How To Make My Itunes Purchases Appear On Both Computers

Why can't I play iTunes-purchased songs on another computer?

Ok, so here's the deal. I have 2 computers. One of them has internet access (we'll call it comp #1), and the other doesn't (we'll call that one comp #2).

So, about a week ago, I decided to get an iTunes store account. I bought a gift card, and set up the account on comp #1. The next day, I bought and downloaded an album from the iTunes store (we'll call it album #1). I wanted to transfer it to comp #2, so I put the songs on my flash drive, hooked it up to comp #2, and put them in comp #2's iTunes library. I played the songs and everything went perfectly. I had absolutely no problems. Now, just yesterday, I bought another album from the iTunes store on comp #1 (we'll call that album #2), put the songs on my flash drive, put them on comp #2, and now, when I try to play the album #2 songs on comp #2, a message pops up saying that my computer isn't authorized to play songs purchased from the iTunes store, and I must authorize it by entering my iTunes username and password.

Now, obviously I can't authorize comp #2 because it doesn't have internet access. However, the songs from album #1 still work fine. What am I doing wrong and how do I get album #2's songs to play???

How can I get iTunes to search my whole computer for music files?

*Quote*
Yes, iTunes can search your computer for music, either within a specific folder or acrsos the entire hard drive (although if you have multiple hard drives, you would probably have to do one at a time). iTunes normally asks you if you want to do this the first time you run it after installing it, but if you didn't do it then, you can still do it by using File->Add Folder and just specifying the root of your hard disk.

When searching for music, iTunes will simply import any MP3 or AAC files that it finds. WMA files that it finds will be converted, if possible, to the default import format (which you can set under Edit->Preferences->Advanced->Importing).

You weren't specific as to the error message that you received, but the likely cause of iTunes having a problem converting a WMA file is if that file is protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM), which is generally as a result of having been purchased from an online music service such as Napster or MusicMatch. DRM-protected files cannot be converted by any software, so this isn't really specifically a result of iTunes.

If you have a large library of DRM-protected WMA files, the most you might be able to do is to burn them to CD and then reimport them into iTunes in the same way that you would for a purchased CD.

Note, however, that not all purchased WMA files include a license that allows for burning to CD. For instance, music purchased through Napster-to-Go's subscription service would fall into this category.

How did someone else's iTunes Library appear on MY computer?

It's because of the network connection.
The person who's internet you're using also has iTunes and has turned on sharing.

When you connect to their wireless internet, it connects your computer to the router they have so you are on the network. If a computer is on, has iTunes running, has sharing turned on, and is connected to the network, other people will be able to use iTunes to see the other computer's library.

They can't see what you're doing on your computer unless you deliberately install software to let them do it.

If they try and find out if someone else is connected to their network, they will be able to find out, but unless they know a lot about computers you're probably safe.

To make sure the other person can't see your iTunes library, go to Edit - Preferences, click the Sharing tab, and untick "Share my library on my local network".
You can also untick "Look for shared libraries" to hide their library. :)

How do i transfer my itunes library onto another computer?

There are two ways of doing this:

1. Manually - you would need to copy the whole iTunes folder tree (along with the iTunes Media folder - where your actual tracks are found) and paste it to your new computer
a. you would need to do some editing for the .xml iTunes file too

2. Automatically - by using a separate program to backup and then restore your iTunes library contents to the new computer. Here is a guide of how to do that:

Thanks for the A2A.You can access as many iTunes accounts as you would like on one computer, as long as you know the Apple ID and password associated with each account. Here’s how:Launch iTunesSelect “Sign Out” from the Store menu.Select “Sign In” from the Store menu.Enter the credentials for the account you want to access. If you are asking can you access two (or more) iTunes accounts simultaneously on one computer, then the answer is no, you can not. What will happen if I "transfer purchases" on my ipod?

Normally I use my own computer for itunes stuff, but now it won't connect to the store so I want to use my mom's computer to do it (her computer has itunes as well). When I plug in my ipod, a notice comes up that says I can either erase and sync or transfer purchases. I know for sure I definitely do not want to erase and sync, but I'm not clear on what transfer purchases means. So, if I transfer purchases, what will happen?

Is there a way to Bypass iTunes and burn an MP3 CD with my purchased music?

When I try to burn a CD with iTunes music I bought it says "iTunes store files cannot be burned to an MP3 CD"

I know you can't burn them if you purchased them (so iTunes says)
but is there a way to get around that and put those songs on a CD?

I want to unlock the songs or convert them somehow, not pay the extra price....

When I tried to burn them on my media player it says it doesn't recognize the file type....

thanks
