Do mobile phones actually interfere with planes on takeoff/landing? I fly regularly and always turn off when instructed. Though once I fell asleep as soon as I sat down, and woke up an hour later in mid air and my phone was still on.
Older cellular network technologies did, not seriously but enough to be very annoying.GSM was particularly awful, and could cause an ILS receiver to lose its lock on the ground signal. While that’s not going to cause a crash, it is distracting and could force an aircrew to go-around and try again. I have heard of a crew trying twice and then instructing the cabin crew to find the offending phone and make sure it was off; turned out it was the purser’s phone.The thing is, go-arounds at a major airport are really expensive; many thousands of dollars worth of fuel for the go-around, plus schedule issues for everything else that is in the airspace for hours afterwards.Older aircraft were and are more susceptible to this. A 787 doesn’t care, for example, and many airlines operating them don’t require devices off for the crew. Some older models were very susceptible to interference, and actually had design changes in service when cellphones became common to fix it.
How does phone signal interfere with airplane comm signal?
In a commercial jetliner? It doesn't. That's not why the authorities prohibit cell phone use.But in a jetliner *or* a small plane, if the pilot has a cell phone very near to the airplane's communication signal, it can cause interference. I know, because I've heard it on the frequency (I'm an air traffic controller) from time to time.I've also heard it come out of my own phone into my headset!Here's the thing, though- if I move the phone to a different pocket, so the headset cord isn't sitting on top of the phone, the interference goes away.Likewise, in a plane, if the pilot moves the phone just a few feet away from the radio or their headset plug, the interference goes away.This is not to say that it's impossible, but in 25 years of experience, I think it's incredibly unlikely that any serious amount of interference from a phone signal (note- this can be data or voice) will cause any serious interference with a plane's comm equipment.Other electronics- navigation, systems, etc- is a different story.

Newer and advanced GPS trackers with high-tech chips will be better at picking up signals.
Heard demonic voices on phone?
I was on the phone to my boyfriend, whilst on break at work, I work in a cafe, which is opposite to a supposed to be haunted house.. I was walking up and down past the house whilst talking, I passed one of the windows, and the phone on my end and his started messing up, making a sound like a phone had been dropped in water with an electronic sort of sound.. Then there was a low pitch speaking, like demonic, sounded like something you hear on films, but in real life.. Then I caught a word, sounded like 'breathe'.. Then my boyfriend hung up, cuz he could hear it too, then that cut me off as well, but I spoke to him after and he tried talking to me, and I tried talking to him whilst this was happening, but we couldn't hear each other.. Scariest thing ever.. But I want an answer, religious, scientific, anything? Sounded like a evp recording, but haven't got it recorded, which is a shame.. But if anyone has any idea about what this is let me know
