How To Talk To A Doctor

How should I talk to my doctor about depression?

Hey im only 17 and I know how you feel. It is VERY good knowing that you are not suicidal and you seem like a very nice person also. This does sound like you are depressed but I cant know for sure so please talk to your doctor and be completely honest with them. They are trained to help with these sort of things. I also suffer from depression but anxiety as well and went to see my doctor last week.

After she asks so whats wrong, just say well lately ive been feeling like im really depressed and im not sure whats wrong or even if it is depression. When I am out with my friends I am fine but only for the time being but as soon as I am alone or if something happens that normally wouldnt I become really upset and just start crying. I no saying that you cry to your doctor might be hard because you dont want him/her to think badly of you but I did it and they are really supportive so dont worry.

And just let her know that you feel very unmotivated and have trouble falling to sleep and also say that you just lost my appetite and have to force myself to eat. (these are signs of depression) I just dont know what I should do so Iv'e just come to you for advice. It is way easier because they know all this stuff and you most likley wont have to say all that bcause they know how it is and will ask you how you questions.

I was so worried going in their I repeated in over and over in ym head but when I walked in and started telling my doctor about it, it was soooo easy its not like telling a friend who doesnt know anything about this stuff its your doctor who knows abotu all this. Sorry this answer was so long I just want to help you because I know how you feel. I hope everything works out good luck with everything take care :)

How do you talk to your doctor about poop?

I'm not sure how to bring it up and what terminology to use without sounding like an idiot.

Like, do I say "hey doc, I'm having some poop problems?" Or should I use words like "passing stools," "defecating" etc? It's really awkward as I've never had to bring this up with my doctor.

Embarrassed to talk to a doctor...?

I agree with everyone, doctors have heard everything.

Do you have a male or female doctor? Is it possible you may feel more comfortable switching to the opposite gender of your current doctor?

I have had plently of embarrassing problems because if any little thing is different in my body, I'm running to the doctor.

Just last month, I had notice an itch in my vagina. I thought I had a yeast infection, so I was like no biggie. Well when the itch didn't go away, I start thinking omg I have a STD or STI and it finally appeared. I want to make an appt. with my regualr doctor, but she was booked. I ended up having to go to a local clinic and see a doctor I had never met in my life. Turns out, all I had was an ingrown hair and because of that, it caused itching.

Or there was the time I had to go to my regular doctor and have my first pap.

No matter where I went, be it my primary doctor, or at a clinic, none of the doctors or nurses, busted out laughing when I told them any of my problems.

They are there to help you and they can't if you don't tell them. I'm very nervous that your bladder problem has been going on for some time now. As females, I swear we can can't any and everything more often than our male counterparts, so when something is not right, you need to go to the doctor ASAP.

Talking to a Male doctor about period...?

Hi, I'm 16 and this summer I will be going on to Mexico for a month with the school. I will be trekking and being active, so my period would be very annoying, especially as the area does not have proper toilets. My mum and I agreed that I should go on the pill, purely for the reason that it will stop my periods whilst I'm away. So I'm going to the doctor by myself to ask for the pill for only this reason, but I haven't been to the doctor since I was 6. My doctor is a male. Are male doctors used to discussing periods with girls? How do I start the conversation? Do I straight out just ask for it? Also, I'm actually still very irregular and can go from 6 months without a period to a period lasting for a month. Should I bring this up whilst I'm there? Please just help me get through this with the least possible awkwardness but the prescription for the pill I need.
(Just to reiterate, I don't want the pill for sexual reasons but to stop my period)

Thank you!

How do I talk to a doctor online about skin care?

The best way to find online dermatologists is by using Doctor Insta. I used Doctor Insta a couple of weeks ago and I found the service to be great. I was googling my symptoms for acne quite late at night, and found Doctor Insta as a recommended result. I downloaded the app, and was presented with three options: either receiving an appointment immediately, scheduling one for later, or being able to choose my own doctor for a later appointment. I chose the first option, and consulted the doctor on video for 15 minutes. The doctor was really nice and clearly knew what she was talking about. All of the doctors have at least 5 years of experience and are registered with an official MCI number. Additionally, patients have the ability to rate their experiences, which means that doctors improve their service with every patient. I rated the doctor a ‘5’ and later got an email saying that my feedback was good. Doctor Insta is extremely customer oriented and takes into account the feedback provided by the customer. The doctors can also view the reviews that they receive and can then improve their service to match the patient’s needs. Within a couple of weeks, my acne had cleared and I could see the difference in my skin. I highly recommend Doctor Insta for any skin care (and general medical) needs.

Why do doctors talk little to their patients?

That actually depends on the doctor and his/her patient load. When I have time, I talk a lot with my patients. But when I have all the rooms full of patients and little time to dedicate to each one, I am forced to cut the conversation to the bare essentials. Yet, if a patient needs to talk, I make it a point to always be there for them. Also, different specialties (1) affect how long a physician can spend with a patient, and (2) May attract more introverted personality types. Generally… I mean generally in all sense of the word… primary care specialties such as family practice, psychology, pediatrics, or internal medicine, the doctors in those fields try to spend more time with their patients talking. While the specialties such as neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, surgery, etc. Have little time and therefore spend less time with each patient. But I have seen the vice versa.
