How To Report My Earnings From Substitute Teaching To The Income Support

Is Form 16 necessary to file an income tax return in India?

Things to consider:1. Part-A of the Form-16 (that is the TDS deducted by the employer) can be obtained from the TRACES website (the official government website): TRACES | HomeThere is no cost in obtaining this Form-16 Part-A.You can also review your Form-26AS which also has the information about your Form-16 deductions -- Guide to obtaining your Form-26AS is here: ClearTax: How to view your Tax Credit Statement? | Viewing your Form 26ASTo understand what is Part-A and what is Part-B -- refer this guide: ClearTax: Understanding Your Form-162. The employer is mandated to provide you with a Form-16 (both Part-A and Part-B). If you write to the finance department of the organisation you worked for, they will provide you with the form-16.In my experience, some people are reluctant to obtain a form-16 after they have left the previous employer or in some cases, when the previous employer is not on great terms after the departure. In any case, the employer is mandated by the I-T Department to provide you with a form-16 after TDS, so no matter what, you can ask for it (don't hesitate).3. In some cases, the employer does not have the Form-16 Part-B available due to tardiness of the finance department. While this is unacceptable, you may have to do compliance (of filing your Income Tax Return) to meet the deadline. In this case, you will have to make a "reverse" calculation or an estimate of your taxable salary. This is not a desirable thing to do. However given the situation of a lack of Form-16, you make a calculation of your taxable salary using pay-slips (and then calculating net salary you received). With this number, you can then file your tax return.Obviously you can take our help anytime :-) We are available at support@cleartax.in for questions and further help.Hope this helps :-)

What was your most interesting career move?

A2AWhile a lot of my career moves were decided for me by the military, the most significant one that I had direct control over was my most recent. While in the military, I did a wide variety of IT work. However, the Navy doesn’t have programmers as a military job; they tend to contract that work out. So, all of my programming knowledge was acquired outside the military. As such, most of my knowledge was either theoretical, i.e. stuff I gleaned from the Internet, received from my Computer Engineering degree (which was nearly 15 years ago), or hobby programming.Part of my hobby programming was learning Python. I didn’t like C, C++, or Java when I learned them in school so I decided to give Python a try, as it was recommended as a good hobbyist language. After struggling with Python for a bit, I eventually learned it but realized that I didn’t like the books I learned from, so I wrote my own.Now into its third edition, my Python book series requires me to keep up-to-date with the language and constantly learning new things about both the language and programming in general. Almost entirely because of my book series, I now have a job as an offensive/defensive software developer in support of national security.Because my background is not computer science or programming, I never thought I would be working as a programmer. But here I am, double the salary I had in the military and not only working as a programmer, but also teaching programming with Thinkful.

What are the financial realities of a typical concert pianist?

Thanks for the interesting responses so far.

The picture gets a bit clearer to me now; for many classical pianists including successful ones, teaching and other activities are still where the money is; it is difficult for most graduates to survive from performances income alone; winning a big competition may give a chance to break an artist, but there is no guarantee; and luck plays significant role in this career.

Chinese Cowboy - thank you for your input. Would it be fair to say that fees for a moderately in demand pianist range between, say, $1000 - $10000 per concert? Then, after agent fees and taxes, the pianist will net about half of that, from which he/she must also deduct transport, food and lodging costs related to this date?

Why do people think child support should be banned?

I mean, you shouldn't leave the baby to the woman, and forget about them. You DID get her pregnant in the first place. I understand there are women who take advantage of it, but most don't. Child support is just what it is, supporting your child. It can't support both the mother and baby. The mother also has to work, or else...
BA Question: Why do you think child support should be banned (if you think it should be.) Or, if you don't think it should be banned, why do you think people want to ban it?

As an international student in the United States (F1 visa), will I violate any visa policy if I do some freelance work on the internet for people residing outside of the USA?

As an F-1 visa holder, you must have enough money of your own to support yourself while you’re in the U.S. to study. Past that, you have very limited options when it comes to employment:Students in their first academic year cannot work off campus at all. However, they can accept certain types of on-campus employment.Students past their first year can only participate in three types of off-campus employment. Those three options are curricular practical training, optional practical training (pre- or post-completion of your course of study), and STEM optional practical training extension. So, no, you would not be legally able to provide freelance services to people in other countries while you are here on an F-1 visa. If you did, you could violate your visa. You could have it revoked. You could be deported and even banned from re-entering the United States. As others have pointed out, sending the money to a foreign bank account or even putting into an American account not in your name shouldn’t even be a consideration in your mind because you can create bigger problems.Something you may consider doing is our LawTrades Micro service. This particular service allows people to pay a low flat-rate (usually around $25) to ask one of our experienced attorneys a custom question. Within 48 hours, you’ll receive an answer that addresses your particular situation. If you’re looking to work with an immigration attorney more directly we can help with that as well :)Hope you give us a visit - g’luck!

If drawing social security disability check , is it possible to work part time?

You can work, but if your income from that job exceeds a certain percentage of your check, a corresponding percentage of your check will be cut. Regardless of the cut, you will come out ahead always. It is an incentive to work. Also, if your income exceeds X percent- more than 100%- of your disability check for more than 9 months in a year, your check will be cut entirely as you have the ability to earn that income.

Do animal shelter donations count as tithing?

Shewolf has a point. God doesn't need money. The giving of tithes is nothing more than a substitute for the Old Testament Deuterocanonical requirements that one either render to God that which would be His, 1/10th, or sacrifice by giving blood sacrifices of their own unblemished animals.

It was an either/or situation.

The purpose of tithing is to commit to perform a selfless act. When you give of yourself then you are returning to God a portion of what you have so that God can give you blessings in return. But if you don't, then you have to make sacrifices to God.

Some people do not tithe in money, they simply do for others, whether it be animals of various non-human species or the human varieties.

The Old Testament canon (Deut. 14:22-29) says you do not have to give money. It can be 10 percent of your land, of your fruits, of whatever it is that comes of your labors. You are supposed to save up 10 percent every year, and each year eat of that which you saved or exchange it for silver (money) and save that to multiply your blessings. At the end of 3 years, then bring 10 percent of that to a place or town for the poor and down-trodden. The list is not exclusive, its merely exemplary. Widows, children, orphans, the poor, and those in need are all included.

Nowhere does it exclude life forms of any kind, or forbid helping animals. If anything animals contribute to the planet too, and they enrich peoples' lives through companionship and with cats, mousing. :P

Seriously, instead of worrying about form, start thinking substance. You're doing something for beings on this word which are helpless at this point. So helping them is like taking in those who need help.
