How To Network My New Time-saving Trick

How can i network 2 virtualbox OS with the host OS?

I'll first suggest that you consider an existing Linux-based firewall / router package, like "Smoothwall Express", or "pfSense", instead of trying to roll your own from Debian. You'll save yourself a lot of time. (For your application, I think that "pfSense" has the capabilities you need.)

Strictly speaking, with only one physical NIC on the host machine, you don't have a good security architecture. But we'll pass on that for the moment.

Simple, but resource-heavy: run two pfSense firewall / router virtual machines, as well as your Windows 7 VM. Two internal networks, one for the Internet-facing firewall, and one for the server-facing firewall (DMZ). Use routing rules on the DMZ firewall to pass traffic to the (external) server only (drop all other traffic).

More complicated (but less resource-heavy) would be to add another NIC to a single pfSense VM, and put all the routing rules inside just the one firewall / router.

Interesting project. It reminds me a little of the VM "honeypot" I built behind a VM pfSense firewall. In my case, I wanted to ensure that the honeypot could not see or access any other machines on my LAN; just the Internet.

I'll check back if you want to chat some more.

What are a few computer tricks which will help me save lots of time?

Here are my favorite Windows shortcuts for office work (don't all translate into Mac, unfortunately.)Word and Google Docs:When writing long documents (or even taking great class or meeting notes), use header stylings for better visual cues and easy table of content creation. Ctrl+Alt+1 = H1, Ctrl+Alt+2 = H2, etc. Makes the entire line you're typing on into a Header formatted line.Instantly makes section headings, subject headings, etc. pop off the page, and when you're done, you can make an instant Table of Contents using the "references" tab on the ribbon. It's a good habit to get into, because it translates well to creating web content too. You can tweak your headers' formatting using the "Styles" menu under Home, and make custom stylings that give your content your own feel and brand.Excel and Google Sheets:Alt+Enter in Excel, and also in Google Sheets, makes a new line (soft return) within the cell you're currently typing in; really comes in handy if you're entering a bunch of interviews or similar into an Excel spreadsheet.F2 is also a godsend in Excel - gets you into "edit mode" in the currently selected cell (works like a double-click), so that you don't accidentally overwrite the cell's contents when you're trying to make a small tweak.General:Windows Key+[arrow key] moves your current window around the screen, and is a great way to multitask. Left and right bring the current window to take up one half of the screen (left or right side,) at full height. Windows+Up arrow maximizes the window, filling the whole screen. These are specially useful if you're using multiple screens, as this lets you move windows back and forth without having to fiddle with dragging things to just the right spot, and makes it really easy to split a screen equally.

What are the tricks to save memory usage when training large network?

Make them small. There is no need for more than 2 inputs 1 output to train a network able to do additions. Try to make minimal networks.Use less precise data types.Neural network are fuzzy and in general you don't care about thousandths anyway. Floats instead of doubles will do the work, but use half of the memory.Smaller but meaningful training samples. The resulting network is as good as the training set. Clean the training set from noise and use small sample sizes. It is better to train multiple specific networks than a big generalist one.

Is there any way to hack a WiFi network and know its password?

You have 2 options:the first one: If the password is WEP , then get enough packets with airodump-ng , then crack it with aircrack-ng // if it’s a WPA/WPA2 , then I’m afraid you have to “Guess” the password by brute forcing it. it works either with a dictionary file, or by guessing. you will need aircrack-ng and jtr (john the ripper) together in this case.the second option: if WPS is enabled, use reaver to crack the pin.one more additional option: Evil twins! disable their wifi with mdk3 , then once they connect to your fake wifi (ESSID) , they “might” enter the password and you’d get it . In this case, a fake login should appear asking to confirm the password (like phishing)

If a computer says "a network cable is unplugged," but all cables are plugged in correctly, how do you fix it?

make sure ur modem is on if so make sure all the lights are green, if so, and it still dont work, then try unplugging all the cables and turnig the comp and the modem off. wait 10-20 seconds.... if still it doesnt work you may need to reset the modem, if you have the black one then there will be a little hole on the bottom, if you dont see it then the white sticker is still over it that says reset, remove that, if you have the beige looking and grey one then it is on the back, where hte cables plugin between the usb port and the the last ethernet port it has a thin red circle around it, after locating the hole get a paper clip and stick one end of it inside the hole the modem should then turn off then back on resting its self, if this doesnt work let me know most of the time that will do the trick if not msg me and we can go deeper into the problem

Can you save money by turning off your water heater during the day?

If your water heater is rather new, which means well insulated, then probably not. If older, an inexpensive water heater blanket would probably be much easier.

But, while I have turned it off for long vacations, I haven't done it for short periods of time.

A drawback is how long it will take for the heater to get the water back to the temperature you want for a shower or washing dishes.

You would probably save more money by having the water temperature set lower then the default setting. Typically 120 is sufficient. Over 125, and you can risk scalding a child.

US Department of Energy suggestion is to turn it off if you are going to be gone for more then three days. During the day is probably not a question that was asked.

Turning the thermostat down during the times you are away, and overnight will definitely save you money. However, if you have a heat pump, then using a special set back thermostat for your system is the only way to go. Otherwise, if the temperature drops more then two degrees, and you ramp it up, you use the backup heating elements, and not the heat pump feature. Heat pump thermostats temper the heat rise in <2 degree increments, to not trip the back up heat. So it may take longer, but it is more energy efficient.

So with heat pump thermostats, if you want the regular temperature at 5 PM, it may start to ramp up the temperature in small increments at 3 PM, so it is at the temperature you desire at 5 PM.
