbps and from 0.106 to 0.110 speed will be 2Mbps etc.Now assign ip to device according to your need. If you want to give 1mbps speed to that device, add the IP of that range and if 2Mbps then IP of range 106 to 110.
How to reduce Wireless / Wifi speed ?
So I have a BSNL Broadband connection at my home with a ZTE ZXDSL 531b wireless router. I have connected my computer over LAN to surf internet on my PC. The only problem is my little sister. She had an wifi android mobile, So she used to surf youtube on her mobile all day long, consuming most of the bandwidth of my internet connection. Due to which the internet speed on my PC reduces to much that I can't even open websites properly. So Is there any way to decrease the speed of my wifi connection, I don't want to act rude with my sister and tell her to stop using Wifi. Is there any way so that my PC gets priority over her mobile? I know there is a configuration page which I can access using 192.168.1.1, It also has a Wireless -> Advanced page which has the following options : 54gRate :1Mbps-54Mbps (Currently set to Auto) Multicast Rate : 1Mbps-54Mbps (Currently set to Auto) Basic Rate : All, 1 & 2 Mbps, 1 & 2 & 5.5 & 6 & 11 & 12 & 24 Mbps (Currently set to Default) Fragmentation threshold : Currently set to 2346 RTS threshold : Currently set to 2347 DTIM Intervel : Currently set to 1 Beacon Intervel : Currently set to 100 54g Mode :54g Peformance, 54g LRS, 802.11b Only (Currently set to 54g Auto) Preamble type : Short, Long (Currently set to long) Transmit Power : 20 - 100 % (Currently set to 100 %) What setting I should change so that She gets slow speed on her mobile, Or I get a priority of speed over her mobile? She is a noob in computers so she won't come to know anything about what I did.
Why does my WiFi properties say my speed is 72.2 Mbps but it's not?
When I go to the network and sharing center of my computer and click on my WiFi under connection it says Speed: 72.2 Mbps But my speeds never come within 72 Mbps of that, why is this and am I misunderstanding that section?
Is there a program that can mess with people on my wifi?
My cousins are staying at my house for a while and keep using up all the bandwidth. They go and play games on their Ipads which is really kicking my bandwidth speed when I'm playing a game. Is there a program that can limit how much they can take in or completely stop it while making is seem anonymous? I don't want to change the password because that would be to obvious, and typing in my IP gateway doesn't open squat.
