How To Soothe Ear Stretching Stinging/pain

Is there a way to soothe pain from stretching you ears?

Personal Experience, My ears are stretched at 9/16ths, so i have been through this process multiple times. Currently I assume you have tapers in, Since you did this last night you should be able to line up the largest end of the taper with your plug, then slide your ear so it is easily transferred to the plug. If you are in the shower, it could help the process. Steam will soften your ears and water is a slight lubricant.
As for the pain, after the plugs are in, you can flick your ear lobes a bit, this tickles and suprisingly doesnt hurt.
You can also take some asprin, tylenol motrin to reduce swelling and ease pain. :)

Oh, and as a lubrication you can use a&d ointment vaseline or baby oil. no lotion.

How to soothe ear stretching stinging/pain?

I've had my ears stretched for over 5 years and after a few months almost a year, I decided to finally size up to 5/8ths. I have a stubborn ear and it's causing me a bit of some pain. I've been using tea tree oil & peroxide but it's just annoying & hard to ignore. Any help will be appreciated. Down sizing isn't an option. Unless it's still in this much pain after a week.

How can I reduce my stretched ears to stop stinging?

I just got over the same hump as you (yay for 3/4th!) and my ears are currently stinging and sore from being stretched. I've learned that it's unfortunately normal and yours are going to be pissier for these reasons:

1) 11/16ths exists between 5/8ths and 3/4ths, so you essentially skipped a size. This will cause additional pain.

2) You stretched with silicone.

Silicone is notorious for causing tears and other assorted issues and all reputable brands, including KAOSSoftware, recommends that silicone not be used for new stretches. It likes to bond to the body, cause cuts, and is too soft to hold a 'true' 3/4ths diameter. For a less painful stretch, a few suggestions are:

1) Go down to 11/16ths and let your ears rest there for a bit. I was impatient and waited a week before going from 11/16ths to 3/4ths, so I'm getting the stinging, burning feelings as well.

2) Use single-flare surgical steel tunnels and tapers! They don't harbor as much bacteria, make for easier stretching, and tend to hurt less than basically slamming your ears open with silicone.

I've also noticed that some gauges are tougher than others and, as a result, tend to ache more - 3/4ths is one of those sizes. Just tough it out if it's tolerable and keep an eye on it. If you develop any strange redness, inflammation, oozing, pussing, or ungodly pain, size down immediately and get to work on healing that infection! Good luck!

Ear stretching. Is pain normal?

Well assuming you didn't skip sizes the reason you are having pain with these size and you havent had any pain with other stretches is this, with each next size the jumps get larger like from a 12g too a 10g is like .3millimeters while from a 8g too a 6g is roughly 1millimeter so more pain isn't unusual and from a 2g too a 0g is 2mm and any jumps after that are 2mm so they should be expected too be the most painful. The stinging pain is from the stretching, stretching your ears causes micro tears in the skin the swelling is normal if it doesn't go down within a couple days see a doctor and if its infected they'll give you some general antibiotics and all should be well. =)

Are there remedies for pain after stretching ears?

Either a lil ice... or EVEN BETTER, if you have some chamomile tea, make the tea... but then take the tea bag and lay it on your lobes, the warmth will soothe, and chamomile is a Natural anti-inflammatory.

Stretching should never hurt... if this happened every time... then it sounds like your not waiting long enough between stretches

You SHOULD be waiting AT LEAST the Bare minimum between stretches:
16g to 14g - 1 month
14g to 12g - 1 month
12g to 10g - 1.5 months
10g to 8g - 2 months
8g to 6g - 3 months
6g to 4g - 3 month
4g to 2g - 3 months
2g to 0g - 4 months
0g to 00g - 4 months

I'm gonna guess you've developed a fair share of scar tissue too... for the sake, health and beauty of your lobes take your time, go SLOW *Stretching isn't a race* and pick up some Jojoba oil at your local health foods store, and start massaging and oiling your lobes to break up and dissolve any and all scar tissue as well as making stretching easier... It's proven that oil massaging your lobes twice a day Plus waiting the appropriate times lead to easier pain free stretches, as well as happy stretchy lobes

How long is ear stretching supposed to hurt?

I stretched me ears from 12 to 10 a few hours ago and it stung pretty badly, and my ears felt like they were on fire, so I took out the 10 gauge plug and put my 12 gauge claw back in.
It's not supposed to even hurt, right? I think maybe I stretched too quickly. I waited about 3 weeks in between my stretches. Should I have waited longer?

Good ways to ease the pain in stretched ears!?!?!?

Downsize and it will stop.

Stretching should never cause any bit of pain whatsoever. The fact that it does means your ears weren't ready to be stretched.

And yeah, you shouldn't be wearing tapers for extended periods of time.

Never put neosporin or any kind of ointment on any kind of piercing. Sea salt soaks for the piercing if necessary (although they shouldn't be when you're stretching), vitamin e oil massages on the lobe.

I stretched my ear from 8G to a 6G yesterday, today it's swollen, hard and painful - did i do it right?

I stretched my ear from 8G to a 6G yesterday, it was painful all day and throbbing. Today it's swollen, hard and still painful, I'm just wondering if i did it right and if this is normal? I don't want to take the taper out (Incidentally i used a Bull horn taper)...I'm no stranger to pain so i don't mind keeping it in as long as i know that what I've done is normal and that it will heal ok?
Is there anything I can do to reduce swelling, I have taken arnica to reduce bruising/swelling...Don't Currently have any Ibuprofen but will get some if it's really gonna help. Would appreciate any ideas or advice!

Thanks for your help! :-)

How many millimetres can I stretch my ear at a time? I mean, if my ear holes are now 1mm, can I just throw in a 3mm and after few weeks a 5mm? 5mm is my goal, because I’m never gonna stretch farther than that.

Yes, you can jump sizes. It's better to stretch a size or two at a time however and not to drastically all at once, because it can rip or tear your ear. Always use a good strectch oil or lubricant, I prefer Neosporin+ pain relief, because it helps with the sting of stretching and helps you avoid infection. Also, your ears will still close after 00 (10mm), mine are at a 5/8 (16mm) and my loves shrink up if I leave my jewelry out.
