My laptop isn't Shutting Down. What should I do?
This problem happened to me, and a hard reset fixed it. Simply hold down your power button until it turns off. If this doesn’t work for some reason, unplug it and take out the battery (I’m assuming your laptop has one).Hope this helps!
My laptops keyboard doesn't have the keys f1-f12?
The play, pause, etc keys ARE the F# keys. In your bios you can change how the keys work. You can either have F1-12 as your F1-12 keys, and use the Fn + F# keys to use play/pause/etc functions. OR You can have those buttons do play/pause/etc just by clicking them, and hold Fn + F# to get the F# key inputs. Usually they are set up default as the latter. Which means you need to press the Fn key first. (again if you dont want that, look in your bios to change it). And even if the F# isnt printed on the keys, it still works the same way. the first 4 are F1-4, the next 4 are F5-8, etc

Hi, My Evesham 8317 laptop doesn’t seem to boot since replacing the motherboard with a 8317(R)’s motherboard: the hdd access light seems to stay on, no hdd has been installed since replacing the 8317 motherboard with an 8317(R)’s. I presume an 8317(R)’s caddy can be installed to remedy this, however, the optical drive’s access light stays off: this may not be the case. All the parts of the 8317 are compatible with the 8317(R) motherboard (confirmed on the Ebay listings for Evesham/Hi-Grade 8317(R) components). I do not believe that the 8317(R) motherboard is at fault; is there any way to by-pass this cmos/bios error thus avoiding the purchase of another Evesham/Hi-Grade 8317/8317(R) motherboard? 1. I have tried to reset the bios, through the removal of the cmos cell, to reset any password-lock that may have been tripped. Which is the best way to reset the 8317(R) bios, there are no jumpers that I can see, I have no vdu to try bios reset/flash programs. 2. Was the 8317(R) motherboard designed for the Athlon 64 2.2GHz, or is a Semperon expected in 8317(R)’s Socket 754 slot(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hi-Grade-8317R-SEMPRON-Spare-Repairs-T4623-v-/120482967025?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH&hash=item1c0d582df1). Once again, buying another motherboard may be fruitless. 3. I still haven’t found the blueprints to follow how the “redundant”, four-pinned slot (next to the DVDR interface) is utilised. Are there any photos/articles showing how this slot works I do not believe that the 8317(R) motherboard is faulty, it’s just not as plug and play as its predecessor. The “hdd access” light was not noticed with the 8317 board - which had lacked the hdd, and its caddy, it appears to be significant with the 8317(R) board. An electronic copy of the 8317 and the 8317(R) manual with diagnostic lights explanation would help a great deal.
My laptop connected to WiFi but doesn't work (I am unable to browse any web sites). Other devices connected to this WiFi work fine except my laptop. But when it is connected to other network it works fine. What is wrong?
Check if Mac filter is enabled on the Wi-Fi router which ll let you connect but you can't browse ! In case add your laptop 's Mac address in Mac filter list !!The other problem might be APIPA (automatic Private IP addressing) after connected go to cmd and type ipconfig , if you see your IP address as 169.254.x.x then you can't browse internet this is due to the fact that your Wi-Fi router allows only some limited amount of devices to get connected . if that range exceeds the limit you ll get apipa and you cant browse !
How do I get rid of cat urine smell from my laptop?
Well, it seems to come from under the keys. I tried using a LOT of canned air but that didn't help, maybe made it worse... And if I smeared pasta sauce on it then I would want to eat it and then I would have no laptop so that won't work. Wipes won't get under the keys so I don't know how to do it...

Other answers have jumped to a hardware fault. Perhaps not incorrectly, sure. But I'd first make sure we're not dealing with a software issue, or any other "have you tried turning it off and back on again?" sort of things.First, and foremost, does your laptop have a "Display Off" button? I have a Sony Vaio which has one of these. It's a flush bezel button near the clamshell hinge. I have absolutely no fucking clue why it's there. But it is. The only thing I can think of is it's a "privacy" button...for when you can't quite hit the (x) close button on the browser window when your spouse walks in on you ogling (.)'s.Since you didn't post a picture I will assume that you mean the screen is entirely black. Sometimes those stupid connectors can become loose -- or worse, crimped [kids knocking the thing about, etc.] -- so that they don't make a proper connection. I can't tell you how many times I've sat down with my laptop that had been "plugged in" for hours only to hit the power button, see it appear to go through its start-up groans, only to have it fizzle-out and not work shortly after.Do you have a recovery disc for the OS you have installed? What happens if you turn the power on with that in the laptop?Do you have a USB memory stick? If so, there are a bunch of different things to try here Boot and run Linux from a USB flash memory stick, even booting DOS from it.
Will resetting my laptop get rid of viruses?
So i noticed my laptop has been performing slower, and has had a lot of pop-ups.. so i got the AVG and Ad-aware and started using Fire fox. But i was wondering if resetting my laptop will help. Someone please help :( .
