How To Stop Ps3 From Overheating

How can I fix an overheating PS3?

You will need to take the PS3 apart (this will void all warranty). Overheating is usually caused by dust in the cooling fan. This will need to be cleared.Directions: PS3 Flashing Red Light: The Ultimate Solution

My PS3 keeps overheating. What can I do?

It is important to maintain your PlayStation 3 system by keeping the vents on the system free of dust. Because dust can accumulate in the vents of the PlayStation 3 systems and cause the PS3 to overheat and make loud noises, I recommend that you check the vents periodically and clean them if necessary. After turning off your system and unplugging it from the electrical outlet, you may remove any dust with the hose attachment of your vacuum cleaner or with a small handheld vacuum.Important Note: Do not use compressed air to blow out your system. This can cause the dust in the vents to be blown into the PlayStation 3 which could possibly damage your system.

How do I prevent my ps3 from overheating?

Make sure you keep it in a nice hard surfaced area(not on carpet which really attracts dust) , give it some nice room to breath(you wouldnt like it if you were placed with a bunch of other crap in a small area),you did great not putting it in those cabinet type compartments. Just to be safe about once a week check on your vents see if their not blocked with dust If they are grab a cleaning cloth and a low powered vaccum and clean your system. If all fails im sorry my friend but you might get the Yellow light of DEATH soon. It would be smart to head on over or call your nearest game store get their input and make your decision then. Good Luck!

How long can you play on ps3 before it overheats ?

Don't worry too much about that. I often have my ps3 turned on for 12 hours strait or more and nothing bad has happened. There is no set amount of time before it overheats, seeing as how it can overheat within 3-5 mins in a very hot enviroment like 45c (113f) but take forever or may never overheat in a cooler environment like 20c (68f).

Just try to make sure that its not on carpet or sitting on anything dusty or else it'll suck up dust into the ps3, and make sure that nothing is blocking the back. Try to put it near a window but not in direct sunlight, also turn the ceiling fan on to help keep the room cool. Try to make sure the room is kept below 30c (86f). Turn your slim off if you hear the fan while playing your games. Especially if you ever hear 3 beeps and a message warning that it getting very hot. Doing all these things will prevent your ps3 from having a short lifespan.

Hope this helped :)
