How long would it take to read a 195 paged book in less in a week???
Definitely doable. There have definitely been times when I panicked because my AP English teacher assigned "Great Expectations" or other 400-500 page books (and a well-developed, analytical essay... but that's another story) in one week! Of course, there are those times when I procrastinate...until the last day (usually a Sunday night)...which makes for very little sleep. But if you budget your time, and break it up into 20 pages or so a day, or bring it with you and read a couple pages here and there, it will seem like hardly anything and you'll finish in not time. Don't stress, take a deep breath. It's definitely doable. Even if you're no speedreader... I've definitely seen people who read slowly get it done.
How can I read more books when there's too much to read and less time (any techniques, speed reading)?
Well, there is too much to read. Every day content grows, more and more books are published. However, time has not changed, so you don’t have less time. It’s all about how you spend those 24 hours that are given to you. You can read more books by allocating your time and energy towards reading and spend less time doing other things.Ask yourself: How many books do I want to read in one year? It’s a goal and it needs work. If you don’t take it seriously enough, you won’t accomplish that goal. So read daily to come closer to your reading goal.DON’T TRY TO READ MORE, TRY TO READ LESS!Time spent not reading a book, because you don’t need the information from that book, is time well spent. If you can skim a book in a few minutes, you have a huge advantage and you can better choose what books to read and what books not to read. I believe this is a more effective skill than just trying to “read more”.
Can you read a 500 page book in 1 day?!?
I think it would be trivial, if I had most of a day free to do nothing but read. A 300 page book takes me 2-3 hours.
How do I spend less time surfing the web and more time reading books?
I think I understand what you mean and for me a good book always trumps surfing the Internet - I literally become addicted to a good book and don't want to put it away. Some things I have done to increase my reading- keep a list of books I want to read and then start buying them- try to find a (daily) routine; for me I use my commute time to/from work every weekday, meaning that I almost never read in the weekend but read 1-2 hours a day during the week.
Which countries use less social media and read more books?
According to Global Publics Embrace Social Networking report, there are three countries which have the least social media usage(In terms of absolute percentage):GermanyJapanFranceIn terms of relative(Ration of usage: non usage people):JapanGermanyFranceI don’t know much about Germany, France. But based on what I do know about Japan, most of Japanese read around 4hr 6min for a week. On contrary to that, INDIA stood first in reading habit where INDIA has more ratio of the social media usage. I think there is no proper relation between social media usage and reading books. In terms of mathematics, (purely on my opinion, no source for citing this), there is an inverse proportionalality relationship between reading and Social media Usage.PS:Thanks to Naricy Du for stopping “systematic promotion” and improving my answer.Any one who is interested to improve my answer and extend my trivial research would be helpful. This is just my opinion and not a perfect answer. I don’t know the authenticity of this report.Footnote :Which Country Reads the Most?Find Out Who Reads the Most with this Global Reading Guide
How can I motivate myself to read more books?
There are books that I am interested in reading, but I am part of a vicious cycle. Whenever I have the time to read a book, I don't feel motivated. Whenever I am motivated, I don't have the time. When I have time, I would instead do lazier activities such as play video games, watch TV, or surf the web on whatever is on my mind, things that use less thought. This even applies to books for class that I am interested in. Even though I want to read them, the simple thought that it is for school kind of ruins it. This leads to last-minute speed reading or Sparknotes. When I have the motivation, it is usually at a bad time. For example, when I have an assignment to do for school, one thing I would do is get out an irrelevant book and read. It's almost as though it is an escape from the assignment, much in contrast with books for class. After examining my situation, what advice can you give me? How can I break this bad cycle? How can I become a more avid reader, and how do I motivate myself to do so? Thanks!
How do I read more books in less time without forgetting the gist and morals?
One of the best ways to read more books is to start listening to audiobooks in your driving time. Even if you drive one hour a day alone, choose a book find its audiobook on youtube and start listetning to it. You will be surprised to see how a 300 page book is often only 7–8 hours in audiobook time. Further, you will utilize all your driving time for something good. One of the limitations of this method is that while driving your attention is partially divided and often something more urgent demands your attention for a minute or two. Due to this, you cannot comprehend very complex books in that time. I would suggest choose a book that does not present very complex concepts and you are good to go.
