How To Reinstall The Sims 3

If I uninstall and reinstall the Sims 3 base game do I have to uninstall the EPs?

Many of you know, when you download items from the Exchange, you get glitches such as in create-a-sim when you do the size of the body, the body doesn't change in size but it gets all waked and moves, and when your female sims is pregnant she doesn't look like it at all. I want to take all of the exchange items off and I know that if I do I have to uninstall it. I have many expansion packs. I was wondering if i could uninstall the base game and reinstall it will the EPs be okay?

How long does it take to reinstall The Sims 3?

It varies on a bunch of parameters, from the speed of your CPU, the memory in your computer the hard drive space etc. On my laptop just installing the base game no expansions took 10 minutes, with the expansions i would say about two hours. That would be my solution to why it seems to be freezing.

To get it moving faster, you can always open up the task manager and disable any non essential programs like iTunes or an instant message program. It frees up RAM and CPU for the program to run more efficiently.

How to fix the sims 3 without reinstalling?

It is telling you to reinstall because it did not install properly in the first place. Perhaps a file was misplaced or the process was interrupted and skipped. If it is telling you to reinstall then i think its best that you do. Also check that your graphics drivers are up to date. Go to control panel, System and Security, System, Device Manager, then find your graphics card (most probably Nvidia) double click on it and click driver. Then update driver.

I hope this is not confusing and i hope it helps. Although probably not what you were hoping for.
Please let me know what you think of this.

Before I install The Sims 4, how do I save The Sims 3 before I uninstall?

Open Computer (aka, open Windows Explorer or File Explorer).Browse to your Documents folder.See the folder called "Electronic Arts"?  Open it.See the folder called "The Sims 3"?  That's all your saved game data.  Save that whole directory somewhere.  As long as you have that directory, you can reinstall Sims 3 and play all your previous saved games.  You do not need to save the game installation.  You only need to retain this directory of saved games (and mods).

How do you re-install the Sims 3 if you've lost the serial code?

If it’s registered, you may be able to reinstall using Origin. Some of my older registrations didn’t transfer to this, but I think that was more The Sims 2.For Windows, you may also be able to get the license key from the registry. I haven’t done this with The Sims 3, but I did for The Sims 2. I’m not sure if this would work if you’ve already uninstalled it.This site has some information on it, as well as some other methods that may work. I haven’t used the tools they have listed, so I’m not sure how well they work.Mod The Sims - Game_Help:Finding_Your_License_KeyIf you don’t have access to the computer it was originally installed on or if you can’t find the key using the above methods, Origin customer support can be very helpful. I was able to get The Sims 2 Complete installed on my new computer by providing a key from one expansion pack. They may require some other sort of proof that you’ve purchased the game, perhaps pictures of the discs?

Is it possible to uninstall and reinstall the sims 3 without losing custom content and families?

Yep, just when uninstalling it'll ask do you want to keep your settings and saved games if I remember correctly. I've never had a problem with keeping my families. And if it doesn't ask - i think it won't delete them...

How do I re-install Sims 3 and expansion without losing data?

This'll be a bit long, so bear with me...

I know that in the Electronic Arts folder (normally the "User Name/Documents/Electronic Arts" folder) there is a location called "Saves" as well as "SavedSims," and for your downloads: "Downloads." You can back these folders up so you don't lose important files if you choose to reinstall the game.

Sometimes patches can mess with certain things, especially if you have custom content, so you should try running without custom content (option in the game launcher) to see if that is the issue.

--- If you choose to run without custom content:
The game does not bother loading the custom content and downloads into the game, so granted some objects would/should be "missing" until you allow the custom content back into the game, via the game launcher's "Run Without Custom Content" check box.

--- As for backing up your important files:
You can try backing your families, downloads, screen-shots, etc., by copying these folders: "Downloads, SavedSims, Saves, Screenshots," and anything else you see in the folder that may be significant to you (like "Custom Music").
[The "Current Game" folder may not actually be useful backing up, as I didn't when I needed to back my things up, and nothing changed or was lost]

Copy and paste the desired folders to a safe location, so that when you reinstall everything, you can copy and paste them back into the "User Name/Documents/Electronic Arts" folder locations respectively, and the game should recognize them as files.

Then presto, everything should be just fine. Keep the backup folders in the safe location and see if the game works. If it still has issues, it will most likely be the custom content messing with you. There have been some recent problems with the Sims 3 Exchange, and some items have been causing "mischief."
