How To Study Geometry

How to study for a Geometry EOC?

Geometry is one of the easiest subjects so, dont worry child simply study all the notes carefully. Dont approach geometry is a tough subject. In fact it is an aesier one. First study the fundamentals and understand them ok

Why study geometry?

"....help me in everyday life?"

I suppose that depends on what 'everyday life' is like for you. If you plan on going into engineering, designing, etc... then it will help. Even if you are planning to be a contruction worker, geometry will come in handy.

If, on the other hand, you are going into sports journalism, it would be of no use to you.....

How can I study Geometry in one day?

Open a Geometry textbook and start studying.

What is the best way to study geometry?

Geometry is a fun to learn. Unlike several other mathematical sciences, Geometry is closer to real life. It is everywhere around us. It has been existent since the ages. History tells us how important role the science of geometry had played in building giant structures like pyramids etc. Hence, the best way to study geometry is by observing real life shapes and structures. The real world comprises of objects all of which are an approximation to combination of relatively very few basic figures we know. Observe the edges, angles, shapes, sizes, perpendicularity, parallelism and what not. Try to apply your theorems in deducing or estimating other parameters. That's how one makes his study interesting and satisfactory.Next comes the theorems. Theorems are an integral part of Geometry. They are interesting and most of them involve imagination. I recommend you to try them on your own. The science of Geometry has been rapidly evolving and a great tool to mathematicians and physicists in understanding and visualizing complex and highly abstract problems.

How do you study for Honors Geometry?

I have one more test and a final.

I'm really nervous because I'm not good at Geometry.

I was good at Algebra 1, but not at Geometry? Is anybody else like this? I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

How do you study for Geometry? Algebra 2?

I calmed down but i really want a good grade on these next tests to pull my grade up :(

any advice on studying and everything is very much appreciated.

Why do we Need to study geometry?

The WHY of geometry depends on how you want to look at the world you live in.

If you are a pragmatist, geometry is a branch of practical knowledge which allows you learn more about the world around you, through surveying, measurements, and design, and then build more with accurate construction techniques.

If you are a philosopher, learning how to construct proofs will teach you how to think logically, and not make stupid decisions based on ignorance and faulty assumption.

If you are a student of history, then you know that the cultures with the smartest people, the best engineers, and superior technology, generally prevail over those without these assets. Geometry is part of the mathematics which underpins science and engineering.

And if you are just a plain student, who could care less about geometry or any other serious study other than the opposite sex, learning all that you can, while you can, may help you to prepare for a higher-income, satisfying job which will make you a more attractive partner for those you would want to date or marry.

Should none of these reasons satisfy you, then you need to study geometry because that is what you are required to do by whatever powers rule your life.

Why we need to study geometry?

There is this one incident when I was going to a petrol pump in my city. I was in bit of a hurry but there were long queues at the petrol stations. Due tothe space availability the queues formed were in the form of an arc as shown in the picture. Now as you can see for same position in the queue, the number of people in the station 3 will be less than that of station 1. This is because of the fact that the circumference of the circle with larger radius will be larger than that of the one with smaller radius. Therefore if we consider same reference point for all the three stations, say the diameter, the number of units held by station 1 will be more than that of station 3 as seen in picture below (Drawing not to scale, just for understanding the concept).Hence, the moment I saw this kind of queuing it took me a fraction of second to decide for going in station 3 queue even if it seems to end further than the other 2 stations visually. People continuously flow in this buzzing petrol pump and you cannot keep counting the number of people in the queue and further delay yourself. This is one such example where a basic knowledge of geometry has helped me to save my couple of minutes. Though there are many more you can find.Cheers.

Why do we need to study geometry?

YOU may never use it in whatever profession you go into, but we make everyone study it because people who become navigators, architects, astronomers, and even game designers need it. It's very important to a lot of our technology. Joshtr is right, though... it helps you to learn to think logically, and that will help you no matter what you do.

How did/do you study for your geometry final?

Hi jess*,
Sorry to hear about your current situation with geometry.
These are what I would do:
1. Understand all definitions and theorems. Make a flashcard and study them if you have to.
2. Do many practice problems to get used to using Pythagorean Theorem, Area Formula (for triangles/squares/circles/etc), and Volume if you learned that.
3. If there is something that you do not understand in particular, focus on that area by reading each sentence by sentence. So, if you got a problem wrong in Triangle Inequality, read what triangle inequality is and make sure you know what it is. And then go to the problem that used the Triangle Inequality and see why you got the problem wrong.

Geometry is different from other branches of mathematics that it requires critical thinking to do well. I suggest that if you need to, buy Geometry for Dummies/Idiots and just do problems there. You should be OK with this method.

What is the best way to study for a geometry final?

What is the best way to study for a geometry final? It is the first semester so its the first geomerty final i'm gonna take. so my teacher told my it was going to be mainly true and false and lots of multiple choice. i've got like 50 or something conjectures (theorums) and i don't have the time to memorize them. any studying suggestions?
