How do you start a blog?

You can either run a blog-centered web site mostly by yourself or use a developer-hosted blog service to start a blog.

If you want to create a web site controlled mostly by you (i.e. a stand-alone blog), then you would need money - $10 to $160 - to pay for a web host and/or domain name (prices vary regarding time range and offered features). You may need to purchase blogging software as well. There are some services that are all-inclusive - web hosting, domain name, blogging software in one package. See http://www.problogger.net/archives/2006/... for more details regarding your choices.

There are typically free options, which are developer-hosted blogging services, where most of the blogging functions are automated and provided by the blogging service. Rules regarding content may be more restrictive. Less web page coding skills are required. Also, visitors may need to be a member of the service and/or a connected "friend" in order to comment on content. Investigate and register with one of the following services to begin creating blog entries:

Blogging questions. How do you start a blog? Is it safe?

Find a website that you like and start one. First off, what kind of blog do you want? Something like Tumblr, where you can post pictures and videos? Or Youtube, where you can just blog or known as vlogging on youtube where you talk instead of type? Or just the plain old typed up entries? It's free if you do it through a website. It will only cost if you buy a domain, which is a web page. But if you use a website, you can just use their templates and create everything for free. I believe it's safe but just as with anything online, you should be cautious. Blogging seems fun, if you're into it. It's easy to forget to post though if you don't keep updating it. People will blog about anything. Most blog about their daily lives or a subject that interests them. On Tumblr for example, people set up blogs dedicated strictly to celebrities or things like Starbucks and movies.
