How To Notify Police That You Will Be Filming A Movie With A Gun

Do I have to notify the police when filming a movie with air soft guns?

You bet your ass you do. It is called self preservation. If you are filming, especially at an exterior location, some citizen in the street can see the weapons, not realize they are replicas and notify the police. When the police arrive (and they will, very quickly) all you can do is immediately freeze and lay the piece on the ground. Then take the stern lecture (or the arrest) about using these non weapons. When it comes to what LOOKS to be a firearm, the police do not and should not have any sense of humor. If you made a sudden move, it could all get that much more dire. The easiest thing to do is contact the local police department and let them tell you the direction they want you to take.

Why are more and more TV shows and movies using fake gun flashes and sparks?

Most actors have never fired a live round and cannot reenact the recoil they've never feltTo use an automatic weapon one must use full loads ~ full gunpowder~  just as a real round but tappered. As expected real gases are propelled through the barrel which can kill, blind or main if close enough to skin or eyesSince the weapon is firing hot gas~  and god forbid any particles left inside the barrel thus making it a projectile ~ there is a tendency to aim the weapon down beneath the intended target for safety All crew members~  especially the sound mixer ~ must be alerted to the firing of any weapon Ear plugs must be issued to prevent Wotkman Comp iasues laterThe weapons and blanks are stored separately and are brought to the set together as a Special. Effects crewman watches it ~ this might cause a EFX man to be bought in especially for weapons handling Since machine guns are Class III Federal Firearms Licence as federally and state approved license holder must be with the weapons. In California where most of the filming takes place machine gun permits are rare as they come.  A studio fire department may chime in if the scene contains enough fire power and certain to bypass  the fire system to prevent ots activation due to the powder ignition.  This entails alerting the local fire department to disregard any activations and the insurance company Since machine guns and weapons tend to be stolen on the street if left unguarded an off or on duty cop is hired. If the weapon malfunctions a second one (weapons don't cost that much to rent as compared to filming ) or third is brought out.Measure that against a plastic gun with CGI

How to notify police that you will be filming a movie with a gun?

first you need to make sure that it is a airsoft gun or some other type of replica that can in no way be fired safety is number one, second is you need to notify all surrounding businesses that you are filming, call the city hall and make sure everything is in order and then call the police non emergency hotline not 911 and ask or head to the police station and ask in person. freddie wong put some video up on how to actually go about this but i believe his main point was make sure you have permission to film on the premises

Can you report road rage to the police?

The DMV: Road rage is defined as aggressive or violent behavior stemming from a driver's uncontrolled anger at the actions of another motorist. You can report anything you want to the police, the question is what can they do about it and should you waste their time and your time reporting road rage. If you are in the lane next to a guy who is bright red and screaming and pounding his fists on his steering wheel, or has his arm as far out his window as he can get it flipping you or someone else off, you probably should just keep driving and try to get out of his way. The police can’t do anything about a person having a melt down while he’s stopped in bumper to bumper traffic. They won’t bother looking for someone who is screaming the f word at you via sign language either. Even though those things are aggressive behaviors, the person still isn’t a danger to others. You should call the highway patrol or police department if the person begins driving erratically and aggressively. If he is speeding through slow traffic doing sudden lane changes, not using his signal, tailgating people or you, cuts you off and stops short, basically seeming to be using his vehicle as a weapon, definitely call for help, report him. Of course if he points a gun or brandishes a knife or makes any kind of threat on your life , note the license plate and call for help.If you listen to the police scanner on your cell phone, listen to the highway patrol in your state or any state, you won’t have to wait long at all to hear the dispatcher tell the officers that a motorist has called in and reported another motorist for doing something illegal. I think that is how the highway patrol is getting a lot of its business since everyone has a phone in reach now. For that reason we should all think twice before we decide to break the laws on the roads, there are snitches everywhere who will call and report what you’re doing and make it a lot easier for the police to catch up and find you.

If you’re on your private property holding a gun and the police show up and tell you to put it down, do you have to?

The short answer to this question is no, you don’t ever have to do anything the Police tell you. It is up to you to decide whether or not you should comply. The law says you have to, but Police don’t follow the laws, and pointing a gun at you is most definitely breaking a law. Without equal protection of the law, the experiment of a Republic ruled by law is over, and there is only tyranny[1]. Police and Police apologists would have you believe that you have to do anything they say. There are no gray areas to them, because Police officers can’t be bad people… right? There are no Police officers that are murderers[2], thieves[3], or rapists[4], terrorists[5], child molesters[6], slave traders[7], liars[8], or wife beaters[9]. So again, if an officer is using his state issued costume to commit a crime against you or a loved one, you should absolutely not drop the firearm, and then not hesitate to use it against the cop[10] knowing that if you live, you’ll spend the next 5 years or more of your life in and out of jails and courts, but knowing you took a monster or monsters out of the world, and fewer people will be harmed because of it.Footnotes[1] John Locke on the idea that “wherever law ends, tyranny begins” (1689)[2] Category:American police officers convicted of murder - Wikipedia[3] 7 Baltimore police officers indicted on federal racketeering charges[4] OKC cop Daniel Holtzclaw sentenced to 263 years[5] Jon Burge - Wikipedia[6] Former Minneapolis cop gets longer sentence for assaulting g...[7] Prosecutor to charge 7 Oakland cops in sex scandal involving teen prostitute[8] https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/doc...[9] National Center For Women and Policing[10] Man accused of shooting CCPD officers found not guilty

I am planning a film where a character uses a gun. My best choice for a prop would be an airsoft, but the orange tip kind of ruins the scene. What would be the best approach?

Airsoft guns fire pellets, which can cause injury so are also not perfect props. Your propmaster (even if you are amateur, have someone be the propmaster to keep track of this stuff, make it all suitable for on-screen use, and safe) needs to either block the barrel to make sure it is safe, or get a non-firing prop gun.Any non-real-gun is going to possibly look wrong, so if it matters (if it will be clearly visible, focused on even for a moment) get a good replica, have it modified (again, by your knowledgable propmaster), etc. Screws and seams and improper shapes stick out like a sore thumb to those who are familiar with firearms. They will notice. For airsoft, the orange tip is generally removable, or can be sanded off and painted over. This is ill-advised or actually illegal in some locales, BUT there is generally an exception for theatrical productions. You are allowed to make you fake guns look real because it will be seen by people who want to keep suspending their disbelief.BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you are asking here on Quora, then again I worry this is amateur, and therefore maybe guerrilla and you’ll be on the streets without a permit, without blocking off the area, without security, and then you will be waving a realistic gun around and then:Police take shot at actor on movie set - CNN VideoEven the orange tip won’t save you if you are on the streets pretending to be waving a gun around. Do not do this.

Laws for Blank Firing Guns in Washington?

You are permitted to own a blank firing weapon but be safety conscious and as you said notify the police if you are going to be firing it in a public area.

BLANK GUNS ARE NOT TOYS! Never ever point your blank gun at another person (except for movies, plays etc where that type of behavior is expected). Even though they don't shoot a projectile they can be mistaken for the real thing.

Do not carry your blank gun in public. It should NEVER be carried on the street, hidden on your person, or left carelessly in your car. Do not leave it where it is accessible to unsupervised children or irresponsible adults. If a police officer sees you with one he will shoot first ask questions later. These blank guns look and sound real.

Wear ear protection when firing blank guns. The 8mm round is very loud and can damage hearing. When using a blank-firing, stage prop pistol, always fire them with arm fully extended and at a safe distance from any other person. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. NEVER point any blank-firing or stage prop pistol at any person.

Need an answer fast! (Threatening with a fake gun)?

A group of girls has threatened to jump a friend of mine and because I am pretty skilled in self defense, she asked that I escort her home. Which I am going to do. But this group of girls who are threatening her all have boyfriends who are just as likely to beat the crap out of me while the girls attack my friend.

I have notified the police but we live in a town with a lot of people but a small police department and they can't send a sheriff out based on speculation. They said to call them if we were being followed.

My concern is that they don't really give us the time to call the cops before they run up and jump us.
So here is my question. Would it be illegal for me to carry a FAKE gun and point it at them if I noticed them about to jump us.
I graduated. So I can't protect her during the school day. But I am going to be waiting outside the school for her when she is released for the day.
So it's not like I'm bringing a fake weapon into the school.

But yea.... In self defense, is it going to be illegal for me to point a fake gun at them?
Or should I just let four guys beat me up while five girls rip my friend to pieces?
