How do i play a movie made on iMovie (mac program) on a dell (using windows media player)?
I am making a movie for school on my macbook using iMovie, but I will have to use the school's computer when I present it tomorrow, (or projector, either one) which is a Dell and only has Windows Media Player (and not quicktime.) If I save the movie on a cd will i be able to open it on WMP? I heard it wont work. Another possibility is that I can bring my laptop to school...would there be a way to connect the laptop to the PC or projector and just play it that way? Would I use a USB cable to do so? Any info would be great. thanks

I agree that iMovie is like 1000x better than Windows Movie Maker, but no. Unfortuately, Apple doesn't support the iMovie application on a PC. How do I get a VLC video onto iMovie?
It depends on the format. VLC can read almost every format known to man. If you're not sure, you can just convert the video into MP4. First, create a file on your Desktop called "Movie.mp4" Now go to File > Open... on VLC. Use the Browse button to select your file. Now, at the bottom, check the Stream/Save Output box and click on Settings... Check the File box and click Browse... and find the file you made at the beginning of this paragraph. Under Encapsulation Method, select MP4. Check the Video codec and Audio codec checkboxes and select h264 and mp4a in the respective drop-down menus. Click OK, then the other OK. VLC will start playing, but will not display the movie. This is good, this means VLC is transcoding the video. Once it's done, open "Movie.mp4" to check if the transcoding worked. EDIT: It should transcode both the audio and video, just not while it is initially playing in VLC. Give it a shot. EDIT2: An MP4 file is a video file that iMovie and QuickTime support. An MP3, on the other hand, is an audio file.

I did a project for school on imovie too. Ok so what I did was export the movie once i was done editing it and then instead of using a CD i used a USB stick. You know the storage ones that have like 2gb and up. So once the video was exported i dragged and dropped the video inside the USB stick folder. The next day my teacher put it in the computer (which is a PC) and it worked just fine.
