How To Start Upgrading To Gaming Pc

How do I upgrade an office PC to a gaming PC?

I see the link to the specific ‘office PC’. Oh god… Please tell me you haven’t bought that PC… I mean, if it was given to you, I feel even worse, but still… There would be almost no point in getting it.Ohhhhhkay, let’s see… The 4 GB RAM is too little to even run a few tabs of Google Chrome on Windows 10 (that’s if you don’t want to spend extra to get the maximum of 8 GB), that CPU is ancient, there’s no dedicated graphics card, the hard drive is half the size normally expected in the modern world, and the monitor that comes with it isn’t even 1080p. So what we’re talking here, in order to make it even relatively feasible to run SOMETHING bigger than a DOS game, is a complete overhaul.Yep, you read that right: complete overhaul. By the time you’d finish ‘upgrading’, there’d be almost nothing left of the original. Maybe the case would stay, if it’s not too small, the power supply might be strong enough, and I guess the built-in card reader is pretty nifty, but everything else would be replaced. Yes, that includes the monitor. So really, it’d be more practical to either buy a completely different pre-built rig or just build something yourself from scratch.I’m honestly appalled that something as weak as that is still being sold… And from the looks of things, it’s not even for novelty or legacy stuff! It’s being sold under the expectation of being used! I… I just… Nope, I give up.

Its my first time upgrading my PC for modern gaming, where do I start?

My current specs are
Asus CM6850
Intel Core i5 @ 2.90ghz
12288MB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 8400GS

I purchased an EVGA - GeForce GTX 970 4GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card and when I opened my pc I was only able to find 2 plugs but the graphics card required 4 so I went back to best buy and purchased a power source but it did not work so out of frustration I returned both products and looked for a lower grade graphics card but all required more wattage than what my computer supplied. I believe its around 315 watts and the graphics cards I am interested in are around 400 watts. What is the best choice I should make to handle games like skyrim with ultra settings and hopefully gta v when it comes out?

Is $1,250 too much money for a gaming PC upgrade?

That's how much I spent on my current rig which I bought two years ago and it plays most games fine.  I get a decent refresh at mid to high settings on 1920x1080.  I just recently upgraded the ram from 8GB to 32GB (Space Engineers was causing my disk to thrash) for $200.  It's the first upgrade in two years. You might be able to get a better deal on a whole computer for that money.  Then again you won't be able to select the individual components and you'll be starting with a fresh OS install.  That might not be a bad thing, though, if you can find a rig with an SSD.  If I were to buy a new comp right now I'd definitely go the SSD route. Also, if you buy individual parts you'll have to decide whether to get the discounted OEM without support or the retail which costs extra.  Getting it all in one package means you get OEM (plus a little bit of markup) but total support and coverage. In any case $1250 should get you a nice setup.

How do I uprage gaming pc??

Hey all I recently bought a pre built gaming pc ( sky tech St-arch-II-002 ). I was wondering how do I know if certain parts are compatible to upgrade the pc. Do you have any opinions on what I should replace or add to make it a more efficient pc. I want to upgrade the graphics cards but like I said I don’t know how to tell what is compatible with the other parts. I also want to add more ram. Would it be best for me to save up to start a separate build( that is not prebuilt at all). The reason I ask about the separate build is because I was told it was useless to upgrade a prebuilt pc.

How to get into pc gaming?

im a console gamer and want to maybe include pc to my gaming life as there are some smaller indie games on the pc you cant get for console.........so where do i start? my laptop most of the time lags on pc games. how do i biuld my own or where to i buy a decent one to play games on>?and how much wil it cost me to pay for it?

Is it worth upgrading my computer?

I have a HP Pavilion p6510y Desktop PC It is an older computer. I am interested in gaming and this computer cannot run very many modern games and if so it would have to be on low graphics. So i either need to upgrade it or buy a new one all together. I am thinking about buying a EVGA Geforce GTX 660 Ti graphics card and replacing my power supply to a 500 watt power supply. Would this have any effect on my computer even though all of the other parts will still be older? those 2 things will cost me about $370 so is it even worth it or should i just buy a whole new gaming computer?

Thank you in advance! =)

Should I start purchasing components for building my gaming PC now, or wait till Nvidia GTX 11 series GPUs show up?

Go for it!You have nothing to gain by not building your system now. If you go with a Coffee Lake CPU (and you probably should) the UHD 630 graphics are going to be pretty decent, and certainly good enough to get you by without a graphics card until the 11 series comes out in (September? October?)All you have to do when the new cards go on sale is buy one, pop it in, and install the drivers—10 minutes, you’re done. The only reason I could imagine wanting to wait is if you intend to design a color theme around a graphics card that hasn’t been built yet.

How much does it cost to built a gaming PC in India?

What are all of the drawbacks of buying a gaming PC from Best Buy?

When you build your own pc you save money (like you mentioned before) because you are not paying for the extra cost of having someone else build it for you. + you can also save money by deciding what parts to prioritize (like getting 8gb’s of ram instead of 16 gb if it means having a better power supply) you can also buy the parts gradually if you dont have the money to pay for everything at once.Another plus of building your own pc is that you know the ins and out of your pc, obviously. So why is that second part important? Because when its time to upgrade your system (if you brought a prebuild) you wont know what parts you need to upgrade and how to upgrade them. For a lot of people that means paying someone else to upgrade their machine. Which means paying $40 to upgrade your ram. Which is one of the simplests upgrades you can do, its as simple as opening your case and sticking the ram in its slott. Imagine paying someone 40 bucks to insert a memory card into your ps2 or gamecube. Granted you wont have to open up your ps2 but most pc cases have little knobs on the back that you turn to open your case. My point still stands that you'll be overcharged for minor upgrades.Building a pc is really rewarding, that feeling that you get when your finally able to play a triple A game at max settings on a machine you built is worth it
