Amazon purchase - not enough money!?
I have a Visa debit gift card (A Gift For You) that has a tiny bit of money left on it. I went and placed an order that totaled to $22.50. The card was already saved on my Amazon account. So it made that the primary payment method. Now I am POSITIVE it doesn't have enough money on it, but I decided to proceed with it. I figured it would tell me I would have insufficient funds, and that I had to come up with more money. I WANTED that to happen so I could see the balance as well. But it didn't happen! The order was placed! I am freaking out. I cancelled the order immediately, but I don't know why this is happening. Any idea?

Amazon Promotional Balance Disappearing?
So, when purchasing stuff on Amazon using a credit card, I noticed that you get some promotional credit with each purchase, which you can apply to your next purchase. When it offers to apply my available promotion balance however, I always unchecked the "apply promotions and gifts" box because I thought you could save it all up for a big purchase in the future. I was able to accumulate more than $100 worth of promotional credit (mostly from purchasing games and software) in about 5 months. I stopped buying from Amazon for a long while after that, and have recently decided to make a big purchase in hopes of using the promotional balance. However, I noticed the usual $100+ promotional balance that I would be able to apply to my purchases has dwindled down to around $30. So, does that mean Amazon takes back the promotional credit after a certain time? If so, I think Amazon should put some bold text concerning this right next to the checked box for promotions and gifts, because it doesn't make sense to not use the promotional credit if it has an expiration date (and the expiration aspect isn't made obvious to customers). I could have saved $70+ worth of purchases in my previous orders with Amazon.

Okay, no you can't but you can get around this.Go into your Amazon account and find a kindle ebook that is relatively close to the same price as your gift card balance. If it's a larger balance then you will need to do this several times. And it has to be an ebook.Once you have found the ebook, look over to the right where it shows the ‘buy now's and scroll down under that and find ‘give as a gift' and click that. The next page wants you to fill in the Amazon email of the person you wish to gift. It's the first choice and make sure gift date says ‘now'.Hit send.From this step forward the recipient does his/her part. Recipient for into the email that is linked to their Amazon account and opens email with gift notice from Amazon.
