How To Take A Good Picture Of Myself

How do I take a good picture of myself?

A couple of quick "rules of thumb" - these aren't guaranteed, and don't work in every situation, but they're decent things to remember and try - pro-photographers use them all the time.

1) Try not to take the shot face on. You want a bit of an angle - so the camera is not directly in front of your face but shooting you slightly from the right or left. People seldom see other people from a direct-on view. The majority of the time we see other people from sort sort of angle. Shooting with an angle can make the image seem more natural.

2) Tilt your head slightly downward - so you're tucking your chin in a little. But, not too much, or it will look unnatural. A little goes a long way in this case.

3) Shoot from above so the camera is looking down at you. When coupled with pointer #1, you'd be looking for about a 45 degree angle - both horizontally and vertically. Most people, especially females, but males too, just look better when shot from slightly above.

4) If you haven't practiced a natural smile - don't smile. Unless you've practiced, your smile will likely look like a "snapshot smile". A natural smile is not what you get when someone says "smile!" and you do. A natural smile involves eye and cheek muscles that you wont use if you force a smile, unless you've practiced. Try taking the picture with NO expression on your face at all - if you do that, people will actually subconsciously project their own interpretation onto the image. If you try this, you'll likely be amazed at the response from other people.

5) Don't always look into the camera. Look above it, below it, to either side - anywhere but directly into the camera lens.

6) Most importantly - never, and I mean NEVER ... did I stress NEVER, enough? NEVER take a photo using the on-camera flash. If you can't get a good photo with the natural lighting conditions available, then don't take the photo. It will never look good (unless you know how to properly use a "fill flash") Dead-on, un-diffused flash from the camera creates unnatural and harsh shadows and makes the image appear flat and lifeless. If the flash on the camera goes off when you're taking the picture, there's a 99% chance the photo wont look good. So, shoot with ample natural light, or purchase and learn to use off-camera flash.

And, experiment. Try different angles, different poses, etc. Look at the results and see what works best for you.

Why can't I take a good picture of myself?

I'm like that too!

It's good to know I'm not alone!
It's probably the lighting or something.. or the angle you're holding the camera...?
Have somebody take a picture of you!
Or.. If you have a laptop or a Mac, you can use the built-in webcam to take a pic of yourself!

Why do I only look good in pictures I take of myself?

I usually take really good pictures when I take them myself. When anyone else takes a picture of me, I look so disgusting that I just wonder why people don't tell me I look like a ballooned pug. I even remember looking in the mirror and thinking I looked better than usual that day.

I'm the one on the left dressed in black.

I can never take a good picture of myself): ?

Yes, I have some tips if you are taking the pics yourself.

Put the camera on a tripod, or flat level surface like a table. Use the camera's self timer to trigger the shot. Make sure you are quite far away from the camera, use the camera's zoom lens to frame the picture (you may need someone to pose in your place to help set this up) - this will help you to avoid wide angle distortion of the face.

Use natural light if possible, avoid direct on-camera flash, avoid direct sunshine (in the shade is best). By a window is a great place to get good lighting for a portrait (obviously with no window in the shot!).

How do you take good pictures of yourself??

First, get a camera with a self timer. Then have someone ELSE pose where you'll be to get the light, the angle and general "feel" right. Then put yourself where they are and shoot!

Most portraits look best in natural light (no flash!), with the light coming from the side...unless you're really old and/or wrinkly! then use a flash from the front, to erase many lines and shadows.

When I take a picture at home, I get a good version of myself, but when I take a picture in school, I get a bad version of myself. Why?

Well really I was just thinking what to write from past two hours lol . But then something came in my mind and I hope it will be a better answer . Well the thing is that we all don’t love school and also we don’t like to wear school uniform and we just feel awkward wearing that dress , so that is why we think that we are looking awkward when we take photos in school .Second thing is that we stay at home for a long time and we see mirror again and again so we start loving ourselves at home , also we have a lot of spare time at home in which we can easily pose and take some good photos .In the other case when we are outside the home we are just tired sometimes and sometimes hurry and sometimes we had excitement of being outside of home so in all these situations we click photos in a bit hurry and we then think that our photo is bad one .But at the end of the day its all about how we see ourselves . We should try to love our life , then we will enjoy every single photo at every instant of life .But still if you think that your photos are not good and you want to make some enhancements in that , you can contact me and place a order for retouching of your photos , just see the link belowsaadqazi423 : I will remove or change the background of your photos for $5 on www.fiverr.com

Why do I picture myself dead, and is it bad?

I am almost 21 years old, and have had suicidal thoughts for the past 5 years. Everyone says they will go away, but it has just gotten worse. The thing is I am kinda religious and believe you suffer if you commit suicide so I usually just cut myself and drink alcohol until I pass out. Whenever I picture myself dead I have a nice bottle of Jack in one hand and a knife in the other with blood on the ground. For some reason this image makes me happy. Why is that?
