After I sent someone a message on FB, his name is listed under my chat list/ in my contacts. How can I remove him from the chat list?
If its a non-friend:- click on Options:-Delete conversation. That will remove the avatar/contact. Alternatively , click on options :-Archive to temporarily remove it to storage. But once this person has had a "history" with you...all you need to do to resurrect the contact , is to type in the name again, and the contact will re-appear. If you want to permanently delete the contact, so that it does not re-appear in the future, you have to click on Options :- Block mess. or mark as Spam/Report.

HEY GUYS, I THINK I'VE FIXED THE PROBLEM? sign in to your mail acct. from ANOTHER comp.. i also went into messenger options, & blocked the person that sent this 'message'. i then, clicked the 1st tab in that same section. this will only allow friends from your contact list to message you.. oh yeah, i also cleaned my cache/ cookies/ history right b4 logging out. this has stopped the flashing tab, while removing the message alert. i hope i've fixed this issue permanently? good luck! :)
If someone shows up as "Facebook user" in messages, does it mean that their account is deactivated or deleted? Or that they blocked me?
This is a very tricky question because it depends on two things:If the person picture is still there this means they blocked you. The picture doesn't disappear straightaway.If their picture is blank from the first moment it said Facebook User, then they have blocked you.I have a friend who loves to block me over little disagreements, then I have another friend who disables his account almost every week, aha. If I deactivate my Facebook will my name still show up on messages?
When your deactivated your FB account, your ID will still appeared on your every friend’s contact and friend list. If you deactivated your FB account, there’s an option if you want to use your messenger or not. If you disabled this option then even if your id still appeared on their contact list, they can’t contact you.I’m moving my FB account to a new one, so I often activated and deactivated quite often. My messenger is active on my old account. I never test deleting my account, so I’m not sure how it will appeared if you deleted your FB account. But, I think it will have the same effect.
