How To Tell My Parents I Want A Different Car

How to tell my parents about a car accident?

Well I already typed this but this is a bit of a different question & want some good advice...
So what happened was I was driving during the afternoon to go to the store, I think I was a lil distracted from my mirror & maybe driving fast then saw a big truck in front of me at the traffic light, I was too close I slammed the brakes but it was too late and rear ended the truck, the driver of the truck looked mad cause I saw his arm got up hitting his steering wheel or something, the traffic light was already green but I'm not sure if he forgot to move or if there was a car in front of him not moving. The guy got out of his truck to check any damage on his truck, I opened the door and apologized and said I was sorry and I think he said 'yeah it's alright' & said like "luckily your car only got damaged" I got out and saw the damage on my car which is really bad, I don't think there was any damage to the guy's truck; no scratches, dents or anything just my car was damaged, he drove away, without asking any information or anything else then I drove off to go to the store with my damaged car and later drove back home without any other trouble.

The car looks really bad, the hood is severely damaged, it's like bent open revealing the engine parts on the sides, I tried opening it but it's stuck. Pic: http://goo.gl/B3pqv
I have some money but just 100 bucks in my bank account which I'm sure isn't enough to repair it. My parents don't know about it yet so I'm really terrified how they'll react, this is not the first car problem they dealt with caused by me(flat tires, putting diesel gas by mistake, etc.) but this is the first accident which will def. cost more money than the past car problems ...I'm very anxious & scared what'll happen, I know my parents are going to flip out, yell and scream when they know about this cause it'll cost alot of money to repair. I don't think I'm insured but I know they have insurance. I know it's my fault but I'm really worried how my 'rents will reeact and they won't let me drive again even though I'm already a legal adult and had my license for over 2 years but I'm not fully independent yet, I do have a job but I only work on some weekends and I don't think I can afford to fix it myself. Any good advice?

How to convince my parents to trade my car for a different one?

i dont think you are going to be successful

they bought the car only a few months ago?

first of all in order for them to even consider it they had to pay CASH for it, not financing

if they financed it...forget about it... no way whatsoever

second you said they spent 'that much money on a car'...

did they buy the car off a lot from a dealer?... the mark up alone for a car on a lot would

make it NONSENSICAL to trade it in... meaning they would lose money... LOTS OF MONEY

Even with your argument that gas prices are 'killing' you

the apparent pain of you being killed at the pump will PALE in comparison to the rape and pillage

your parents will suffer if they trade in the MAZDA... No matter what deal they get on a mini cooper..

i hope you understand you are probably just gonna have to 'suffer' with your mazda...

How do I tell my parents that I want a different car?

i understand what your saying. but ii think yo should just swallow your pride and ride this car around. for atleast a while,. #1 its your 1st car, and your probably still gaining valuable driving xp, so words of advice, dont get to nice of a car for your 1st car. 2nd, i had to pay for my 1st car, and also my 2nd car, which is what i drive now. i just turned 21 today. i will say, i wouldnt have cared what it was, if my parents bought me a car that would saved me alot of cash, even if they juwst helped pay for it. but they didnt. idki think you should drive this car for atleast a year, if your still dead set on the trade in. well you should start getting good grades and staying out of trouble now. try your best to maintain a clean driving record, and keep saving up $, so when a year comes around. you can say, i been doing good in school, ive drove for a year and have alot more valuable driving xp, ive stayed out of trouble, and i still have clean driving record, and ive got $ saved up.

that way you have a nice supply of bargining chips, as well as you wont come off as ungrateful or anything.(not saying you are ungrateful, but you just got a car 2 months ago, and already want a new one) best of luck bro

I hit a car? help what do i tell my parents?

okay so this morning as i was driving to school i fell asleep, and hit a parked car (i think) i cant really remember! and it like left this hugeee dent in my car! and i have already got into one accident and my parents said if i get into another one i will lose my car untill im 18! help! what should i tell them to explain the dent? i cant just say i hit a car and drove off .. help! and i cant just not drive, i mean i have a job, school obligations, etc.

How can I convince my parents to get the car I want? I want to get something big like a Hummer or pickup truck because I am tired of being inferior to everyone, and I want to show dominance.

When my children were in high school, we wanted them to have a car to drive so they didn't have to depend on us to drive them everywhere. We gave them semi-exclusive use of our 1995 GMC Safari van.It was:12 years oldwith 175,000 milesand peeling paint. The gray primer showed through the blue paint in about 20% of the body. From a status symbol point, not much to boast about. However, it also had the following attributes:It ran very well and was dependable. I keep cars well maintained and it had been in the family for 100K miles. It had great visibility because you sit so high. You can see over cars in front of you.Great road clearance and durability because it is built on a truck frame.Awesome handling in the snow. With all-wheel drive and ABS, it did very well. Add studded snow tires, and it would take you anywhere.Big vehicle so it fared very well when it was hit by another car.Because of the features above, we viewed it as a safe vehicle for beginning drivers.Cheap vehicle, so I wasn't too upset when my son cut a corner and scratched half the side. The scratch was left as a reminder to be more careful.I was very proud of my children at their reaction to this vehicle. They were grateful to have a car to drive. They drove it proudly. My daughter even used the van (with peeling paint showing) in one of her senior pictures. As a parent, I will provide transportation if I can. However, it will be something that fits my goals (see above) and likely something I already have, rather than something purchased specifically for a child. If they want something different or better, they are welcome to start saving to buy their own.I covered a bachelor's degree for each child from a local state university. I also gave each of them a cheap used car at graduation. I would rather spend my money on their future than their transportation.

Rear ended someone- tell parents?

on my way to school i rear ended someone, yet it was at a speed below 5mph or even lower lower. there was movement from the receiving car but no damage to them. we didn't exchange information as there was no damage. i checked my car later there was a tear in the chrome thing/cracked chrome paint?. thank goodness no one was hurt or there was no damage to their car

could they come back to me and say i damaged their car or that they are hurt as we travel the same road to school every morning and it would not be hard to find me. still, we never exchanged info and she said i was lucky

bad picture of it, but just to get the gist

should i tell my parents, i'm scared or could i get away with it like someone backed in to me?!! wow.

that's all the damage. theres a small scrape but u can't tell at all and the license plate is curved a very little thats it not noticeable.

i doubt it but is there anything to fix it

thanks..

Did your parents pay your car insurance when you were a teenager?

I don’t know exact numbers, but when my parents added me to their insurance they told me that their insurance rates almost doubled just because of me, even with my “good student” and “safe driver” discounts. They said the only reason they let me drive in high school was because I went to an out of district school for the IB program and they didn’t want to go out of their way to drop me off and pick me up every school day. This didn’t really mean anything to me at the time because I was just a kid who never paid a recurring bill in his life yet. All I knew was that I was able to drive, yay! Then my brother became old enough to drive, but my parents wouldn’t let him get his license because his school was within walking distance, so why would he ever need to drive? When we went on to college, he still didn’t have his license because my mom worked at his school, so they would just car pool together. Then my mom left that job so now he had an actual reason to drive. My parents transferred my car’s title to me and made me get my own insurance so that they could add my brother without their insurance costs skyrocketing again.I thought that was fair, “my parents aren’t rich and driving is a luxury”, I thought to myself. I signed up for insurance and it ended up being about $110 a month for minimal coverage with my good student and safe driver discounts just to drive my 12 year old Honda around. I was a college student at this time living off of $200 a month after rent before I had to pay for my own insurance. Gas was about $40 a tank at the time too.My friends asked me why I had to pay for my own insurance, but they also drove BMWs, Lexus’, or other brand new cars too - so they probably wouldn’t have really understood anyway if I did tell them.

My parents got me a car i dont like!!?

i just turned 17 this morning and woke up to a car in the driveway. i wasnt even dying for a car that much but they got me one. great, its a good thing. but its this pontiact grand am.. and old one, i didnt want a H3 or anything and didnt need something new i just dont like this car. while im outside i said i did cause im not gonna be a jerk over a present but i honestly do not want to drive in it.

what do u think i should do? i mean i dont think its a big deal u cant pick a car for someone and expect them to like it its a personal thing.. liek shoes sometimes.. but u cant return somethign liek that...will they be able to sell it and then we'll get somethign i want?
