You have either of the two problems:You aren't sending any signals from the battery-less phone to your computer to let the computer know that it is connected to an Android phone that is OFF. This can be fixed by pressing the volume buttons until your computer detects something.If your computer responds with a Driver Not Found for MT65xx or something of that sort, you need the MT65xx Preloader driver.You can get everything you need (if your cellphone is popular enough) on Android MTK. I want to experiment (rooting, flashing etc.) with a cheap Android phone. Which one should I buy?

The best option in my opinion would be to get a flagship phone from a couple years ago. I’d recommend a Samsung Galaxy S4 or S5 because both these devices have a pretty large community and both devices are capable enough to run the latest versions of Android (although to be honest the S4 is getting slightly long in the tooth at this point).If you haven’t experimented with rooting and flashing in the past, please steer well clear of non-flagship models (these devices usually don’t have a very large community built around them) and avoid replicas and no-name-brand phones like the plague (because these devices generally don’t have a community whatsoever).The advantage of getting a device with an active developer community is that if you need some help or advice, you can talk to other users who might have either actually run into the same problem themselves or at least have some suggestions for you to resolve your issues.Hope this helps :-)
