How To Quit My Part Time Job

How to quit my part time job?

You want a new job but you don't have a new job, so the best rule of thumb (unless you're prepared to be without an income for a while) is "never quit a job until you have another lined up." Most new employers are understanding if you need a couple week's notice before you can start; after all they would want the same consideration shown to them. Keep looking and applying to places; when you get a job offer then that would be the time to discuss it with whomever is in charge of HR, to give them your notice.
You never know just how hard it is to find a new job until you get out there and look. Don't assume that if you quit your job, you'll automatically find another one within a few weeks. Sometimes you get lucky, other times it could take much longer. Depends on what type of job you see; some employers are pickier than others.

How do I quit my part-time job?

Hello there! If this job is affecting your school work, then you definitely need to consider quitting it! Trust me, it's not worth it! I have been working since I was 15. A teacher once told me that once you start working, you will never stop until you retire! I am almost 24 now, and since I was 15 I have been through like 20 jobs and still have nothing to show for it. I graduated from high school 6 years ago, and have focused so much on maintaining high paying full time jobs, that I have not even attained my Associate's Degree, which should not have taken me more than 2 years to get! I have been unhappy in every job I've gotten. None have been satisfying. So do yourself the favor, and QUIT while you still can! I am sure you still live with your family and they will help you while you strive for a better future!

As for how to quit: just be up front with your boss. Explain to him/her that you appreciate them giving you the opportunity to work with them, but that you've noticed that you have not been able to dedicate the necessary time to your school work. They will definitely appreciate your honesty. You really don't NEED to give them a 2 weeks notice, but if you feel too bad about just quitting, provide them with at least one week to allow them to fill your position. Cashier positions usually don't take too long to be filled. If you don't leave the notice, I suggest that you don't list them as a reference for later jobs. It is better to just start new and say that you don't have any work experience because you were focusing on school than to have a previous employer give your current recruiter a bad impression of you!

Good luck and hope this helps!!! =0)

Should I quit my part-time job?

I need serious answers only, and someone to read the entire post before commenting.

I am currently a 20 year old sophomore in college studying marketing, management and communications. Yes, I'm a very busy girl. I have been also been working for a major grocery store chain (I will refrain from giving the corporation name, for privacy reasons), but let's just say that this store has a reputation of treating employees badly. I have been working for this store since my senior year of high school, starting out as a cashier and working my way to a sales floor position for a little higher pay. This past summer I worked A LOT, doing basically whatever management asked me to do. I worked overnights when needed, worked in areas where I wasn't getting paid at the right pay rate, but I still did it because the pay was still awesome. Once school started, I cut my availability down quite a lot, for school. I told management I couldn't work more than 20 hours a week (I go to school 20 hours a week, I also needed time to study). Management disregarded and kept scheduling me 35+ hours. After asking again, and them telling me they would fix it, they didn't. This prompted me to go to the BIG boss, and still nothing was resolved. I'm not sure what I should do, honestly. Any suggestions? I do need a job, because I pay rent and bills. I just don't know how to go about this.

Should I quit my full-time job and take up part-time job so I can have more time to myself? I am 25 years old.

There is no harm in taking a break off to pamper yourself and slow down your pace. Everyone has the right to relax every now and then. But I have a suggestion. Instead of quitting, why not take a sabbatical of a few months, rekindle your senses and then get back to the same job? In case things don’t look great still, you can always quit and start looking out for newer avenues.Talk to your HR about the company’s sabbatical policies and then think about what I just said.

I want to quit my part time job. Advice?

I'm 16 years old and got my first job in November. And I hate it. The managers are nasty. Like just flat out mean to me, and everyone else. The hours are annoying, and sometimes boderline illegal for a minor. On school nights im sometimes not getting home till midnite, only to have to be up for school at 6 AM. They give me like seven hour shifts without a break. Saturday mornings at 8AM (that parts not illegal just annoying lol).
The work is annoying. Just running a cash register is no issue, but making sandwiches, making lattes, cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, dumpster duty, etc is a little bit more than I thought I was signing up for. It's been like three months and I'm still nervous every time I go there. I feel like queasy or something. Im scared to ask my managers anyting, because like I said, they aren't very pleasant.
When I first got hired, I gave them my availability. They've completely disregarded that. They never let you clock out when you're scheduled to. Like, I'll be schedule to leave at 3:30 and be lucky to get out at 5. And also a lot of old people come into the place I work at, and they can be nasty let me tell you.
So basically, I'm just asking if it's reasonable to want to leave. I'm trying to find another job, but even if I do, I'm like terrified to quit. Advice??

Should I quit my part-time job and focus on school?

I have been working at a fancy restaurant now for 2 years, and I just started college a few months ago. I thought it would be easy to juggle going to school full-time, while attending work part-time. It worked out well because my job starts at 4:30/5:00 on evenings which worked out great for my school time. I am taking only 12 credits this term, 3 classes, and it seems to be going just fine. Although, work does conflict with my homework time and such. At my job, I am a host and I currently make minimum wage so you can easily see why I cannot see myself here much longer. The work is not hard, but it is exhausting having to work with such rude managers and staff where I don't feel appreciated by anything. All my hard work goes unnoticed and I know it won't be another 8 months before I can move into serving.
Next quarter I will be taking 16 credits, 4 classes which are everyday. This will also be a lot harder than this quarter's since I will be taking College English and Math. I want to give myself enough time to really understand the material this quarter since I am doing a lot. I have saved up enough money to pay for my college tuition until the end of next year, although I will probably find another job after Spring Quarter. It is a difficult option for me as I do love to keep myself busy, but I want to have a well balanced life as well.
PS. I am getting my associates in Business Administration so I need to gain experience in an office, yet all are full time.

My parents won't let me quit my part time job?

I work for a big supermarket company - I only work a 7 hour shift on a Sunday but I really want to quit. I would love to work elsewhere, for a smaller retailer or something. I have no friends at work, they make me go to a meeting for being off sick, the staff are annoying af, they get mad at me when I do something wrong (when they didn't even train me), I can't make conversation with the customers. The list would go on, but basically RETAIL.

I'm 18, I get paid £10 an hour - I know it's good pay but it doesn't feel worth it - I'd much rather work somewhere I like for less given the opportunity.

I also shouldn't really be working after Christmas due to college work.

I would have quit by now if my parents didn't have to be so rude about it. I dread going to work the following week the second I get home from work, I tell them how much I hate it, I tell them it makes me want to die and they say they won't give me spends if I quit - so I'd have no money even though college have told me to quit my job. So now I'm stuck because I'd get no money by not working, before I worked I got £15 a week from my parents, then they stopped when I got a job.

I don't know what to do because my education is much more important and all my mum does is threaten me. My dad isn't the problem, all my mum does is be a housewife, smoke, drink, favourite my big sister. My earns too much money, so money isn't an issue for him - my mum is just telling him to say no even though it isn't her money.
