How To Survive The Zombie Librarian Apocalypse Survival Tip

Zombie apocalypse: how would you survive, would you want to?

If we were going by how things are in my life as of this very moment, I am quite positive that although I would put up a hell of a fight, I would not survive. I simply lack the necessary skills and knowledge of the land to survive. If we’re talking in terms of ideal situations, however, I would possess detailed knowledge of all 50 states, military/government protocols for various outbreak types, hand-to-hand/weapons combat skills, wilderness/urban survival skills, spy/thief skills, free-running skills, social/leadership skills, and electrical and mechanical engineering skills, as well as the old ways of blacksmithing.I would use my knowledge to rally the people in my immediate community together, as many as possible. I would figure out everyone’s individual skills and set them to the tasks that would keep us alive. I would also make sure to gather up as many able-bodied men as I could to build a perimeter wall around what was now our own little town, while making detailed plans to move the group to a more isolated location. It takes 3–4 hours to get to the main city by walking, but only 15–30 minutes by car, and there would be no telling how soon the fast zombies would arrive, if they were not already within our borders.A good place to run that would be very close would be the bridle path up the road from my house. It takes 45 minutes to an hour to walk there, and is a region full of steep, rocky hills, a river full of trout, and very few people. I’ve been told that one can use this path to walk all the way to the main city, and we would most likely use this feature for any desperate supply runs into the city. The dense foliage, fallen trees, steep hills, etc, would allow for very good defense opportunities. As far as WANTING to survive is concerned:Instinctively, I’d want to live, but consciously I would know that the world would never be the same, and that every day would be spent in agonizing misery, hiding from zombie and human alike, barely surviving at the best of times and surrounded by enemies and starving to death at the worst. While I would fight valiantly, I would hope and pray for the day that I finally died, and hope that my death would be quick and painless.

I'm writing a zombie apocalypse novel. Do you have any tips, plot suggestions or common mistakes I should avoid?

Have fun and write what you know.  I published a ZA novel last year (Brutal Planet) and am working on a second, it was a very interesting experience for someone who had never written fiction. The above answers are all correct in particular your novel should not about zombies per say (unless you protagonist is a zombie) but about us and what we do. Read and watch all you want (and you should) but don't try to mimic. This is your story, write what you want to write! BUT PLEASE, PLEASE don't make it the start of another trilogy or series(unless you have a unique kick ass story that needs serious ink to tell it).The other thing I learned the hard way is edit, edit and then edit some more. I published through a smaller press and they just don't have the resources (the novel was edited in house). I should have dropped some coin and sent it to a professional BEFORE I sent it to a publisher. Also, don't count your pages or feel like you have to have a certain amount of words to write. Write only enough to tell the story. I have read novels where it is obvious the author is shoveling in filler to get to the 100K word count (mine was 121K). I would love to talk. If interested you can find my contact info at the bottom of the BP Amazon page. If you read the reviews you see whybe  editing is so important. Good luck!

What are the first things to do after surviving an apocalypse?

Phase IAnalyze the local environment with whatever tools are available.  Is it safe to stay in the area?  Or should you move elsewhere?  Find a defensible shelter of some sort.  Ensure all members of immediate family group can exist in this shelter.  Secure this shelter against possible intruders, whether human, undead, or animal.Stockpile physical resources.  Food, water, weapons, ammunition, medicine, blankets, batteries, fuel and so forth.  Stockpile knowledge.  Presumably, the economic and political system have collapsed.  This means that electronic media are unavailable.  Raid the local Barnes & Noble and the local library for books about survival, medicine, horticulture, and such.  Hide.  Wait for immediate apocalypse aftermath to end.Phase IIAnalyze whether current base is sufficient for long-term survival.  This includes not just defensibility, but also comfort and proximity to food sources.  If necessary, relocate to a new home base that is suitable for a long-term occupation.Practice skills learned from books.  It is unlikely that you are a proficient marksman, hunter, doctor, technologist, AND farmer.  Practice skills in books.  If you are in a group of three or more individuals, each person can specialize in a separate skill.  Cultivate safe food sources, whether through domestication of animals or farming.  Look for signs of other groups of human beings.  Try to find out if they are friendly or hostile.  Merge with these other groups if they are friendly.

Whats a good title for a zombie book?

Idk i just took things out of the top of my head lol

What would you carry in a long-term survival kit to rebuild as much modern technology as you can in an apocalypse scenario?

What would you carry in a long-term survival kit to rebuild as much modern technology as you can in an apocalypse scenario?Nothing related to “modern technology”.The problem is “long-term survival kit” is supposed to keep you alive. The kit has to be portable, and usable without requiring technology…To “rebuild as much modern technology” requires a rather large technical and scientific library (and not a digital library as that requires technology to already exist); and that includes archaeology (you really need to know how to make a fire, spears, bows and arrows…)Including such mundane things as learning how to read, and understand mathematics. One person cannot rebuild “technology” alone.
