How do I set up visual voicemail on my iPhone?

If your carrier supports Visual Voicemail, you can set it up with these steps:Go to the Phone app, then tap the Voicemail tab.Tap Set Up Now.Create a voicemail password, then tap Done.Enter your password again to confirm it, then tap Done.Select Custom or Default. If you choose Custom, you can record a new greeting.Tap Done to save your greeting.Transfer your existing VoicemailTo transfer your existing voicemail, follow these steps:Go to the Phone app, then tap the Voicemail tab.Tap Set Up Now.Enter your password,* then tap done.Record a custom greeting or use the default greeting, then tap Save.If you forget your voicemail password, there's no way to reset it from your iPhone. You need to contact your carrier to reset your password. If you insert a new SIM card, you might lose the voicemails that you saved on your iPhone.Hope this helps :)

Help with voicemail on a Iphone?!?

Here's a forum that shows many people have had a similar issue. You might have to try reseting your phone completely, or (god forbid dealing with crappy customer support) calling Apple at 1-800-MYIPHONE

Or:

- Go to you VoiceMail, it will dial. Change your Voicemail Password to what you desire. End call and enter Settings. It should ask for you voicemail password in a popup. From there it should start to work.

- I had this issue on Friday, what you need to do after you set up your voicemail password, greeting etc, if the phone still dials voicemail is reset the network settings..

Go into settings > general > reset > reset network settings..

IPhone 4S voicemail set-up trouble? (Sprint)?

I was having the same issue and then I called Sprint and re-set my network and that didn't work. She then transferred me to a "specialist" that was able to get it working for me after we shut down my phone and re-set the voicemail settings on the phone (done on Sprints networks). Now my voicemail is working just fine.

Hope this helps

Why can't I set up my voicemail?

If you are getting the busy signal when dialing your own ten digit number, then it almost certainly means you have accidentally activated the "No Answer/Busy Transfer" feature on your line. The previous post is exactly right about how to fix this. Here's how the voicemail works and how your problem developed:

Any line activated on Verizon Wireless that does have a voicemail feature on it has an automatic forwarding feature on it that sends the call to the voicemail box if either A) you don't answer your phone for 4-6 rings or B) the network cannot detect your phone or cannot get a call through to it for any reason. This is the way voicemail should work.

However, if the No Answer/Busy Transfer feature is activated on your line it determines when your line is busy and forwards the call to another number. If it was activated on your handset by accidentally dialing *71 5638 SND, then when the network determines that your phone is busy, it will forward your calls to 5638 which is not a legitimate number and will result in a fast busy or error tone.

So what happens when you dial your voicemail? Whether you are dialing *86, holding down the 1 button speed-dial or dialing your own number, they are all calling your 10 digit number. And when you initiate a call from your own phone to your own phone number, as the network tries to connect the call it determines that your phone (which has just started an outbound call) is busy, so the No Answer/Busy Transfer feature overrides the default forwarding to your voicemail box and sends your call to the random number that was activated with the accidental dialing of *71.

So dialing *73 should clear it up!
