A couple of questions about the movie Forrest Gump?
Forrest Gump was not a real person, he did represent the American public as a whole, though. So in that sense, he is "real". Winston Groom wrote the book Forest Gump which I do believe is written under "Fiction" in the library and other catalog. The way that they edited Tom Hanks into the movie was FRAME BY FRAME editing of old documented films and ectremely careful and precise editing! It looks incredibly real because of all of the computer effects that went into those scenes. Gary Sinise, the man who plays Lt. Dan, was wearing blue socks during the time where he was without legs. (the blue socks were like a blue screen, allowing people to edit them out and change them) Again, frame by frame, the editors edited out his legs and replaced them with the background of the frame. Gary does have legs in real life, and since he's a very good actor and the effects in the movie were so well done, it gives the illusion that he didn't have any. A lot of people did not like the Vietnam War and Forrest was speaking at a protest rally for it. The United States general most likely thought it was "his duty" to stop the anti-war activists, since they were not being "patriotic" towards their country by speaking out against the war. Since Forrest was talking to them about the war, that's why it was "bad". I hope I cleared some things up! :)
