How To Tell If My Motherboard Supports A Cpu

How can i tell if my rigs motherboard can support a certain processor?

Most motherboards manufacterers will provide information as to what processors you can use with a certain motherboard. Look up the name of your mobo in google and beside it type "list of processors" that should get you a link to hopefully get you to an info page about your mobo and then you should be able to look at a list. For example this link is my motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product...

and if you look to the right is says CPU support list, which then shows me all the CPU's I should be able to upgrade/downgrade too.

Then you can simply type in that processor and buy it. Don't pay attention to these people about sockets, despite what they say just because you have the correct socket doesn't mean the processor will always be able to work in it (though normally it will). Good luck!! It would have helped if you told us your mobos name/number so we could check it up for you to help a little better.

How can i find out what cpu that my motherboard supports?

contact the manufacturer via their webiste or call their support number. If you don't know it, just type the manufacturer's anem into a search engine. Ask them what processors you PC will support.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND taking the processor out to look at it or look at the pins. If you are unexperienced at this, you could very easily bend/break a pin on the processor or short it out with the static on your hands. Why even go thru this trouble if someone will tell you on the phone what processor it will handle. In the event that you cannot get thru to customer support, look for the link on their website where you can type in you model and /or serial number and then look up the specs on your machine. Look for the Brand/Model # for the motherboard. Now go back to a search engine, plug in that brand and find the manufacturer site. Browse their site for your motherboard model and it will tell you what processors it supports.

Can my motherboard support this type of CPU?

The ECS internet site has a CPU support list tab. The Phenom II x6 1055T is shown as a supported cpu on that motherboard. Ditto the above advice - motherboard company websites continually trump newegg specs. That rather is an AM2/AM2+ motherboard, but it will possibly take delivery of some AM3 processors. Update to the trendy BIOS earlier than putting in the brand new processor to be certain compatibility.

How Can I Tell If My Motherboard Can Support Sertain Video Cards?

Your board can support it, however, you are going to need at least a 550watt PSU (Power Supply) in order to push its requirements. Find out what your PSU wattage is. It will be labeled on the side of the unit. If it supports the wattage, then you need to see if it has a 6-pin PCIe connector on it for power. The GTS 250 requires one. If you meet the wattage requirements, but lack the 6-pin, you can get an adapter online for very little money.

If you do not meet at least 550watt, then you need to upgrade your PSU. You can get a 600watt for around 70ish dollars.
