How To Teach My Rabbit To Get Along With Dogs

Do Chihuahuas get along with rabbits?

I would say it depends on the dog. You can teach a dog to be tolerant of just about anything. I'm sure you could teach a dog to be tolerant of a rabbit just as you could teach it to be tolerant of a cat, horse, or other dogs.

I have two chihuahuas and one will chase anything that he might catch- rabbits (which is larger than him) and mice. The other on the other hand, has no interest in these things and actually thinks mice are facinating.

If you want the chihuahuas to get along with the rabbits then teach them that- introduce them, pet the rabbit showing the dog that the rabbit is not a threat, scold the dog if he/she plays too rough or tries to be aggressive.

How can my Jack Russell and my Rabbit get along?

We have just got a jack russell recently and we also have a rabbit. The rabbit is sercure with a hutch in a big Pen which is in my back garden,, and we also have a bit more of the garden at the side of the house so we let the dog out there rather than the garden because it constantly growls and barks through the pen,, im worried it wants to kill it or something :| any thoughts?

What tricks can you teach a rabbit?

Check out Bunny Supply Co - Bunny Rabbit Toys, Accessories, Care, and Products :) best place to buy fun stuff for your rabbit. But rabbits can be taught to “go home” like we say..if you clap your hands and coral them into there cage while saying “go home, go home, go home” they will eventually pick up on the command. After awhile, all you need to do is say “go home” and they will run straight for the cage. Works like a charm :) hope this helps!!!

I have two dogs. Can I get a rabbit?

First, have you researched how much work it is to care for a rabbit? They need a good amount of space that is well protected from predators - if it’s indoors or even if outdoors. They should have access to both - at night or in the cold they should be brought inside but they also should have time outdoors. All of those spaces should have adequate protection from hawks, foxes, and yes, your dogs. It is possible that your dogs would be fine with a rabbit, but rabbits are prey animals and you have greater odds that they will treat your rabbit like a squeaky toy.Rabbits need regular vet care for their ~10 year lifespan. They need their nails cut regularly as they do not stop growing. They also may need their teeth filed. They chew everything in sight. They need hay and fresh vegetables. They also need activities so they don’t get bored. So whether your dogs will get along with a rabbit is an important question. But there are a lot of other factors to research because caring for rabbits is different than caring for your dogs.Good luck! And if you decide to get a rabbit, look up a rescue instead of buying one from a store.

My dog tried to hump my rabbit?!?

Yeah, you got that right. My dog , a toy poodle, (male) & my bunny (male) have always liked cuddling with eachother, but then just a few minutes ago, I was holding the bunny, and my dog jumped up and at first seemed normal, then I let the bunny down to play with the dog, and then the dog got on top of the bunny and tried to have sex with it. Immediately, i put the bunny back in the cage.

I've already noticed my other dog, also toy poodle, female has tried to hump my male dog.

Can two different species of animals be sexually attracted to eachother? I mean, I have heard of humans having sex with horses, but I think that's just because they are low-life perverted people. But what about dogs & rabbits?

How Do I Teach My Dachshund Not To Attack My Pet Rabbit?

Well, this is prey and predator.
its natural, you trying to stop instincts from working, which is simply not possible.
BUT there are a few things to help, or at least lower the chances of attack.
Does your Dashhund no the command "Leave it!"
If it does try useing that, but often, instinct is all too powerful.
so try the waterbottle trick.
This is where you have a water bottle and you put a few stones in it, When your dog is showing any signs of interest, (snarling, ears pricked t'wards the rabbit, etc etc etc) Shake the bottle at the dog and in a firm voice say "Leave it!"
It workd quickly and effectivly.
I hope things work out and you dont end up with a rabbit as dog food.
Hope i helped.

Westie dogs around pet rabbits--- ok or not?

We were thinking about getting a rabbit..
We have cats, a labrador dog, and a westie dog.
The cats and dogs are really well behaved around eachother, but isn't chasing rodents in the westie's instincts?
The rabbit would stay in the cage most the time, only to come out in the play pin area and chill with us when the dogs were outside or locked in their room.
I am afraid that I will check up on the rabbit one day only to find my westie has ripped a hole through the cage!!
The rabbit cage would remain locked in my room [I know it sounds smelly but it's been thought through lol] without any possible way of getting inside except digging a hole UNDER MY DOOR. [and then of course having to reach the cage, and get inside]
My westie is a kind and gentle dog and doesn't even hurt the cats..
And he is 3 years old.
PLEASE HELP ME OUT

*Westie = White Highlander White Terrier

What are the chances? We really want a rabbit, but we don't want him to be eaten in a couple weeks!

[the cats stay outside, the lab stays in his room 24/7].

How can I train a rabbit?

You can’t. He is not a toy to do funny tricks.
