How should one prepare for IIM interviews?

I remember being incredibly terrified after reading other people’s IIM interview experiences. How the hell did these candidates know so much?!As I read more interviews and tried to objectively analyze them, I began to understand why I was getting so terrified - the interview was specific to the person. There was no way I could know what a chemical engineer did, and I was 100% sure I was not going to be asked it. The interview will solely be about me.There are thus three C’s that are key to success in an IIM interview - consistency, clarity and confidence about yourself. How do you build this?Question Yourself: Ask yourself all the possible questions that you think you maybe asked - from the generic “Tell me about yourself?” to the specific “Why an MBA now if you’ve already got a management consulting offer?”. I made a list of all these questions (at least 50+) and wrote them down on a Word Document, a lot of these were inspired by IIM interview experiences. This effort will make you confidentAnswer Yourself: Once you have these questions in place, write free flowing answers to each of these questions. Let them be open ended and imperfect. While you write these answers a lot of unanswered questions will be answered, and you will understand a lot more about yourself. This effort will bring you clarityRefine Yourself: Now that you’ve written all these answers, read them again and say them out loud (take the help of a friend or a sibling). You will realise that there may be contradictions in your answers or inconsistencies in what you say. Iron them out and improve your answers. This effort will bring consistency. The IIM interviews sound harder than they actually are - you turn out to be much better than you think if you put in the effort. If you feel that the CAT went well - start preparing, the headstart will be useful!

Statistics Question Help on null and alternative hypothesis?

More than 200,000 people worldwide take the GMAT examination each year as they apply for MBA programs. Their scores vary normally with mean about µ= 525 and standard deviation about = 100. One hundred students go through a rigorous training program designed to raise their GMAT scores.

Test the hypotheses
Null hypothesis: µ= 525
Alternative hypothesis: µ > 525

in each of the following situations:

a) The students' score is x = 541.4. Is this result significant at the 5% level?
b) The average score is x = 541.5. Is this result significant at the 5% level?
c) What conclusions may you draw by comparing the answers to parts a and b?

AP Stats does anyone get this?

Business Week conducted a survey of graduates from 30 top MBA programs (Business Week, September 22, 2003). The survey found that the average annual salary for male and female graduates 10 years after graduation was $168,000 and $117,000, respectively. Assume the population standard deviation for the male graduates is $35,000, and for the female graduates it is $22,000.

a.) What is the probability that a simple random sample of 40 male graduates will provide a sample mean within $10,000 of the population mean, $168,000 (to 4 decimals)?

b.) What is the probability that a simple random sample of 40 female graduates will provide a sample mean within $10,000 of the population mean, $117,000 (to 4 decimals)?

c.) What is the probability that a simple random sample of 100 male graduates will provide a sample mean more than $4,000 below the population mean (to 4 decimals)?
