How To Pack Medicine For Air Travel

Medicine on airplane? ?

Your Advil is fine.

OTC medications for medical purposes is allowed even if it is over 3.4 oz. However, Nyquil may be a sticky area. When you do bring liquid medicines over the 3.4 ounces, you simply need to put it in the bin and declare it at Security.

Delta Airlines- how does medicine work? Carry on/check luggage?

The airline does not make the rules, the TSA people do.

ALL prescription and over the counter medication is allowed in both checked and carry on bags. The TSA people <> care if it is labeled or not. They also <> care if the bottle or package is opened or sealed. The pills, capsules, tablets/whatever, can all simply be left in your carry on bag. They do not need to be taken out for inspection. If you have liquid medication that you need to have with you, then read the links below.

NEVER put important medication in checked luggage. If your luggage ends up in the wrong city, then you could be in serious trouble without the medication.

If the immodium is liquid, AND it is more than 3.4 ounces (100 ml), then you might consider putting it into your checked baggage. If it is less than that, then you can bring it with you easily. Follow these rules about liquids:

If it is in tablet form, then it will be fine in your carry on bag.

For any other liquid medications that you cannot be without, see the information here:

The answer is yes.You can carry homeopathic medicines with you not only to US but to almost every country in the world except Soudi Arabia as it bans alcohol in any form.Coming back to the question. If you are required to carry homeopathic medicines with you make sure you have a doctors prescription ( I issue a printed one ) detailing the name of the medicines quantity given and also certifying that the medicines are for self use only. You will have to show the prescription if enquired at the custom. To avoid unnecessary harassment avoid taking homeopathic medicines in your hand bag. It is safer to take them in the luggage. To the people out there comenting with myopic vision let me also put down a note for you readers if you are unable to carry the medicines with you for what ever reason dont worry a bit. Most of the pharmacy in the US stock homeopathic medicines. You can buy them there. If you want medicines parcelled/couriered to you that is also easily done by many of the leading courier companies.Hope this answers your question. Have you traveled with refrigerated, liquid medications, in a carry-on bag, on a plane, before?

Medications are exempted from the bag and 3 oz. rule that applies to other liquids. Simply show them when you pass through security. Here's the page from the TSA website.

"There is no restriction on the amount of baby formula, breast milk, or medicines you can bring, but they must be declared and presented for inspection at the checkpoint."

A good tip I read was to use frozen grapes. They're a snack, right? The fact that they are in bags around your medication...

Bring the ice pack. If you're not allowed to have it, they'll simply take it away. Declare it with the medication and make it clear that it is to be kept cool.

Try to bring an unopened bottle of serum if possible. If you can get a note from your doctor, that is not necessary but you may find it helpful.

The F/A's can keep it cold on the flight itself. I know because I did that when I was one. Please put it in a bag with your seat number on it. I would put whatever it was, but it was usually medications, on ice in the galley. I returned the bag to the passenger on landing. The ice is in bags so neither get dirty.

Good luck!

Can you bring Acne Medication on a plane?

I went to the TSA.Gov website and it said

You may carry liquids, gels and aerosols in your carry-on bags only if they adhere to the 3-1-1 rule: containers must be 3.4 ounces or less; stored in a 1 quart/liter zip-top bag; 1 zip-top bag per person, placed in the screening bin. Larger amounts of non-medicinal liquids, gels, and aerosols must be placed in checked baggage.

Medically required liquids, such as baby formula, breast milk and medications are allowed in excess of 3.4 ounces in reasonable quantities for the flight. It is not necessary to place medically required liquids in a zip-top bag. However, you must tell the Transportation Security Officer that you have medically necessary liquids at the beginning of the screening checkpoint process. Medically required liquids will be subjected to additional screening. We recommend, but do not require, that medication be labeled to facilitate the security process. Many airports have designated lanes for families and individuals with items requiring additional assistance with screening.

You may purchase beverages after the security checkpoint and take them on the plane, as they have been previously screened. You may also take empty drink containers through the checkpoint and fill them afterward

I hope this helps! :)

What are the rules for carrying prescription medicines while boarding international flights from India?

I have carried my medicines with me on almost all of my trips abroad. Different countries have different rules regarding bringing in medicines. For example, there was no checking and no questions asked when I entered Thailand and Hong Kong. However, there was thorough checking when I entered Australia. In the USA they say they are strict but I was not checked any of the times I entered. Irrespective of what the rules are, a few simple tips can help you have a hassle free trip.1. A couple of strips or bottles should be fine, but even with a prescription, you are asking for trouble if you try to take in like 50 or 60 + strips or bottles. 2. Make sure all your medicines are branded and sealed ones. Local homeo or ayurvedic ones that you got from a country Doc will be sent for testing if caught. 3. ALWAYS carry your prescription with you. Before your trip, remember to scan and email a copy to yourself.4. Be honest on the disembarkment form. Do not lie and say you are not carrying anything. If found lying, the fines can be heafty. 5. Before each trip, do some research about the rules of the country you are traveling to. As I said, each country has a different rule. 6. Make sure the names and labels of the medicines are clearly visible. Do not try to hide anything.Follow these few simple tips and you should be fine. PS: worst case scenario, always get the local name of the medicine you are carrying, that it is known by in the country you are traveling so. So in case your medicines are not allowed in or has been confiscated, you can get it locally, after getting a  prescription, of course.

Can medicines be taken on Indian domestic flights?

Easily. For domestic flights in India you are not required to carry the prescription. (but it is a good idea to take a prescription along just in case you lose the medicine!)But please take them in carry on. Do not check them in. If the medicine is liquid you may need to make sure it is within the 100ml limit otherwise you may be forced to check it in.Legally , in India , carrying of prescription medicines for self use is not regulated. The police have no power to seize medicines unless the quantity vastly exceeds reasonable use. (diversion to black market)
