Yes, as long as the card itself is activated. You will not be able to withdraw money out of an ATM without activating a PIN. However, if you got a PIN with your card, then you probably don't actually need to activate it.

It shouldn't...if it does affect your score it will be minimal.....most credit cards have a minimum finance chrage when you don't pay the balance in full so if you canceled over that.....good luck finding a card that doesn't have that stipulation.....there is no finance charge if you pay the balance in full by the due date.... EDIT: I've had a Kohl's card since 2002 and I've gone YEARS without charging on it and have never had to pay any fees. You may want to check the terms again.

If the gift card is truly not activated, like someone swiped it off the rack at the store and snuck it out without taking it through the cashier process… it's almost certainly just a dumb, worthless piece of plastic. The activation process conducted by the cashier is what creates the corresponding entries in the database at the payment processor, linking that card number with a stored value amount. Usually the gift card packaging is clearly labeled, “No value until activated by cashier,” so you don't waste your time and effort.I suppose you could take this “stolen” gift card and sneak it back into the store, and hand it to a cashier with some cash or your own credit card, to have it activated properly… but that hardly seems worth the risk over just grabbing a fresh one legitimately. Keeps a tiny bit of excess plastic and cardboard out of the landfill, I suppose.

My paypal account is like yours, no credit card attached but I've linked my bank account to it and have already purchased stuff with it on ebay. Some sellers do prefer credit card backup on your paypal. I know this because the itunes store won't let me create an account or buy music unless I have a paypal account with credit card. Yes, itunes do have the paypal payment method option but they need credit card backup. So it's up to the seller. Some are satisfied with only a bank account attached, but still others need you credit card as well. PLEASE BE ADVICED: If your bank account is linked to your paypal and is set as your primary source of payment, you should be careful and not overspend which will result in bank charges for NSF. Believe it or not, some banks do knowingly let you spend more than you have and then charge you for insufficient fund. Hope this helps...
