How To Reset A Rooted Phone

What is the easiest way to reset a "rooted" phone?

It seems that you are looking to return the phone to it's original state, as you received it from your supplier or store. If that is the case, then, disregarding what you have done to the phone (and assuming it works fine, hardware-wise, of course); you need to flash the original stock firmware. If you don't have a backup of the original firmware, then look around on Google for that: Use terms like "Original stock firmware."With that stock firmware image, you can flash it and return the phone to its original state. The store shouldn't notice the rooting and hacking you did into the device.Be careful when doing the flashing, if you flash the wrong firmware, you could turn your phone into a brick (not desirable, of course). If you just unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone, you could "manually" reverse that. There are some apps that would UN-root the phone, look for them on the Play Store.  You don't mention your phone's brand - some like the Google Nexus can be bootloader locked/unlocked at will, some others are a great pain regarding bootloader unlocking/relocking so, you have to check for your brand and model specifically.Another "good news" is that some stores/carriers/vendors do not check on the phone's status regarding bootloader locking and rooting. If you just want to make your warranty effective then there is a chance that they will only check on the purchase date and not on the phone's bootloader's lock and root status.  This is a gamble, of course.Good luck restoring your phone to its original pristine state.

How do I factory reset a rooted Android phone?

This is applicable to both rooted and non-rooted devices:Open your phone in recovery mode (it will be a combination of Lock button + Volume up or down key depending on your manufacturer). In recovery, you'll find the option to wipe data. You will find factory reset inside it, or you can just wipe all data and it'll be all new!

By factory reset can we restore a rooted phone?

It's not a good idea to "factory reset" a rooted Android phone running stock ROM. There might be some issues with the custom recovery. The best way to reset a rooted Android device is flashing the factory image. Doing this will revert all software modifications you have ever done to your device. After you do this, the phone will be as it was when you opened it out of the box for the first time.I recommend using Titanium Backup to backup application and user files and setting and restore them after performing a factory reset or installing a custom rom onto your device.

What if I hard reset my rooted phone? Will the root be removed?

Nowadays, root privilege is achieved by patching the boot.img of your phone.ex. Magisk, SuperSU by ChainfireSo, even if you hard reset your phone, boot.img would still be patched. The only way to remove the patch is either upgrade to a later version of OS or flash the Stock OS again.

Hi
im having some issues with my Android phone. it is the LG Ally.
its just been going very slow and none of my apps are working. i cant log on to facebook or get on to the market without it saying "network connection error"
its really irritating me.
i was wondering how i can fix this. is it bad to completely root or reset my phone? will it make it go faster? or slower? will it ruin my phone if i factory reset it? i heard that if you do there is a risk of "bricking" the phone or something..... like making it unusable.... is that possible
im scared to reset it cause i don't want to mess it up even more than it is
it used to work fine.....

also, what is overclocking??

Is it safe to a factory reset on the custom rom of rooted phone?

Yes, but factory reset may or may not work properly. Ideally, a factory reset will 1. Restore the original operating system to the device, 2. Unroot it, 3. Lock the software lock that prevents other operating systems from being installed, and 4. Delete all personal data, apps, photos, etc. You may not have to lose all your data (apps, photos, etc) though. You should be able to format the system partitions, install the original os as provided by the manufacturer of your phone, and leave your data intact.(if your bootloader is locked you're out of luck.) If you don't want to do that, you can format everything, and start from scratch. If you have installed a new operating system on your phone, formatting and reinstalling may be your only choice. If you have the original os installed, there may be an option to factory reset in options, but this will delete everything personal as well. It should unroot the phone, too.For information on factory resetting an android phone:How to Factory Reset your Android PhoneFor information on flashing (installing) the original os (on Samsung phones):How to Restore the Stock ROM on Samsung Devices [Android] - Make Tech EasierThis is a link for Nexus devices:How to flash the factory image for the July 2016 security update on Nexus devicesThe tutorial for Nexus devices is for installing the latest update from android 6, but the process is similar for earlier versions of android.Good luck!

If my Android phone was rooted and I did a factory reset, is it still called rooted, or not?

Yes! It shall still remain rooted under following circumstances. When you factory reset your device using , all your current apps are flushed out and the apps that were installed when you purchased the device will be installed automatically. So, when you factory reset your phone, the then root access of the device shall again be set as it was when bought. Strictly speaking, factory reset gives back the root access to your phone instead of ignoring it for a third party. So, to enjoy the root, you have to go through the process of installing the third party superuser. However, if you try to FACTORY HARD RESET your phone and flash the firmware into it, I'm afraid you may loose the root access for the device's previous operating system shall be replaced by the newer, stock one.

What happens when.you root a phone?

"Rooting" is a process in which you gain access to those system components which are by default not accessible.

Rooting will allow you to install Custom ROMs (meaning 3rd party Android versions) on your phone.
HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE !! - The Steps for rooting are risky. you have to go through xda-developers forum (or youtube) to see how your particular phone model can be rooted. Don't watch rooting of another model and try to follow for your model (This will "Brick" your phone - Meaning it will be just a paper weight nothing else)

If at all you want to install Custom Roms then it makes sense to go for rooting...Don't do it only because your friend did it.
It has its share of pros and cons...and to be honest only someone who is fully aware of what he/she is doing should root a phone.

If your "Root" the phone, your warrant is VOID and for any problem the manufacturer will not entertain you.
(however you can un-root, and get back the warranty)

I have rooted 2 phones till date without any problems .
