How To Quote A Quote Of Somebody Else

"If you don't run your own life, somebody else will"?

Its true, coz if you aren't on control of your own destiny then other people can do things which will impact on you and as you aren't in control you cant stop them.
Also, if you seem vulnerable people will be able to manipulate you more easily and i think this quote implies this.
EDIT: @Milton You said :'You are always in the position to run your life no matter what because you are in control' and this is true but this statement refers to someone who has foresaken the chance to run their own life and has literally become a passive observer on their own destiny. I agree with everything else you said though =)

How do I quote author is quoting someone else?

In your paper you would write Mary Jane quoted Shakespeare in her book "......"

How do I cite a quote which my source is quoting from someone else?

Alas, your good question is one that establishes the need for sources to accompany an answer that is "technical". I should hasten to add that the conventions of the various style guides, including MLA, may seem arcane and bothersome; however, we are expected to follow those conventions.

1. IN-TEXT CITATION: You are citing an indirect source. An indirect source is, for example, the use as the source of a quotation an article by an author other than the author of the quotation. For such indirect quotations, in your in-text parenthetical citation use "qtd. in" (i.e., abbreviation for "quoted in") to indicate the source you actually consulted. What you are doing is using a secondary source for a quotation (i.e., someone quoted within the text of another author).

You should mention in your text that Joe Smoe said (or some introductory text with which you are comfortable that establishes the original author) "whatever he said"; then, before the closing period, you should place in parentheses (qtd. in Smith 32). 32 is a page number I made up. It is the page in Smith's article on which Joe Smoe is quoted.

For example:

As Joe Smoe reminds us, "a bird in the hand can be dirty" (qtd. in Smith 32).

2. WORKS CITED ENTRY: PLEASE NOTE that you have not asked about the Works Cited entry for this situation. Thus, I shall not attempt to describe the necessary elements here, except to note that you must have a corresponding Works Cited entry, and your Works Cited entry will begin with Smith.

I urge you to consult the sources below for the necessary elements and format for your Works Cited entry.

Good luck!

Can I use someone else's quote on a business card?

To the best of my knowledge you can use anything as long as it is in what is known as the public domain. That might sound a bit complicated but the general rule of business is that you can not use work that belongs to someone else or is copywrite. You would need to check that out but my best guess would be that a Greek philosopher is likely to be in the public domain.

If information is deemed to be in the public domain and therefore freely available - eg on a website, in a newspaper, magazine, phone directory or other freely available medium - you can replicate the information. For example, if you wish to have a list of eating places at your website, or a list of banks or chemists in your hotel bedrooms, you are allowed to take information which is published in say a telephone directory, newspaper, or other website, and reproduce it in an appropriate format.

You are not allowed to replicate directly personal information (like the home address of a florist's proprietor) but you can replicate the publicly available information (like the contact details of the florist business, and the opening times, for example). Never publish obviously personal or sensitive data, irrespective of whether you found it in the public domain.

"Everything is funny as long as it is happening to somebody else." Everything?

He was wrong as two left shoes. Its not funny to all people.

Do you agree with the quote, "If you aren't making someone else's life better, then you are wasting your time"?

Making someone else's life better isn't a necessity, its a choice you make for yourself. Yes, for yourself to feel better. As they say, “it adds more meaning to your life”. You definitely feel better when you donate a beggar on the street, don't you?Although, it isn't always about feeding a hungry, or visiting an orphanage, or helping a poor in need. Its true that one may not always have the means to offer their help in the form of material things. But, believe me or not, you're actually making a difference to people’s lives, just by doing as much as “breathing”. Or, to be precise, by being who you are.Every morning that you wake up, healthy and beaming, you make your parents’ feel better by only being safe and sound, wherever you are.Everyday when you spend time catching up with a friend, you're making their life better, by only listening to them ( trust me, some of them really need someone to talk to).Everytime when you open your laptop and study, you're investing in making the world a better place to live in, for your family in future.Everytime you like a video on YouTube, you make someone’s life better ;everytime you upvote an answer on Quora, you make someone’s life better, by being a cause of their happiness (and also money, in some cases). So, yes, unknowingly we're all doing it, everyday. Even if it is a very small gesture, it counts. Everything has a purpose,(even all the other planets which do not hold a sign of life) and you won't be existing if you don't make a difference.P. S. - Forgot to mention, even when you workout, you're dissipating energy to the universe, thus making it available in free form to be used in someway better.X D.

What is the meaning of this quote?!?

After reading this quote I believe it means that you shouldn't be afraid to to sacrifice something to help others. Your not losing anything because your giving to somebody else, helping somebody else. You actually gain something- a healthy and accomplished conscious and mind. You know this gift will help others and in the end thats why you had it in the first place. Everybody is on this world to add a little something :)

Explain this quote? "Ability is the art of getting credit for all the home runs somebody else hits."?

That doesn't seem like ability to me...if your are taking credit for success of others then that is...laziness and deception.

To me this is a poor quote. It reminds me of a politician who surrounds himself with talented competent people then takes the credit for their successess and claims their work as his own. So does that make you able? I suppose that some people may agree. Especially the author of this quote.
