How To Tell A Fake Ebay User

How can u tell if an ebay seller is legit?

You need to look at his feedback rating- every ebay user (buyer and seller) has one. You click on their number next to their name which will take you to all their feedback. Read some of the comments. There shouldn't be a lot or any negative ones there if they are a good seller. It should be mostly positive. You can also check their ratings as a seller in 4 areas: Communication, item as described, shipping price, and shipping time. Each is rated out of 5 stars. The more positive ratings the better. Keep in mind a few negative feedbacks is ok if they are a big seller with a large rating.

Do they sell fake Beats by Dre on eBay?

Yes it is fairly common for sellers to try and sell fake Beats by dre headphones.Typically there are a number of factors to look out for:Pictures on headphone box (if you have already purchased them)Feedback (people will say if they received fake headphones.)Number sold and number left to sellThe following link is a basic guide for figuring out whether your headphones are fake or not; however I would suggest looking on google for a guide for the specific model you are planning on buying. How to Spot Fake Beats by Dre Tour HeadphonesPicturesThere tend to be some inconsistancies with the pictures on the box, whether it is their precise shade and positioning and sometimes even Dre’s signature on the back. The serial number should be a dead giveaway - since Beats is now owned by Apple you can contact Apple customer service and give them the serial number and get them to check you have a genuine set of headphones. It is also possible that the manufacturer of the fake headphones purchased a set of genuine ones and is using the same serial number of all the headphone boxes to give the impression that they are genuine.FeedbackThis is sort of self explanatory - people will complain via feedback if they can see that their headphones are fake. Sometimes if there is mixed feedback but only a small amount of feedback I would suggest steering clear from that seller since it could just be a friend of the seller or the seller themselves trying to give the impression of a legitimate business.Number sold and number left to sellIf they have sold lots of pairs of them then good for them. The point is to check the price and compare them to brick and mortar store retail prices. If they are obviously much cheaper, then its likely they are fake and so they are still making some profit regardless of the lower than usual price. If they are at a similar price they could just be greedy as hell and using this to reassure you that their product is what you mean to buy. If they have a lot left to sell i.e. more than 10 available is what it usually says on ebay (and of course at a lower price) then once again it is likely they are fakes. Beats is not going to sell headphones direcly to ebay sellers at a lower price like they do to normal retailers because there isnt anywhere near as much advertisement that they are getting out of this. Less advertisement > less profit.Anyways this is just a basic guide, hopefully you find it helpful and I didnt repeat myself too much.

Is this eBay seller selling fake items?

http://myworld.ebay.com/team_america_hits

I noticed that the authentication system he has, grandstand-online.com is a defunct website now. Also a lot of the items that are being sold are going for unrealistically low prices.

What do you guys think? He has hundreds of positives but I have a feeling that they are forged autographs.

What are the consequences of selling fake objects on eBay?

The most immediate consequence is having to refund the client. The second consequence is having your eBay account revoked. The third consequence is having your Paypal account revoked, not to mention any money you may have in that account frozen for an extended period of time. Finally, you may face legal consequences, especially if you knowingly or had a reasonable expectation (too good to be true supplier ) that the product you were selling was a fake. There are not that many prosecutions that I am aware but the first three consequences are very common, even if there is ZERO proof that you actually sold something fake. The burden of proof is on the seller to show their items are legitimate.

Are the products on eBay fake?

Honestly, the only answer to this is that it is because some individual sellers use eBay to sell counterfeit or knockoff (“fake”) items. There are rules on eBay that state that sellers are not to sell these types of items, but obviously there are always some people who are going to try to find ways around those rules. There are YouTube videos and online forums that can help you tell the difference between many different types of counterfeit items and authentic ones.If you do accidentally purchase a counterfeit item on eBay, you should be able to return it and be covered by eBay’s guarantee. When you open your return case, eBay has an option for your “reason for return” in which you are able to state that you suspect the item you bought is counterfeit.

Why does eBay allow the listing of fake items and what are they doing to clean it up?

Generally speaking, eBay does not encourage the listing of fake items and is taking preventive measures to stop this because they are eager to protect the community around their marketplace. In doing so, eBay applies seller limits to new sellers as well as sellers that have been identified as bad (negative feedback from sales, no sales, etc.). There is a specific limit named item-based listing allowance. This allowance is basically a restriction for counterfeit items, fakes, replicas, or unauthorized copies. In some rare cases, however, eBay allows the sale of these items if the products sell well and you have an outstanding seller rating. I don’t know how they motivate this but these are the facts and may explain why you saw a fake item listed.Furthermore, eBay also has a program called Verified Rights Owner (VeRO) that allows owners of intellectual property rights and their authorized representatives to report eBay listings that may infringe on those rights, thus protecting online sellers and their businesses.Overall, eBay is taking measures to ensure that there are no fakes but you can never completely get rid of this problem.

How do people get away with selling counterfeit goods on ebay?

Excellent question. Many sellers just believe that they are immune to the laws and are to small for the authorities to come after. Invoices from overseas suppliers often miss-state the description of the products being sold, so that customs does not know that they are shipping Fake merchandise. Ebay needs to do a much better job of policing what is being sold, but that would also require that the buyers report the purchase of fake products.

Accounting itself will not reveal the selling of merchandise. Like I said, Invoices can be misleading. Descriptions on inventories can also be misleading.

This guy sold me a fake golf club on ebay...?

I know 100% that the club is a fake and I have emailed him numerous times and also reported this to ebay. I found his phone number on the receipt that came with the club and gave him a call. He said that it isn't a fake and when I tried to explaint to him and ask for a refund, he hung up on me. What should I do?
