How To Stay Awake While Severely Depressed

I'm 16 and is severely depressed.. I don't wanna live anymore?

Hi. I'm 16 and a male. I currently have severe depression. I also have tried commiting suicide and has suicidal thoughts. I want life to end. I don't wanna live anymore. I get very unmoviational, I hate myself, I eat a lot, I'm always tired and sleep all the time, I cry myself to sleep almost every night, I just want it to stop. I hate life. Life doesn't seem fun. Nothing interests me. Nothing makes me happy. I don't like anything. I don't want to live anymore. I want it to all end.

Stressed out stay at home mom.?

Samantha, first of all, don't blame yourself. Or the kids. Or thefact that they are so young and so close in age. These can be the best years of your life. But you do have o de-stress. I know, easier said than done. Here is my thoughts. They're a bit random, didn't wait to organize them coz I know you want to hear answers quick

Do the kids nap? At the same time, or different times? It would be ideal if they both nap at the same time. And the key is for you to also *rest when they are resting*. I mean it. It feels like you are wasting a golden 40 minutes when you can do dishes, cook, even take a shower. The shower/bath can wait till they are down for the night.

Spoil yourself a bit. Are you on a budget or a strict environmentalist? If not, for a few months, you can get away with TV dinners for you and bottled baby food for them or kid cuisines. Just till you get back some of the balance you had in your life before the kids. Less prep time and less dishes to wash means more time for you to enjoy your children.

During the day, give each of them a designated cup each for water. Use juice boxes. I assume they are on sipper cups for milk so you will have to wash half a dozen of those. No way around it.

Do they like long baths? Mine did. After they were clean, I would give them spray bottles, water guns, or just used yogurt containers and let them sit in the tub for an as long as 45 minutes playing. You can use this time for a mini pedicure (or, more likely, cleaning the toilet :( !

I am sure you have heard all this before, probably tried them. Do write back and say how things are going.

Also, you can contact your local churches and family services. They may know of "Mommy and me" groups where you can meet other moms, and they can meet other tots.

How about signing them up for swimming lessons at the Y? They come home exhausted from class and take a nap and mom gets to de-stress in the pool with other moms....

Good luck, do update and let me know how it's going

You can put them in bathing suit/trunks and put them both in together in the bathtub, i mean ( if they are having a good day and won't get in a fight)

Why do depressed people often stay up late at night and sleep throughout the day? My roommate has a major depression disorder even though he's a pHD.

Depression and anxiety both have symptoms of insomnia and fatigue. Often it's due to the fact that they’re overwhelmed with their responsibilities during the day and it makes them exhausted, and at night, the anxiety from what they did not accomplish or what they did wrong during the day haunts them at night, keeping them awake. Also, being a PhD has nothing to do with mental illness. You can be a billionaire and a genius and have depression. In fact many great people do. There’s no surefire way to avoid it.

I wake up depressed/anxious after an afternoon nap?

Like I said afternoon or any nap in general, first thing in the morning I'm ok. During October-December I went through a severe episode of being depressed I've never been so low in my life and I knew it was something bad because it was completely out of my control. Then JANUARY comes around and it's like I'm cured! I have no clue what it is the only time I experience these symptoms only when waking from a nap. For example, I could feel scared, lonely, I worry about everything I worry about feeling the way I did back in October- Dec, I worry about transferring, I worry about growing up... I worry I worry I worry. what could this be!

Do depressed people sleep all day?

While depression affects each individual differently, part of depression is a loss of energy, motivation, and feelings of satisfaction in the things he/she used to enjoy. It can also cause insomnia. It is thus very common to just want to stay in bed and/or sleep all day because the loss of ambition can be crippling, but many, many people with depression nonetheless get up and go to school, work, etc. because of both obligation and the power of will. Some people with depression, with the proper treatments, do just fine and have no major issues. Now, does your friend have clinical depression or has she just recently been saying she is depressed? She should seek the help of a professional who can get her some medication or at the very least she should talk to a school counselor. Best of luck.

Do naps cause depression?

I have experienced this a couple of times. After a good enjoyable Lunch, I drifted into a short nap. When I woke up, I felt depressive. Although it lasts for a very short while, it was totally opposite to my moods before the nap. So there does seem to be link.Later I realised the connection ... sleep induces certain chemicals to secret, whereas Meals require digestive chemicals. So if we drift into a nap, shortly after a heavy Lunch, the Body is going to react badly. Let some time lapse ... perhaps a leisurely stroll ... or read that Newspaper ... anything to stay awake. A nap at right time is then exactly opposite ... you wake with a happiness oozing out.
