The only way to change your MAC address is to literally replace the wifi / network card inside your computer. An IP address is assigned each time your computer restarts (generally) and is assigned by your router. It's like a PO Box that you get when your touring around the country. If you are getting an IP address error or a message like "oh nos! there is already a device with this IP address!" do not panic. Just restart. That should resolve an IP conflict. No, it will not really affect your personal files - Documents, pictures etc will still be there and nothing gets deleted.Any personal settings for Windows (desktop background, start menu settings etc etc will be affected and reset to their defaults.)So if the PC isn't working you can perfectly well either repair the existing installation or install a new copy of Windows on the same drive as the current non-functional version.However, after getting the system to work I would really recommend that you backup all your personal files and then format the system drive, then install Windows onto that clean drive.After installing Windows I would recommend that you go to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings (left side...) and then the tab "System Protection."Turn off Protection for all drives, it causes more harm than good.EDIT:Just noticed the other answer on this question, excellent idea as well.
