I have to run for now. Gee, I hope this helps. Best to you.

How can I stop being so shy in high school?

Being shy is completely normal. Most of the kids at your school are probably scared of what people will think of them. Some just hide it better than others. Being shy to the point where you are not participating is a shame, because you will miss out on so much and it probably feels a little lonely. Think of the benefits gained by trying and how much more fun school will be once you learn to speak to some of your classmates.I recommend starting out small, choose one person, in one of your classes, that you think looks nice and approachable. Just start saying hello to them in the mornings when school starts. Preferably when they are not speaking with someone else. Stick with this practice with the same person, and then maybe you can add, to the conversation, with something along the lines of, did you finish your assignment? or whatever comes to mind. After gaining that one friend you will see more start to follow suit.Confidence is gained by putting yourself in positions that are out of your comfort zone and realizing, hey that wasn’t so bad. It you don’t feel uncomfortable you are not growing. When we want to change something about ourselves it is best to practice. When I was in school I would try to sit next to someone who I wanted to get to know, that way you can “borrow a pencil” or ask them if they understood the assignment or just simply say hello and see where the conversation takes you.I would also recommend joining an activity, band, drama, the school news paper, a sport, those types of activities are usually done in groups and you can get to know kids easier in small groups like that.Good luck and keep us posted :)

What do you do about nieghbor kids who are constantly stalkingyour house & your kids?

call the local police and explain what's happening so they can talk to the parents and arrest for "assault" because what they are doing is physical harm and that's against the law. You make sure that you have a witness of them beating up your kids or the kid showing his/her bruise.

If that doesn't work, I suggest moving out of that neighborhood , it doesn't even have to be in another town. And before moving into a new home look at the neighborhood and ask people living on the neighborhood about it. It doesn't matter if you're shy (if you are) you have to look around and if the people you ask are rude than you already know you aren't going to get well with them. (And don't ask the person selling the house, it's more than likely that they'll lie to you about bad stuff in that goes in that neighborhood if there is because they just want to sell you the house)

ADDITIONAL INFO: I understand your scared of the police for whatever reason but you have to try. Know that if they don't help or bother that it just adds more to the reason to MOVE. You're fighting to keep a beautiful house but you can't stop your family from getting harassed. I know it saddens you to be harassed by people you were nice to and the fact you guys can't get along because of racial differences and I think your doing a pretty good to help your family get around them and still enjoy yourselves but is it worth living there? A beautiful home yet a bad city?

You need to get help to stop them and if that doesn't help just move, there's plenty of other beautiful homes with nicer neighbors. If you don't those people's taunts will eventually get to you and start causing problems in your family out of stress.

What do people think of shy kids at school?

Perception of a shy kid can range anything from docil to anti-social, peaceful, and many other things that you can probably imagine. More important however, is how that shy kid thinks of themselves. A high self esteem, is not just good, its essential in shaping a persons view of themselves because it helps them shape their view of the world. Confidence comes from having a realistic view of oneself and the outside world. That confidence helps a child obtain and maintain what is referred to the 3 I's and a (P). Individuality, independence, integration, and productivity. These are the building blocks for self actualization and success.

What do high school teachers think of students that are quiet/shy, never talks in class?

what you have to realize is that highschool teachers are older and they dont think like highschool kids. They may see kids as shy, nerdy, a jock, a jerk. ect... but they don't judge nearly as much. They are there to see you get an education. I am sure they would like to see you speak up, but that is because in life it is not good to be shy/quiet. Reserved is a different story, just because you don't jab your mouth all of the time doesn't put you into the quiet category, it is when you barely ever talk that does. In life you will need communication skills for many jobs, classes in the future and even with friends it is very good, but it is not a necessity. I would recommend taking a speech class, it is fun and helps your nerves go away. Also, get good grades in their class and I'm sure they'll be happy. Teachers look for what is best for their students, when you are in highschool you many not think of it like that- i understand, i didn't either, but looking back i know that they do! hope that helps!

I hate presenting in front of people?

I understand how you feel. I also have that problem; mostly with people my age. Talking in front of a classroom of kids does not bother me when I am the teacher. But I get tongue-tied when I have to speak to the parents. LOL I was always a very quiet child in school who hardly ever talked. Then when I entered the University to get a teaching degree I really had to work hard to stand in front of the class. I would literally be a complete nervous wreck and hated it. What I did was focus on the topic of my project and do my best to get through it. I discovered if I volunteered to be first to get it over with quickly I did much better because then I didn't have the other students projects to compare mine too and that seemed to help me a lot and the fact I got it over and done with helped me to relax while the others were doing theirs.
